  1. Trust me, I feel your pain MANY times over. I sold half of my Apple stock back in 1999 so I could buy a large format photography lens. The stock had been stagnate for years, hovering at just above a dollar a share. Then it spiked up to $4 a share in 1999 and I really needed that lens. So I sold 1000 shares for just under $4,000. The stock split 3 times after that including 2 - 2-1 splits and a heart crushing 7-1 split. Those 1000 shares would have turned into 28,000 shares and Apple's current stock price is $162.32 today. Thats basically 4.5 million dollars, all so I could buy a $4,000 lens, lol. And I wound up selling a bit more after that. The good news is I did keep around 30% so I still have a very nice chunk of money invested in Apple. Still. it kills me even thinking about this.
  2. Whats even more amazing than that is Marvel was filing for bankruptcy back in 1996. Another one for the record books in regards to corporate America. Easily one of the greatest comeback's by any company in the history of America. And what was so ingenious about it, and this is what separates Marvel from DC, is they decided to create thier own studio as opposed to going to other studios like WB to fund and make the films. That gave Marvel full creative control and no doubt played a HUGE role in Marvel's overall success. Plus they got to keep all the money as opposed to giving a lot of it away to other studios.
  3. I think the next infinity war movie will be the pinnacle. How can people go and see this and not see the conclusion. My money is on the sequel to Infinity war beating these figures. As too what happens after that....well, that depends on the quality of the characters and films they introduce after infinity war. Personally, I am really looking forward to the upcoming Captain Marvel movie. I think the real question is just who are they going to cast in upcoming films. They have already tapped a HUGE chunk of high profile actors and actresses in the previous films. IMO, Marvels casting has been impeccable. Not sure they can keep that up after all, there are only so many high prfile actors and actresses in Hollywood. Honestly, just look at this list for Infinity War. Ant-Man / Scott Lang - Paul RuddBlack Panther - Chadwick BosemanBlack Widow / Natasha Romanoff - Scarlett JohanssonCaptain America / Steve Rogers - Chris Evans Doctor Strange - Benedict CumberbatchDrax the Destroyer - Dave BautistaEitri - Peter DinklageFalcon / Sam Wilson - Anthony Mackie Gamora - Zoe Saldana Groot - Voiced by Vin DieselHappy Hogan - Jon FavreauHawkeye / Clint Barton - Jeremy RennerHulk / Bruce Banner - Mark RuffaloIron Man / Tony Stark - Robert Downey Jr.Iron Patriot / James Rhodes - Don CheadleLoki - Tom HiddlestonMantis - Pom KlementieffM'Baku - Winston DukeMaria Hill - Cobie SmuldersNebula - Karen GillanNick Fury - Samuel L. 4. Personally, I don't think a lot of the acquisitions we have seen in recent years should have been allowed. The government has certainly become FAR more lax of the concept of just what a monopoly really is. Disney is getting very close to straddling that line.
  5. Plus they have PIxar and animated films always do very well at the box office. Disney should just take over from the Federal Reserve for printing money as they really are just one big printing press for money now. Makes me VERY thankful I purchased Disney stock many years back
  6. And Disney bought Marvel for just 4 Billion, lol. That will go down as one of the biggest deals in corporate buyout history. They got over 5000 Marvel characters (now up to 8000) and have already made over 13 billion just at the box office alone. That doesn't include merchandising rights, which is a BIG one when it comes to both DC and Marvel. They make a decent amount of money off of merchandising. Not to mention Blu-Ray/DVD sales. Again, easily one of the best deals in regards to buyouts in the entire history of corporate America.
  7. Wow, that beat even my expectations. I actually found this article kinda amusing. Someone appears to be a bit jealous!! James Cameron Wants ‘Avengers’ Fatigue https://uproxx.com/hitfix/james-cameron-avengers-avatar/
  8. Personally, I want Marvel to do its own thing with the films. Where is the fun in watching a film when you know exactly what is going to happen. I have absolutely NO desire for Marvel to feel like they have to follow the comics to the letter. And thus far in this regard, they have yet to disappoint me.
  9. Thats even better. Now I really have to watch it.Thanks for the heads up!
  10. There are so many TV shows now that I didn't even know this show existed. I actually quite enjoyed the movie. I am assuming its based off of that. Gonna have to put this on this list of shows to watch.
  11. One thing is for sure and that is in the one possible future where they defeat Thanos, Tony clearly has a big role to play which is why Dr Strange gave up the time stone to save him.
  12. In all seriousness, you really can't think of anyone that died as permanently dead. Many will undoubtedly be brought back using the timestone. Wether Gamora will be one of them remains to be seen. I think most of the people that died at the very end will wind up coming back. Its the people that died earlier in the movie that I think are toast, like Loki & Heimdall.
  13. As I wrote in the other thread in spoiler mode, the most moving part of the film for me was Gamora's death. That whole scene was just gut wrenching, especially when she realized he was going to have to sacrifice her to get the soulstone. That's one of the best parts of the MCU IMO. They really do infuse a lot of emotional elements that most action films do not.
  14. From what I have read, Kevin Fiege has stated that Disney is not exerting any creative control at all over Marvel Studios. They simply purchased them, just like Pixar, and are letting the people that have been so wildly successful with both studios remain in creative control. So the Disney reference that people keep bringing up really is misguided. Couldn't agree more. It gave the character more depth and made him out to be more than just some psycho titan with no remorse over what he is doing.
  15. I'm a fan of both the MCU and Marvel comics and as I said before, no movie ever gets 100% positive feedback and I respect the fact that people have different opinions. That being said, a 94% rating thus far from fans on RottenTomatoes is pretty telling in regards to just how satisfied fans were with this film, myself included. Sorry you don't like the MCU. Personally, I absolutely love it. These 19 films have been unlike anything I have ever experienced in regards to Hollywood films. Some have definitely been better than others, but the experience as a whole has been absolutely BRILLIANT IMO. And as I have stated before, IMO Winter Soldier is the #1 super hero movie I have ever seen, even better than Nolan's Batman trilogy. As I always say, too each thier own.
  16. Oh my bad. Just remember hearing it and everyone laughing. I was trying to remember who said it and I couldn't remember. I guess that would be why, lol.
  17. Winter Solider is definitely still #1 on my list, for all super hero films (DC & Marvel). Not only did it have Robert Redford, one of my all time favorite actors, it also had one of the best antagonists with the Winter Soldier, an absolutely picture perfect pace, some brilliant action scene's and putting Black Widow in that film was just ingenious as the scenes between Cap and Widow were fantastic and helped break up the more serious scenes and action scenes. Not sure I will ever see a better super hero film. I don't watch trailers so I didn't see that until I was watching the film. Trailers turned into big spoilers many years back, so I jus stopped watching them. Its best to go into a film knowing as little about it as possible, at least IMO.
