  1. They always had a great selection of wall books. There was another hole in the wall place downtown on East Washington called Books Unlimited (right next to a used car lot) where you could find some decent SA runs sometimes too.
  2. The one in Speedway was Comics Unlimited maybe? I bought a high grade Avengers #4 there one summer in the mid 80's for like $85. Sold that collection my first year in med school, and will always regret it.
  3. Andy opened the first comic store in that strip center when I was in fourth grade, then sold it to another owner in the early 90s if I remember correctly. There used to be a Linder's and a Roselyn Bakery right next to it. Could get your sugar and comic fix in the same place.
  4. You mean Rangeline Comics? I grew up at 59th & Georgetown--used to ride my bike to that store twice a week. The other good store was the one just east of the track in Speedway. My dad's law office was just down the street so we used to go there periodically as well.
  5. To further narrow the "small world" aspect even more, myself and two of the other boardies at the dinner: @Batmanderson and @comicquant are also from Indy and went to Pike. CC was the first shop I went to on the weekends in the early 80s, and I was at opening day at the West Side location off of High School Rd.
  6. That's a great looking haul. Keys, keys, and more keys.
  7. Was able to grab my second Timely this weekend in Chicago, very pleased with it.
  8. This was my first time at Wizard Chicago, and I enjoyed the show quite a bit. Spent most of my time and money between Dale Roberts and Worldwide's booths, and came away with some great books. Didn't quite nail down some of my wantlist goals of my Avengers run, but there's always next time. With only one exception, found that most dealers were willing to deal and field offers. The crowd was light on Friday, seemed to pick up on Saturday but I did hear mixed reviews from some dealers as well. Forgive the phone pics, but here are some of my favorite buys from the weekend.
  9. I don't think the waiter liked our back table for some reason--he kept spilling water on all of us on the refills. Really enjoyed the night, thanks again!
  10. Great looking book, and congrats again on the pick up!
  11. Good luck on the show. Don't sell everything though, I still want to grab a few books in Chicago next month!
  12. A bit above GPA, and I just rechecked and it's actually a 7.5, not an 8.0--but still a very nice X-Men #4.
  13. Agree wholeheartedly. I also find it interesting how books that I won in an auction 12 months ago still populate the exchange with a "Sale pending" label.
  14. After missing out on some of the pedigree early Hulk's last night, I was able to land this one:
  15. Excellent looking book, congrats on the buy/sale.
  16. It's wall pics like these that make me wonder, "Does my son really need to go a private university for college in 10 years?" Amazing set-up!
  17. Both great looking books. I wouldn't mind if my 8.5 Avengers #4 magically turned into a 9.2, but I'm content with it as is.
  18. Avengers #4 was the first key that I repurchased after getting back into collecting, so that'll always win for me head-to-head. Having said that, one of the local shops that I frequent has an 8.0 X-Men #4 that I keep thinking about grabbing.
  19. Nothing wrong with that type of accident at all!
  20. Thanks Barton, I was circling that one for a while. One of the better copies in that grade that I've seen on the market.
  21. Just a monster grab. Look forward to seeing this one in person during the visit in August!
  22. I remember going to my first con on the east side of Indianapolis in the mid-80s when I was in fifth grade, and seeing Avengers #57 up as a wall book. I think that it cost $40, and I used almost half of my budget on that one book, but it was the coolest cover I'd ever seen and it was well worth it.
