  1. Picked these up at an antique shop over the weekend. Nothing special but there were so many Batman New 52 issues I figured I'd get them all. Any thoughts on whether would be worth it to go ahead and try to put together the entire set? I had already picked up a #1 at Baltimore Comic Con from Comic Kings.
  2. It's pretty much an established list. Marvel designed most of their covers from November 1971 through December 1972 using a distinct layout where the main cover art is in a box surrounded on three sides by a solid color. The design makes it seem like the artwork is framed, hence the "Picture Frame" moniker. Just scroll through this thread and you'll see hundreds of examples. Thanks for clearing that up for me! Most of what I collect isn't quite that old but I did get this a few months ago. My wife was on a business trip and spotted a comic shop across the street from where she was staying. She wanted to pick me up a gift and asked what to look for. I told her anything spiderman 80's or older and this is what she came back with. I liked the cover so I added to the comic book wall in my office. Looks like a sweet book. And it sounds like you have a sweet wife too. Thanks! And yes she is!

  4. I apologize in advance for my ignorance on this topic. Are picture frame books any comic where you like particular covers and display them or are they part of an established list?
  5. Does anyone have the full Rom crossover list?
  6. Nice Ka-Zar! Congrats on under 25. I really like following the posts as everyone keeps chipping away!
  7. It is the most common 35¢ variant. Glad the seller didn't honor the sale though. Nope, seller apparently reneged. In other news.... This is a classic example of why you should not end an auction early. Left a lot of money on the table uhm....that's what didn't honor the sale means Is this your own practice? nope... but there sure are a lot of entitled whiners on this site. Has nothing to do with entitlement. Completing a transaction is the point. Would the buyer made out like a Bandit? Sure happens every day. I am sure someone will come along and agree with you eventually..... The seller says his wife purchased the five copies at a garage sale! If she listed the five for $300 I'd be interested to know how little she paid for them. I'm sure as these five books sell that the seller will kick back some of the profits back to the person who ran the garage sale. ?
  8. No, I'm in north jersey and found these at a house sale. The owner told me his son collected and moved to Cali many years ago and left them behind in the basement. They are moving to Florida and cleaning house luckily for me. When I married I left all my collectibles at my parents house. My mom sold all of my loose redline hot wheels cars for 25 cents each at a yard sale. I gathered up all of my long boxes on my next visit home!
  9. Since Star Wars Day has come and gone I decided to take down my framed Star Wars Action Figure Variants and go with a Horror Theme. Sorry for the glare and reflections.
  10. Is it true that 35 cent variants are more highly sought after than 30 cent variants? If so, why? I began collecting comic books in 1979 but my interest in price variants is recent since finding my first just a few weeks ago. thanks!
  11. I ordered from their website and received a shipping notification email last week.
  12. Picked up these at a small Roadside antique shop today. Not as impressive as some but still worth flipping through the pile. It was especially cool to spot my first ever price variant.
  13. My first ever find! Picked it up at a small roadside antique shop today. It's seen better days but it was still cool to finally spot one!
  14. Why would the Overstreet Price Guide not even be in the ball park with pricing of some of Campbell's work? For example OS lists Amazing Spider-Man 607 as $3 in 9.2 where you be lucky to find a raw 9.2 for under $45.
  15. So are we all going to give this another try?
  16. Picked this up last week as an upgrade to my only other copy. It may be a candidate for onsite grading this year at Baltimore Comic Con.
  17. Looks like it's already getting close. Saw one go for $1300 on an eBay auction a week or so ago and another today ended at $1125. The $1450+ BIN listings have not had any action. Wonder if they go sub $1000 before all is said and done?
  18. What were graded 9.8's going for before the announcement of the new trilogy?
  19. Did they include other photos of the item too? If they are using your old photos, how does anyone know they have the item at all? No, the photo they copied from my listing is the only one appearing in theirs. I wasn't sure if this was against eBay policy and should be reported.
  20. Is it an accepted practice for sellers to use photos from someone else's listing? I just noticed a listing for a Star Wars action figure cover variant lot that is using a photo from one of my completed listings.
  21. I checked with my LCS and they tried to order but all were already sold out. Any ideas where and when they will show up? Don't see any at Midtown and not sure where else to check.
  22. Four years ago I sold my complete Marvel Star Wars run. It was in really nice condition and was the title that started me into comics as a kid. The new Stars Wars titles drew me right back into the hobby and I really regret letting the originals go. My other regret is a TOD #10 I let go at the same time. Around 1980 or so a buddy and I would rummage through a few long boxes at a local antique book store. We usually just looked for any #1's but I got TOD 8/9/10 for .25 each and they were easily 9.6. Sold the #10 raw for $140. Should have graded and kept that one!
  23. Just Received my two commissioned pieces from Brad Hudson at Baltimore Comic Con. Brad has done some really nice work on Star Wars sketch cards for Topps. Can't wait to get these framed and on my office wall!
