So the inside pages are all put on the chain all at once instead of in sections like you described eairler if this is the case how would you explain a comic that has the first 16 pages of story and then the same 16 pages of story in the same comic and the last 16 pages are missing? I don't have one like this but I have seen a few for sale I have also heard of comic with two complete sets of pages I have even seen a double cover comic with the second cover at the centerfold are these fakes or are they posible? Also are all the interior pages printed on a single piece of paper and folded or are they just folded 4 pages at a time which seams right if so how are they put together before they go on the chain?

Wow!!! that explained just about every question about comic errors I could have come up with Thanks alot this is the best thread I have ever read . I was going to ask you about another comic I have but I think I see how it happened now I will tell you what it is anyway I have a Double Cover comic that has the inside pages in it backward and upsidedown so I guess they just loded the covers in backwards how many covers do they load in at one time this might give me an ideal of how many of these were printed like this? to Dice-X

I am sure you have already explained this but how does a comic come out of the factory with Double or Triple covers. I even have one with 5 covers on it I also have a Amazing Spider-Man #96 with a Double cover and the inside cover is only a little over half their in other words the inside cover was stapled half way down the comic and the bottom half of it was trimed off their is even about a half inch white border at the top of the inside cover, the outside cover is normal though. Are all the pages and the cover put together by hand or by machine I am sure it is done by machine or it would take forever can you explain this process a little? Also is it posible to have a comic with the wrong cover I have one like this but I don't think it is authnic .

As for that Captain America I have another 35 cent variant one and it does have the Marvel Comics Group Logo on the top and I have seen another that does also so the one I have with the Logo missing is the only one I have ever seen so far, so they must have changed the plate some where through the run, hope someone comes forward with another. Have you ever seen a Marvel Comic form that time frame with that kind of error?

Thanks Dice-X that is very interesting to be able to get a image on a plate with light and chemicals I sure would like to know more how this works are thier any web sites that you know of that go more into this it would also be great to see the actual plates but you said most were destroyed.

So in the case of my Captain America when they exposed the film to the plate they had the Marvel Comics Group logo covered so when they used Chemicals to develope the plate the logo was not on it. When production of the covers started they put in the plate without the logo and ran it until it was noticed at which time they had to replace the plate did you say that they normaly destroy errors like this when they are discovered?

I have one more Question, this Captain America is also a 35 cent variant, when a comic has multible prices to be printed on them do they make a extra set of plates for every price change in the case of this comic their were a 30 cent one, a 35 cent one, a direct market one, and a UK one, I think, doed that mean their were 8 plates made or did they somehow add the price change to the existing plates?

Dice-X I read back through this thread and read about the process but what I realy want to know is how is the art exposed onto the plates did you say the plates were made of lead?

Looks like the black type was taped off while working up the page, or more likely when exposing the plate".

 

 

Dice-X I still not sure I understand do you mean that the plate was made without the logo and when they spoted the error they had to replace the plate. Sorry for sounding stupid on this subject but I don't even have a clue how the plates are made could you give me a quick corse in how the process works, how do they get from original art to printers plates? I wish I could just see the process form begining to end as I to am very interested in comic book errors.

Hi; DiceX I have a Production Flaw that I hope you can help me with . I have a Captain America #212 form 1977 that has the Marvel Comics Group logo missing from the yellow band that runs across the top have you ever seen this before and How could this have happened I have another and it has the logo and every other one I have ever seen does also maybe you can help me?

Hi;Klozd I did not mean to sound like I was trying to question your grading I was just curious if all the Hulk 216 35 cent variants have that crease on the cover don't know if this would affect the grade any or not mine is really not all that noticible. I Have always been very interested in how manafacturing errors on comics happen especialy Double covers I also have a 35 cent variant with the Marvel Comics Group logo missing from the top how could this have happened . I have never been to the factory where they are put together but I would sure like to sometime to see how it all works. I think that comics must go through some sort of rollers after they are stapled to fold them if this is right that must be where they got the printers crease maybe they were folded through the rollers before the cover ink was fully dried causing the covers to crease in a few places but this is just a guess. Are their any one on hear that has been to the factory or worked their that can explain how these errors occure I would sure like to know. Klozd I was wandering does your Hulk 216 variant have a printers crease on the right edge of the front cover just above the red banner"Countdown to Castastrophe" I have seen three of this issue and they all did and I don't know about the other two but mine also has a printers crease on the back. If yours does their must have been a problem at the factory with this issue at least the 35 cent one's I have also noticed every Ghost Rider #26 variant I have seen also has a large printers crease on the front cover to. I will attach a scan to show what I mean. Just curious if all the Hulk 216 variants are like this . Also If anyone can rember what variants Motor City had I would love to hear.

Great find on all those variants did you find them in the dollor boxes or did you have to pay full price for them? It is always exciting to find a 35 center in the cheep boxes . I found a Nova #12 in the 50cent boxes in a Comic store in Nashville TN. and even though it was in such bad shape that cover was falling off I was still as excited as a little kid with a new toy . What kind of condition is the Hulk #216 in?

Does anyone know which 35 centers Motor City had for sell any tough to find ones like Sgt. Fury or Super Actions?

Speaking of Chicago did anyone hear that went see any variants for sell I think Motor City comics was their were they selling variants again. I sure would liked to have gone but I had to much stuff I had to do. Did you go darth?

The way Star Wars #1 have been selling as of late I am shocked someone has not hit the Buy it Now. Does the person who has the two western variants have any more and does he plan to keep or sell if he wants to sell I am interested!

Great find on that X-Men 106 Darth I missed that one I have been reading post hear for a while but this is my first post not sure if I can contribute much useful information but I hope I will be of some value. Also just wanted to know if I could join the price variant club?
