  2. 1 word.

    Brett.

Aka the guy who runs Campbells booth. Brett witnesses every single signature that Scott does.  Consider him an official cgc jsc witness. Hence the gold lable cgc stuff.

Also if you don't bring a witness to the Campbell booth to get your pre signed campbell book... Green label. Cgc must witness you get the book directly from Brett. The COA is nice but meaningless.

Michael Turner's (RIP) raw sigs out there are unwitnessed by any cgc official therefor green label if submitted.

Must get on Hughes FB sketch list.... must get on Hughes FB sketch list.... must get on Hughes FB sketch list

He doesn't work on blank cover comics for those just a heads up! Im going to try for the 40$ head sketch. Thats the only time he'll draw on a blank for grading. Best of luck tho! 1000$ is a lot to spend! I love Hughes but not that much lol

  4. Yes, Fan expo will release a special ticket package down the road which includes meeting Jim and getting a book signed for CGC purposes.  Jim Lee charges for his autograph for cgcing so all these costs will be included in the ticket.

I'm sure he will do a free public signing as well but those are only for raw autographs and cannot be cgc'd.

Kevin Boyd here in this thread is the best guy to ask about it tho. He organizes all the comic related jazz for Fan expo

First post! Live in Toronto, and have gotten back into my comic collection as a nostalgic child of the 80's... (rule of 25!).

Really pumped for this, will be my first con of any kind! Jim Lee was my hero growing up - hoping to get my first SS of my Uncanny #248 (just for me and the wall on my man-cave!)

Be prepared to spend a lot of money haha. You'll need to buy a "special ticket package" to get a cgc autograph for Jim Lee.  You'll see as this is your first con, these things are designed to squeeze every last nickle out of you! That being said you're gonna have an awesome time. My first fan expo canada was a blast.

  6. Whats being lost in all this is, even if a flipper is upcharging for an autograph, at the end of the day little billy or suizie is going to get a book signed and authenticated by cgc and it's going to make their day. Maybe they can't afford to attend and this is the only way of getting a gauranteed authentic signature.

Personally, as long as its not blatant price gouging, (No reason to charge upwards of 200 for a pre signed campbell book!)  let flippers do their thing. If its a real issue for the creators then limit the number of signatures to 5 per person. It'll keep the lines running quick and smoothly. Also Dan Slott needs to stop having half hour conversations with every fan. God bless his soul he's an awesome guy but man, talk less sign more haha

lol you will be the first person I contact. Never once gave her any input beyond what character I wanted. It was worth the wait. Now, we see what CGC thinks

Grades don't mean squat to me on commissions. For me I grade them to authenticate the artwork and signature and protect the book. Nothing more. I'd pay the same for this book at 7.5 as I would a 9.8. Amazing book tho man. I don't get jealous easy but i'm pretty green right now!

Well since we are sharing our Natali Sanders....I just received this today.  Headed to CGC as we speak.  She said she hoped she did the character justice......uh, I give that a hell yes!

Charles..... If you ever. ever... decide you need to sell this book make sure i'm the first guy you contact! take all my money! Hell take my money my 86 camaro and my firstborn! I need this book in my life! lol

  9. For such a smart guy Dan Slott is awfully uninformed.

There actually ARE people out there who fill the lines with their employees, or pay people to stand there with stacks of their books, all for a way to turn those free signing times for personal mementos INTO large paydays. That's not fair to everyone who misses out.

This makes me laugh the loudest. No one is making money off your name Dan. This also brings me back to my point in my previous post. Sam needs to do some serious damage control here.  Talk to these companies and talk to the facilitators out there. CGC is becoming a pariah here. These creators think that anyone grading a book is just doing so to flip it clearly.

I'll wait and see what happens in the future but if this is the case, i'm done with creator sigs.

  10. ok here comes my rant/2cents

    A) Bleeding cool reported this. nuff said.

    B) Ive been to many many many cons, and gotten a ton of sigs. this has never been an issue before. (Even stan lee's handlers were ok with window bags!) Nor will it be in the future. Stop blowing this out of proportion.

    C) Should this be an issue again, which I highly doubt, then maybe Sam should take an active role in informing writers and artists more about CGC. MOST of us are collectors first and foremost. not flippers. I like my sigs slabbed for protection and authentication purposes. Sure there are some who make a profit off of it, but its the same in any signed item field. Sports stars etc. You comic creators aren't special.

CGC should look more at the facilitators and their ever growing stable of artists and writers who whisper in their ear about making more money off collectors from CGC autographs. It's a total joke. Scott Snyder for one was always happy to sign a book for me CGC or not, now all of a sudden it's an issue. I hope Sam talks to some of these guys because from what I can tell CGC is quickly becoming a pariah in the comic creators world.
