Hey folks. Just venting a bit here, and at the same asking opinions.

I decided to go after a book recently at a public auction, and I won the thing. So I'm all set to pay for the thing, and have it shipped, mildly annoyed at the high commission fee anyway.

Then I see their shipping charge.

for ONE book, mind you.  And I had just left the Post Office after sending a book through to CGC, so I'm real fresh on rates for insurance, registered delivery, priority etc.

What would you think is egregious, and completely unacceptable, for 1 book?

$50 ?  $110 ?

How about $249 ?  That really pissed me off, to the point that I called them and asked what gives, and what does that price entail? They wouldn't even really answer my questions, but told me to contact their shipping department directly. One Voicemail, one email, and 1 day later...not a word back.   >:[

So, what do y'all think?

I think I might be a good guinea pig here, after submitting at about 4-5 tiers at Baltimore Comic-con. Submitted all at the end of the day Sunday...9/28 ?

Walk-Through:  CCS pressed, graded, ship date back to me: 10/11/2017  

Express:  invoice date 09/28/2017 ...still at CCS 11/3  this is my gripe... listed turnarounds are 8 days @ CCS, 6 days CGC.  We're at 25 BD as of today.

Economy...yeah...not gonna be for some time.

I had hotels that charged $40 a day including overnight, $37, and then a daily panda lot on Sunday hit me for 20. So.... $137 for parking, thurs night to Sunday departure at 6 pm.  I swear someone used the Light street parking deck's elevators as latrines. Good lord, the overwhelming stench.  The parking cost more than I spent on food and beer, and was a really aggravating extra expense. I stayed, and parked a few blocks from the con as proximity was needed, especially as i was carrying boxes, or toting my handtruck with short boxes in the morning and at night from and back to the hotel, or to my car's trunk. I had a good time at the con, but otherwise... not all of my experience was optimal.

Made it to  Baltimore as well.  I had a pretty good time, talking to random people while waiting in the interminable lines for artist signatures.  Really not cool to see certain artists' lines capped before they even showed up for scheduled signing. This was the first show I travelled out of state for, and while I had a good time, I think I need a better game plan in the future. My plan was not helped by the ridiculous lines at the booth for these guys. A 30-minute wait for a witness... I gave up another time... and I was not the only person voicing that opinion. I'd never seen or heard of that before. Being the backwoods rube that I am, the price of parking was outrageous, even with the help of  parking panda.

That said, I had a surprisingly good time. I actually got to have some decent chats with artists, met some people I kept running into over the 3 days, and surprised myself with purchases. I bought  ONE comic , and it was a brand new variant. I spent all of my money on original art and prints that I got signed! 1 commission cover sketch, 1 original page, 2 double page original spreads, 1 full page pose, and 1 piece of the convention yearbook from the onsite auction. Oh, and I happened to have 2 copies of The Boys #1 with me for slabbing...so I was unexpectedly but rather well prepared for the surprise visit by Garth Ennis! 2 signed books and a picture with the man himself!

Yeah... 5.5 or 6

I've got a book for sale in this one... held over from the auction last month as there was already a book of same title and grade. Keeping an eye on it, ends in  a a few hours.

Well, bought a few books recently, easily the best of which was this one! What do you think?

Frankly, I'm not sure if the crease thing on the right front over the cover is the obvious printing/manufacturing defect.  It's a hell of a looker for 5.5 though.  :[

Sure enough -  came back as a 5.5.

Uggghhh. What I thought was a crease/wrinkle on the back cover is actually a 1/4" tear -  right at the top of the cowboy's hat.

I'm wondering about the dirt/shadowing/dis-coloration along the right edge. What looks like a tear on the right near Icicle's shoulder is actually a printing defect.. so this thing is in really nice shape otherwise. Not sure if that will knock it down.. anyone hazard a guess or provide info? What options might be available to deal with this?

certainly beats the 1 book I submitted for pressing and grading in person at Heroes Con in Charlotte in JUNE 06/2016and just received 12/21 - more than 6 months later.

This is an apropos thread, for me. Handed CGC a number of books at a show 7 weeks ago; some to be pressed, others to be just straight graded. I've gotten 2 books back. 2 show graded status.

Invoice date 11-19-2015

4 books are now being pressed/were pressed? Not sure where they are in the process. I'm hoping for mid-January, which would be a 2-month turnaround.
