  1. Growing up the main villain in this series was the lamest villain I knew. I hated seeing him in a book that I was reading because I knew it was going to suck.

After reading Alias I was a little more inclined to like him.

After watching the 1st episode I am now a fan. That was a great 1st episode.

Sometimes characters work better in one medium than another. Granted it is usually they work in books or comics and suck on the screen, this one just goes the other way.

  2. I do not think that the Alias vs NYX 3 comparison is that accurate. NYX has risen steadily with no real rumor of a TV or Movie attached. It has been far more gradual and steady as the character has grown in importance in the comic universe. Alias 1 did not really start to rise until the initial TV rumors back in 2011 and really started to pop once Netflix confirmed the series.

Now that does not mean I think either book is going to crash. Alias should have a little more growth in my opinion, but Marvel needs to continue to use the character. Jessica is still a c list character in the comic universe, while Laura is now being promoted as an A list comic universe character. Now if Laura ever gets rumored for a screen, NYX 3 could go absolutely nuts, so I still think that book has more room for future growth.

  3. 1100.00 for a 9.9/highest and only one on census for a trending property with a large appetite is a deal

How much did you think it should sell for?

I cant answer this question without being perceived a capitalist. So Ill say this:

Being that this it the ONLY 9.9 on the census and the only listing for such a (popular) item in that grade, the seller made the mistake of listing it at a 1500. Esp since he is accepting offers. I believe that if he listed it at, say, 3500 or 5000 he wouldve gotten higher offers.

It is the only 9.9 yet. Yet is the key word here. 2c

Yes, I expect a few more to show up. It will never be a high volume item. Even if 4 or 5 more are found, I can not see that having a profound effect on value.

It is getting a little fast. Looks like they are down to 3 1/2 months form 4. :makepoint:

  5. JJ may turn out to be a show that is liked better by non-comic people. It is not like any other comic books show I have seen, and that may be why it is getting mixed reactions by the comic readers community. You always take a risk when you try something different, for some it just did not work out. Your opinion. I like it and my non-comic reading friends really like it.

Despite that raw are still selling for $100. :P

  6. I am always reluctant to sell off OA since I know that I will never see it ever again. Only once have I lost an auction for OA and seen the page turn up again. (I lost it again as well)

OA is tough because it truly is one of a kind. Comics can be replaced. Most of them anyway.

I have 3 or 4 OA stuff I am agonizing over selling. I would love the $$ to buy other things, at the same time would I miss it.

  7. I sold most of my old X-Men about 3 years ago. I had from about 40 to 544 continuous at one time. I do mildly regret it, but now I would rather have them back as high grade, rather than the mid to mid high I sold off. :D

I also sold Saga 1 about 2 years ago, I am not a big fan of the series so do not miss it from that standpoint, but do miss the extra $100 I could have gotten.

By the way, I find it even harder to sell of OA.

  8. Yes 2nd and 3rd prints are really smoking currently.

3rd prints have remained pretty steady and slabs aren't much higher than they were a few months ago while yes the 2nd prints have tripled.

I didn't think 2nd prints would hit $350 in 9.8 this soon, with only 94 blue labels in 9.8 and a very limited number of those for sale, can a $500 sale be far behind?

Again, black covers are a pain. I have been looking at the eBay sales and even books going for $50 plus are not what I would call very high grade. Most seem in the 8.5 to 9.4 range, which is surprising for a 3 year old book. There is visible color break along most of the spines, and many have fingerprints.

  9. I don't believe this book is now suddenly a modern "key". Movies and TV show appearances don't turn first appearance books into overnight "keys". Books of note, perhaps but not "keys".

That term is bandied about far too casually.

    -J.

But, I think we can say with confidence that slabbed 9.8's will maintain the 250 to 300 range. NM raws will comfortably live in the 100 to 125 range. In addition, the book has jumped about $40 for raws in the last month, and about $75 for slabs. Maybe not alot of growth left, but the prices should be stable.

  10. I think there is still little left on this comic for issue 1. I can't imagine Jessica not making some type of cameo on Luke Cage's series, and they have confirmed her for the Defenders series. I think season 2 for this series is very likely at this point. The price has stopped its rapid growth as of about 1 week ago.

  11. Modern Slow Track, 8 books

    Received 9/8/15

    Verified 11/9/15

    Scheduled for Grading 11/12/15

    Modern Fast Track, 11 books

    Received 11/4/15

    Verified 11/11/15

    Scheduling for Grading 11/17/15

    Graded 11/19/15

They seem ever so slightly faster. On MST it seems to be consistently received to verified about 2 months. Verified to scheduled about 1 week. Then about 1 week to be actually graded. Then shipped. Turn around time is down from about 4 months to 3 to 3 1/2 months.
