  1. They def. look to be the same, I will buy a pack and let everyone on here know!
  2. wow ok cool, yes on my second purchase of graded comic bags I will def. purchase from Clear Bags, hopefully it is the same exact thing and then I save some money. Of course for the raws I will always use Mylar and full backs, since they need as much protection as possible. I wonder, do you think these sellers just purchase from Clear Bags and resell or go to a producer and just make an identical product and up sell? They probably can get away with the former since there are no trademarks on the bag, but I'm very curious now.
  3. Hey newshane, a big thanks for the insight! Thankfully I only purchased a very small quantity as I was just testing them out, and yes I totally agree it's very misleading if what you're saying is true. Also I've learned that irrespective if it's not Mylar I guess I prefer the material Diamond uses - will reach out to them and confirm. What I don't understand is I checked your reference to the Clear Bags web site, but they seem to be advertising their own proprietary product - while the ones I purchased are of a "Diamond" product. When I asked another seller what graded comic bags he used he also quoted "Diamond". Are you sure they're both the same product (not questioning what they're made of or etc.)? I'm going to research this more of course and update as I get answers.
  4. So I got the Diamond bags from eBay and for me, these are the best ones so far! I can make a perfect flat edge with the flap Looks really good yet pliable (yup made of Mylar still) The resealable adhesive works really well and looks real slick, no more playing with tape Here are some photos including how it looks in the BCW bin (if you noticed the bagged one in the bin on the far left is the old one, right is the Diamond one): I still owe you guys a review of the archival stand - waiting to receive mine in the mail!
  5. Immortal Hulk 2 Zaffino cover (9.8) sold yesterday for 760 on eBay.
  6. When you choose the reholder option they normally keep the grade it was given unless there is suspicion, for whatever reason, that the grade on the holder does not truly represent the current condition of the book. Common examples are if the holder got damaged pretty bad, mishandled poorly, cracked opened previously, etc. In most cases though, reholder service upholds the grade that already exists.
  7. Painters' tape - the most common ones look blue, although you can buy them in white as well.
  8. Hi Bracks I'm currently testing different Mylar sleeves including the ones you just bought - I will keep updating as I go along. You can follow the thread here:
  9. The BCE 238 bags came in and I found them better than the BCW Mylars. I liked the following about them better: I could pull the flap down and not have extra Mylar I have to fold over from the body over the slab, like the BCWs. In the BCW Storage Bin, it actually fits smoother when inserting the bagged slab and removing. The Mylar is still strong but somewhat slightly more pliable in a smooth way then the BCW, feels nicer. I have attached a picture so you can see, it still does have the "batman ears" on the top corners which I find funny. The slabs both look equally stunning from the Mylar material. I have ordered an Acrylic Stand from CGA and the Resealable Mylars by Diamond.. I'll let you know how those two pan out, more to come.
  10. There are no boxes for storing graded books spine down, most people just put them in shelves like this: https://goo.gl/images/VbhAa6
  11. I only saw an eBay link posted up for this, here is the official link of that company: https://cgagrading.com/OnlineStore/AcrylicDisplayCaseStandforCGCGradedComicBooks.html
  12. I don't think anyone has solid evidence of this, as per reading through the forum of similar threads. So at the moment the conventional vertical positioning is the one mostly prescribed by authorities including CGC.
  13. No spine down, so horizontally with the spine facing down and right hand side (where you would turn the page) facing up.
  14. I've read the numerous threads on this forum about the topic on how to lie the slabs, and it seems to be inconclusive everywhere. I feel the safest maybe spine down, although CGC has been quoted on here saying vertical along with cool and dry of course is the way to store. Using bins do make vertical a practical way to go though.
  15. Yeah that makes sense that could happen - so spine down horizontally would probably be the most optimal way of storing them. What say you?
  16. Yup that's how mine is as well. I find the squeeze a bit tight on the sides, like when you pull them out the Mylar does brush against the sides a bit much for my taste.
  17. thanks for that. Yeah I do the whole tucking thing at the moment - I do find it's a tight squeeze in the BCW graded bin though. If I'm putting any type of bag on it, I have to go Mylar just for the way it beautifully presents the art work. Might be a placebo effect, but I feel the Mylar almost heightens the art a big
  18. newshane I'll have to update this thread once I recieve the BCE 238 Mylars, I suspect they will be a better fit. Practically speaking though, I might start doing away with the Mylar bags. Between the CGC protection and them being stored in the BCW bin or showcased inside my glass door case, it's plenty of protection until I do the reholder for the cases (every decade I think?). Will keep the thread updated.
  19. You are completely right, the slab is definitely a huge barrier of protection, not to mention so is the Mylar the comic is encased in inside the chamber plus the inserts they put in the comics. I believe for most collectors including myself the extra Mylar bag is used to protect the slab from finger prints, scratches, etc.. Additionally in my opinion the Mylar bag makes the whole presentation look more shiny and presentable. For example the slabs I show case get handled by others or myself to appreciate the art work close up. After a while the Mylar may get a bunch of finger prints, dust, and you just replace the bag. I think maintenance wise it's easier and again, it looks pretty nice visually in the Mylar.
  20. A BCW Bin is just a plastic case made by BCW that holds either comics or graded comics (there's one for each). They are pretty cool, they have latch doors on the top that can be locked. You can order these on Amazon, just search BCW Bin for comics.
  21. Yeah I have a horror story with that as well - I had several documents and cash with mold in a couple months. After that incident I was done with safes, I can't take the risk of having to monitor humidity and maintain it. In the future I was just going to get like a locker or some cage and put them in an inconspicuous location as you, not as secure as a fire\water proof safe but camera surveillance with speakers and an alarm should make it an undesirable spot as well
  22. So according to this link from this thread: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/406908-graded-comic-bags/ I came upon this product which is 9 x 13 1/2 w/ 2” flap, so It's basically 3/4 of an inch shorter (product no. 238): https://secure.bcemylar.com/graded_comics.cfm I tried to find a picture of the BCE 238 but only found someone posted a pict on it with the older CGC slab: https://forum.cbcscomics.com/topic/2190/page/1/good-mylar-for-the-new-cbcs-and-cgc-slabs/ The dimension seems to work though, probably will try them out.
  23. Yea I see the 914M2 is 9 x 14 1/4 - I use the BCW graded Mylars which are 9 x 14 1/4 as well. There should be one out there that's either the same height or slightly shorter than the slab so that only the flap is going over the slab neatly. I'll have to research this, because when you fold over the flap and some of the body of the Mylar, it gets all crumpled and like you said you have to do it a few times.
