  1. Question, since you're using the Mylar with the flaps, do you also have to bend the flap over and a little bit of the body of the Mylar over the slab? For example I find the slab is a little shorter then the actual body (excluding the flap) of the Mylar.
  2. According to the links CGC says: I think I'll stay with vertical lol. Which magazine box do you use?
  3. Mylar with flaps? I thought vertical is preferred to horizontal?
  4. Hi OP, yes you are correct signatures must be witnessed by CGC in order to get a signature series label. You would get a green qualified label - you can read more about it here as this was answered before https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/410927-treatment-of-unwitnessed-signed-comics/. In my opinion, collectors don't find signatures that have not been officially witnessed by CGC desirable, keep in mind I'm talking about people who favor CGC signature series slabs. There are those who don't mind a raw signed book or another grading service that validate signatures, although honestly there is no 100% proof way of validating signatures, which is why CGC doesn't do it unless if by witness. Lastly there are those who don't even like signatures on their books period, and only collect universal blue labels. Hope this helps, feel free to reach out with anymore questions!
  5. Hi OP, I would recommend that yes, you learn about grading comics and try to apply them to your own books (members I see have already provided you with lots of great DIY grading resources). I would do the following: Take your top 3-5 comics you've graded yourself and submit them for grading. When your submissions are returned, compare your grades to that of CGC - you may even want to return to the forums to question why the grade you anticipated turned out wrong. Once you have a solid understanding on what your comics may be actually worth, you can go ahead and start to organize and plan what you will do with the rest of your collection. Hope this helps, feel free to message me for any help!
  6. I currently have a BCW graded comic book bin to hold my slabs. I cover each book in a 2 mil Mylar graded bag with a flap, and use painters' tape to hold the flap down. When using the Mylar bags they create a very tight squeeze in the container and obviously take up more room. I was considering using the 2 mil polypropylene resealable bags since they are more pliable, a flap-less bag, or just leaving them bare. The slabs anyway have to be replaced after every decade no (along with the chamber inserts)? What have all of you found to be the most convenient and practical when storing your slabs?
  7. Thanks! I checked it out but I find it odd for example when they have a picture of the book, and the owner's description says "signed by john doe 4/05" but the picture already shows that on the label - perhaps that description was done before a picture was available and they just left it there?
  8. Should you make a custom set in the mean time if a set doesn't already exist for comics you have?
  9. Where can you see the notes? Do they mean notes directly on the label?
  10. Anyway to confirm that? I don't see a legend anywhere on CGC describing that.
  11. I've noticed two icons in the registry sets, one is of an eye, which is a clickable URL to a picture, but what does the icon that looks like a document mean? Also if you have a comic that doesn't belong to any existing set, besides requesting a set, is the only way to register is to make your own custom set?
  12. Could you please add a set for "The Old Guard" (Image Comics 2017)?
  13. I'm not contesting how they should make their money, what I'm asking about is the regulation of the pricing of the comics. For example, if said price of those X amount of comics are 3.99 a pop, I'm sure Marvel would have a fit if they were selling them for 4.50 each (or hell maybe not even). However, when it comes to those ration (incentive) comics, publishers seem to let the vendors have free range on what they sell those for; I'm just curious if that's the case, if it is fine, just wondering how it works.
  14. So yes the variants with no ratios are not an issue to get, but it seems anything that is 1:100 for example, immediately goes into pre-order with a jacked up price - those seem to never go on sale for anything close to a regular comic book price.
  15. So I've noticed companies such as Midtown Comics and DCBS services will put these limited edition covers up for sale at very high prices, like 400 dollars for a PRE-ORDER. I've taken over a decade hiatus from collecting comics - but "back in the day" a limited edition cover\comic would go on sale just like the rest of the comics to give fans a chance to pay MSRP (or some fair price). Are these limited edition covers just given to distributors now and priced at what ever speculative price they want? Obviously on the book themselves there is no 400 dollar price tag. If there is a "fairer price", since I'm not sure it's a given nowadays you should pay 400 up front for some of these limited editions, what are some sources besides the ones I mentioned to buy or pre-order?
  16. APOLOGIES lol, I just noticed that in 2016 they started putting the page quality under the grade, rather then the middle of the label. Is there any reference however as to the list of page qualities a comic can get currently?
  17. Question, when a CGC label doesn't have the page quality on the label what does that mean? Does CGC not do page quality anymore?
  18. Nice I'm up to issue 15, going to read tonight. I wasn't sure if that was her, her sister, someone else, b/c in 3 or 4 there is no picture in the story that quite resembles those pictures on the covers, and the face I feel doesn't perfectly match hers. Espcially cover 4, it look like wires were coming out her head, and cover 3 looks like an older person. I could be wrong ...

  20. can anyone clarify who is on cover 3 and 4? Is that Xialian?
  21. It would be great if we could get a comma delimited list, so we could just copy and paste it in our existing block list.
  22. Still waiting to join, but at 550 on ebay, feels way over what gpa is averaging... guess I'll have to just keep on patiently waiting. At least I got the Forbidden Variant Signature Series double signed at 9.9, I really think that cover is underrated, I love that you get to see the trio on the cover.
  23. How much is it usually for him to sketch something so detailed like that?
  24. Never thought about doing it that way, that's pretty cool. What kind of marker was used?
