Your *Two* Holiday Wishes for Comics Santa
creaturefan95 replied to exitmusicblue's topic in Comics General
Dear Comics Santa, I wish for: 1. Someone to list an ungraded copy of Frontline Combat #1 in acceptable condition on eBay 2. That someone to have low shipping rates and a fair asking price that is within my budget -

I was never sure if "Classic E.C. swipe" referred to the stories inside that issue or its cover until I found the answer in Squa Tront #8: There are other instances of Stanmor Publications swiping from EC in the same issue: The cover to Battle Cry #5 is reminiscent of the one Kurtzman did for Two-Fisted Tales #28:

If War Comics #11 gets any hotter, I may have to start collecting Silver Age Marvel war comics instead!

One thing unique I recently noticed about Battle Cry is that the early ones actually have the year they were published along with the month printed on the cover. Do you know if any other war comic did this? No. 4 is interesting for how shamelessly it rips off EC by rearranging panels lifted directly from Frontline Combat and Two-Fisted Tales! It's a pity that the later issues contain nothing but reprinted material as they have some of the best covers in the entire run! I've only ever seen two in person and there is not a lot of them to be had online either.

1. I don't have nearly as many 1950's war comics as you 2. I started with Atlas, got hooked on EC, and now crave more of the DC Big Five 3. Do I desire a complete run of Frontline Combat? Absolutely! Do I think I will ever have all 15 issues of that title? Maybe someday -

I have a nearly complete run of the 1990 Ghost Rider series. I just need to find issues 69, 85, 87-92 in the wild. -
