  1. All the other big Silver Age keys have their own club threads, but I can't seem to find one for Dr. Victor Von Doom. If one exists and is buried deep in the archives, please tag me in it and I'll dust this one.
Never before has any one human being been as totally supreme, as invincibly superior, as Doom. Surely this issue deserves it's own thread!

    **UPDATE**

Consider this thread dusted. Doom Lives! In this thread here:

Not sure I'm seeing any discoloration there? Anyway if there's an eye appeal issue with GSX it usually involves the bottom portion of the artwork being too close to the bottom edge as in Wolverine's middle claw not fully showing. Another one is the spine showing on the front cover but being skewed in one direction. I actually prefer the text on the spine to show on the cover so long as its straight down and not skewing off sideways.

There is some. Slight discoloration and browning is common on a lot of silver and Bronze books with white covers. It's subtle but noticeable. The other 9.8 didn't seem to have it.

Just a heads up on using the taxex method to see what a book actually sold for.

George with GPAnalysis mentioned here that using this method isn't always accurate.

I don't know why it's not always accurate and didn't ask for clarification, but wanted to put that information out there.

Is this site accurate? I usually use this:

    https://130point.com/sales/

Just had to use the go back machine to see what x-men prices have done over the last decade or so.

An x-men 129 just sold for over $9000.  It was a nice one and a newstand copy which drove the price, I think.

Those were not great deals in 2008.  They were good normal deals.  Today, they would be unbelievable deals.

I was very confused about that 129 result. Was it signed or Mark Jewelers or something? I tried looking it up again but can't find it.

  5. Would an actual receipt be necessary to prove a purchase or sale?

I've tracked every comic related purchase I've made for the last six years in Excel. But I don't save receipts. I just mark what I bought, date, purchase price, etc and if I sell something, record the date, sale location, sold price, fees and shipping costs. I keep an annual tally with a goal of at least breaking even. I rarely turn a profit.

I'll probably be fine with this tax thing, but I buy and sell a lot. Sometimes large purchases, sometimes cash. If I don't have individual receipts for those, I assume my little excel sheet won't matter to an IRS agent without documentation?

  6. I was gung-ho about snagging everything until the Vol 3 #1 had two bazillion variants. Now, I only grab the "normal" variants and the retailer ones that look cool enough to spend money on. I wanted to get all of the 800 variants, but stopped when prices started dropping. I'll probably revisit in a year or so and go back and pick up the leftovers.

I did manage to get a Ditko B&W 1:1000 variant for cheap and had it come back CGC 9.8, so pretty excited about that one!

Historically - on the show variants every morning he puts out X amount they sell out in less than and hour and do the same the next day. The idea is that everyone gets a chance each day, I also have experienced that they only allow 2 of each book per person of the show variants each day when they do that

Thanks. This was my first chance to buy from his booth at SDCC. Now I know!

I saw one guy post that.  I'm guessing they must have only put out X number of books for sale on preview night and held back the rest for the actual con beginning today.

I also see someone running with the 1000 print run number, but again, no confirmation from an official source.

Yeah, they had plenty when I went this morning. Got my set!
