I get blanks on ebay. At conventions, there are some dealers that will have a box(es) set aside with only blanks. If a small comics publisher is at a convention, they may also have some blanks.

Can you tell us what you've learned since you started on these creations ?

CGC will slab sketches on comic backing boards as part of the Signature Series. CGC has holders for rock posters (about 14 x 20) and various magazines, so that would hold modern art-sized boards.
If you're asking if CGC will grade original art, I think they can. But it's a one of a kind so what would that mean ?
Do you want CGC to authenticate a piece of original art ? That's a totally different service. Depending on the artist, any number of dealers and collectors can arrive at a consensus.

You'd need a strong personal reason to give it away given ins importance and value. Like if it was stolen goods.
A strong personal reason is that you have no heirs. Or that you did not think it would be appropriate for your heirs to have it (or end up fighting over it). Or pestering you while you're still living. Which are reasons why you would not tell anyone that you held the art.

Your analysis is very humane, but Stan's brain didn't work that way.
I would think than rather staying anonymous or downplaying his donation, Stan Lee would have broadcasted it and there would be publicity pics/billboards.

Haven't posted a link before from my phone, so I'll look into that. For now, try searching under "SF con" on CAF and pics should come up.

Re: OP's original question... Big Apple Comic Con hasn't had a large convention space in quite a while. So the number of pros (and Artist Alley overall) is not that large. Unless there's a very rare appearance of a specific person, I would not fly into NYC for a Big Apple show. The New Yorker Hotel is not even laid out well enough for modest sized comic show.

It could be generational thing but modern artists are also younger and easier to contact online. Even if they don't have reps. Why wait for a show to sell art ? And @Nexus seems to be doing just fine working at his own pace.

Technically it's Josef Rubenstein.

Yes. And not the same person as colorist, Buzz Setzer.

I agree. If it's supposed to be Quesada's siggy, it does not look right.

Storm... just a guess... Buzz.

That really needs to be re-inked correctly before it's lost forever!
I've always wondered/hoped if there was (or will be) some process where vintage/legacy ink could become "re-pigmented" at some microscopic level as a restoration procedure. Kind of like electroplating. This is loosely how a laser printer works. You precisely create charges on the paper that attract the laser toner then fuse the toner to the paper.

Does not look like Buscema to me at all. Only the Torch’s face is vaguely reminiscent of his style . Definitely ‘70s Marvel style , but not sure it is Buscema
I thought it was Ron Wilson.
I guess it's a pro and a con of the Marvel house style. Without more context and artist credits, John Buscema could be taken to be Ron Wilson ?

That sounds like an "official" CGC grading question.
Let's face it, prior to the CGC SS, Overstreet indicated any writing on a comic would lessen the grade. But CGC says a witnessed signature does not lessen the grade. Supposedly if an artist draws on a comic, that doesn't lessen the grade. But if the artist dings a corner, it does. So much for artistic freedom.
If the logo is sanded off, would CGC even notice ? They would only know if they were comparing your comic to another copy of the comic. Also, there are lots of sketch covers where the artist drew over the logo. Maybe the artist can cover the entire comic with gesso (essentially white paint) ?

You could say "screw it, you keep the 90% and the art".
You could pay the remaining 10% and receive the art in timely or reasonable fashion.
You could pay the remaining 10% and still never receive the art.
Let us know how it turns out.

Here's the origin of one of the pieces in my collection by Michael Nasser / Netzer. I bought it after the video was recorded. Whatever you're doing, Mike, I hope you've been well.
