Found it. Thanks, JJ.
Has anyone ever pulled a lot from HA or other online auction ??
I'm asking based on chatter on these boards. There's a lot of talk about what something could/would/should go for. And it's just talk until the lot closes. Does anyone know of any instances where someone sent something to the auction and listened to the chatter to get a better idea of price and then pull the lot ?? I assume you'd have to pay HA a listing fee. But you'd save on the commission... or avoid seeing a piece end up going for a lot less than expected.

Is there a secret version of HA.com ?? I can't find that Batman 251 listing. I mean just to track it because I'll be blown out of the bidding.

It's rare to flip $10,000+ art (there are certainly exceptions). But for lower priced art (e.g. not Watchmen, KJ, Byrne X-men territory), one could also observe flipping as market research.
For some people that consider early bidding to be "price discovery", flipping could be late bidding as price discovery.

The seller might have the entire book. Just ask.

I ordered one custom sized Mylar OA bag
What were the rough dimensions ? Was this a recent purchase ?? Was there an odious upcharge for special orders ??

I think the figure looks to be very skinny/narrow. Otherwise, I think Wagner rendered it nicely.

So we should be careful about explaining why something looks wrong.
I don't even have Marvel art from that period but I know enough to observe lots of problems (without going into detail).
Current bid is $410. I just find it amazing that someone would spend that kind of $$$ but not really know what they're buying.
But bidders are hidden so who knows how many legitimate bids/bidders there are. Maybe they're all shill bids.

Nick Cardy. No surprise.

You mean Joe Frazetta ?? Just kidding, Going on instinct, I'd say no,

Seriously, show of hands: who's pulled out cash and bought from The Brothers?
Me. 1991. Flash 226 page 8 GL backup story by Adams / Giordano. The last page to the first half of the mushroom story. The second half was all Giordano. $ 260.00 (no comma).

It looks like @artdealer actually has printed descriptions/prices on the art. So... yay.

Having grown up reading almost 95% DC (reading other kids' comics accounts for the other 5%), I am not that much of a John Buscema fan. I simply don't associate him with my favorite comics. But I thought he was among the top 5 favorite Marvel artists. Am I wrong ?? It seems like there's a pent up dislike of Buscema. Or is it just Buscema's Conan ??

Well, there is that sign that says "cosplay is not consent".

Were you a collector before becoming attached and/or having kids ?
In any case, now you have less options:
Teach your kid to throw a 90 mph fastball left-handed. Doesn't matter if it's a boy or girl. 90 mph can get you to "the show".
For a long time, I've believed that (in the near future), almost all jobs (except pretty much medical, legal, engineering) can be learned without a college degree or some kind of "official" certifications. There's been a general discussion on the value of a college degree these days. Send the kids to YouTube University.
Lottery.
On a side note, I've also had a (probably non-provable) theory that big collectors (however you'd like to define it) are generally non-smokers. Why ?? Because, even as kids or young adults, we'd rather spend $$$ on comics and now comic art rather than cigarettes.

It's Rosenberger/Colletta, and $300. I'm in the process of buying it.
Ugh. Looks more like Mortimer, maybe if I saw the whole story. In any case, I would not buy it. But enjoy ir.

At $150, I don't think anyone outside of comics would buy that particular romance piece for themselves or another non-comics person. They'll think it's a piece of c_rap with all the paste-on art and glue stains.
Better off putting it out as a mass produced poster.
And there's tons of "quaint" romance art. Lots of twice-up Iger/Eisner art with romance or western/romance (e.g. cowgirls) that might look even better on a wall. it might cost a little more than $150 but whatever.

I could see this piece having crossover appeal...up to about $150.
I have my share of DC romance art and I wouldn't buy it for $150.
For Win Mortimer/Vince Colletta art, I'd hold out. And if one or more pieces of the paste-on art falls off, even Rick's wife may totally lose interest.
And I think your point is the OA market is not going to be supported by $150 pieces.

Played catch-up today and listened to the last 2 podcasts featuring Dr. Stephen Ferzoco and Ron Sonenthal.
I'd be interested in seeing more of Dr Steve's (c) collection on CAF. Ron's collection... always appreciated his DC art.
@Nexus You asked Ron if he saw who took the phone bid for the EQ. Ron responded that he didn't see. I've been wondering about why you asked. Is there a significance to WHO took the phone bid ?

I've been coming around to the viewpoint that the more I post, the more expensive the next attempted purchase becomes - or, seen from another perspective, the harder others work to thwart the next acquisition.
I think if a collector has posted a certain number of pieces from a certain title or artist... picking a random niche title... Micronauts... that collector's leanings would be well established without having to post even more pieces. On the other hand, one of the ways to get pieces coming out of the woodwork is to demonstrate demand for it (want lists) and establish prices to get that piece into the marketplace.
A character with broader appeal... e.g. Batman... also has a large enough following to drive higher prices.
