I'm not sure this is the right thread but I was hoping the community could help me identify which Superman comic the attached image comes from. It looks like a splash page but I'm really not sure. Any ideas would be appreciated

I so appreciate all your input and will update my sales listing appropriately. May I ask what people think is a fair estimate?

No bleeding noted on the inside cover. I wonder if I should repost this over on the restoration thread?

Thank you for the above responses. I am adding two additional photos of the spine as someone pointed out that a bleeding spine may be signs of an attempt at restoration. I bought the book through an auction several years back.

My apologies for the failed attempt previously. Any thoughts on grade would be most appreciated. The rest of the book is without significant wear or tear. I’m most concerned about the cover the ink squiggle through the title which appears someone tried to erase. Thank you in advance.

Sorry for quality of photos. I am a Luddite with tech. Notably, there is an blue ink "tornado" through the FF logo and wear throughout the cover. Inside is intact without significant wear or tear. The cover is the weak link. Any thoughts before I put it up for auction would be most helpful. Thank you in advance

Just picked these up from a local auction. Low grade but they still look good to me and boy do they smell great!

What a wonderful show! These were my favorites. I don't have the history that many of you seem to have with Jon Berk but it was really spectacular to see these beautiful books. I made sure to bring my kids to see works of art that they don't often see.

Just for the record, the "3.0 Moderate copy" was the report to me by a third party and prior to any mention of the PW Auction. Lesson learned..

That is where I landed 1.0-1.5.

just another side note, Philip Weiss couldn't be a nicer individual. We had a conversation about why people would use his auction rather than CC, Heritage or CLINK. He made the argument that in a smaller enterprise he can showcase important books that might otherwise be lost in these larger auction houses. Not sure if that holds up really holds up so well for the buyers since the premiums are much less in at least CC and CLINK. I had never bought from Heritage. At Weiss, in house or live bidding is 15% and 13% if paid by check or wired transfer within 10 days. FWIW.

Yep. That was it. A real headache of a day. The book and setting (another story) were described to me very differently. I simply didn’t have enough experience to asses the level of the book's restoration at the last moment. All the pages appeared to have been detached and bound to the spine with rice paper and tape. The FC and BC back cover looked beautiful (3-4) except the right lower on the front. PQ was tan vs brittle pages on lower 1/3 of first 5 pages. I could not tell if it was a married cover, but certainly possible. No gross evidence of trimming but WTHK. I brought a black light and didn't see any obvious color touch or major restoration, though I am very much am amateur. Before seeing it, I had a rough idea of 25-30K in my mind. Once I saw it was raw and with all the above, I was very very unsure. I bid up to 17 and then bailed. Of course, I am kicking myself today after reading this thread that it was still a bargain.... I think there should be an emergency consultation service for situations like these, where members pay a monthly/annual fee to experts who are on call to answer questions that might assist in such purchases. Like when someone needs help in a pinch...Nah, that's just me bellyaching...

It turns out the book is raw,no restoration to the cover jacket (which looks great and seemingly untouched at least with my measly UV light and loupe) but all the pages (complete) had been detached and essentially re-connected to the spine with small amounts rice paper and tape. A really nice looking attempt by an amateur but far from the 3.0 reported to me. Not sure what it is graded but food for thought... will keep you updated if I pull the trigger

Thank you for input! Very helpful. Will follow up after tomorrow. BTW, my comment about conservation/restoration and the limits of GPA was more about an impression I got from various boardies and by no means dogma. Always interested in learning about other helpful resources.

I have an opportunity to purchase an Action #7 3.0 with moderate restoration including color touch from a local dealer. I'm a relatively new collector. The problem I am having is I don't have a good database upon which to make a judgment about its fair market value. I'm told that GPA is of limited value as more and more GA books are being restored and conserved. I was hoping to use the expertise of this community to get some orientation for an estimated range for a book like this. Once I have photos I can certainly include them. Any thoughts would be very helpful.
