  1. Agree on the cool interiors in Mystery Men #2! Here's the Rex Dexter story by Briefer, one of the more weirdly wonderful stories from the issue. (Courtesy of ComicBookPlus)
  2. This one just doesn’t come along very often. 2nd Mystery Men. 2nd robot cover. I think my favorite pick-up of the year. I know, I know, you’re wondering: “What was the 1st robot cover”? That would be Smash Comics #1, arriving 1 month earlier.
  3. One of the best Fights IMHO. My 3rd favorite. (Just behind #5 and #12.)
  4. But, but, the gorilla comes in peace! He’s bearing flowers! Totally fab book!!
  5. That book redefines the definition of yellow.
  6. This Lou Fine original art for The Count of Monte Cristo story ("from the Murphy Anderson Collection") was first published in Wags Magazine (4 November 1938) for distribution in the UK and Australia: Less than a year later, when Eisner and Iger set up their shop for US distribution, and thin on new material, they reused this same page for Jumbo Comics #7 (April 1939 cover date; on-sale date of 7 February 1939):
  7. That one's kind of nice, I guess, sort of. Well, okay, yeah, it's spectacular.
  8. Lou Fine was really hitting his stride at Quality Comics with this quality comic!
  9. Another classic Ricksneatstuff sales thread for the ages!
  10. I was following that book closely. In retrospect I’m very glad I didn’t enter into a bidding war with a drunk guy!
  11. Thanks for sharing that! Totally awesome!!!
  12. I love Di ck Ryan’s manic funny animal work at Centaur, and that’s coming from someone who’s not a funny animal guy. He’s a highly under-appreciated artist. Did he do much else outside of Centaur?
  13. Well, every now and then there is an absolutely jaw-dropping post in this thread. This book is one of them.
  14. But that jersey #34 you've got ranks right up there with the finest of wardrobes!
  15. So, like, now that all the dust has settled an' all, it looks like Lou Fine comes out on top, right?
