  1. Welcome to the Golden Age, Spaceman_Spiff! Love that moniker!!
  2. Thanks for the thorough play-by-play, Karl. Very informative indeed!
  3. For sure, yes, this how it looked right as it rolled off the printing press. A snafu during the color separation process, with out-of-register alignment of the C/M/Y/K printing plates. Straw-Man on these boards actually collects these curious oddities.
  4. Looks great! Just wondering, what options did the restoration person give you, in terms of how extensively to refurbish the book? Was the goal always to obtain a Conserved grade, and if so, what did they tell you about how to ensure that the book wouldn’t end up with a purple label? There’s been so much chatter and confusion on the boards about what distinguishes Conserved from Restored, any insights you gained through the process would be most informative.
  5. Well done, Gino! A beautiful family! And it’s especially nice to see you are singlehandedly creating the next generation of GA comic book collectors!!
  6. Fantastic, Steve!!! I must've missed this with all the mayhem and merriment over the holidays.
  7. +1 to the Jumbo 9! Scrappy but complete -->
  8. Hi Bob. Get well soon! With that appendix out, I’m sure you’ll be even stronger, faster, wiser, and more charming than before.
  9. Though they’ve done that by design, not by ineptitude. CL likes keeping things close to their chest.
  10. Bagnoli was the bees knees! His artistry on Futura was spectacular. Splash page from Planet 55:
  11. Thanks for the great survey of artists! No doubt many of the finest artists of the early Golden Age passed through the Fiction House corridors, not only between 1940-1942, but all the way through 1953. Speaking of which, here is a Planet 37 shoutout from 1945 by Lily Renee (courtesy of comicbookplus):
  12. Four of the best! Love the deep purple (no relation to the rock band) on your #14.
  13. Two Eyes is better than One. Plus, a Centaur "Checking Copy" on the right Eye.
  14. And three are better than two. Get crackin', Jack!
  15. The minute I saw this book (like, 0.5 minutes ago), I knew you would claim this book! Congrats.
  16. Cat, that’s fantastic!! I’d love to get a Brundage Weird Tales OA cover, but prices are just too stratospheric for mere mortals.
  17. Back atcha Artboy! Hope you had some comic book-sized packages under the tree.
  18. Oh man, I love it!! Great grab! I was watching that one closely on CC, but had to preserve my resources for a different gem.
  19. Wow. Back when full transparency was a thing. Could use a lot more of that these days methinks.
  20. Now that is GA awesomeness at its finest.
  21. Ditto. Anything Fletcher Hanks worked on was sheer brilliance. Both Fantomah and Stardust shared the same theme of unmitigated punishment for the perpetrators. Kind of like taking the whole superhero vigilante thing to its ultimate conclusion. In the land of funny books, there’s still been nothing like it since then.
  22. OH PHOOEY STRAWMAN BEAT ME TO IT. Anyhow, here is my trifecta, a trifle next to BP's TRIFECTA.
