  1. The color touch from a pen or marker will seep through the paper on the other side, always open the front cover and check inside
  2. scoonfunk Won 2 auctions for slabs and never paid, had to file a case to get fees back
  3. Don't grade books as 9.4, 9.6, 9.8 because the buyer will hold you to it. Take good pictures/scans Put in the description any visible defects "spine stress" "surface wear" "fingerprint" If you advertise 9.8, you are just going to sell to a flipper who thinks it won't slab out a CGC 9.8 and will want his $$ back since he can't make anything off of it. Don't give out grades. You are just screwing yourself if you do.
  4. Sold for 59K in January https://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAdmin%2FCL%2Fauctions.asp&id=1297653&next=%2FComicTrack%2FAdmin%2FCL%2Fauctions.asp Its the same book, just got reholdered.
  5. This book sold for 60K - a record Now he tries to flip it and only ends up with $33,499.80 after CL fees minus reholder/shipping costs on top of that.
  6. If it's a 9.8 with grader notes, you should send the book back to get regraded so it gets a lower grade cause we don't need mis-graded books in the marketplace. j/k some collectors actually think like this. If it's a 9.8, close your eyes and take the money.
  7. Some buyers just hold a seller to a standard that is impossible to obtain, just unrealistic expectations, then they go on Amazon, order stuff and don't say anything about Amazon's poor packaging. Amazon basically just throws your order in an empty box and that's it. However, on eBay, Someone orders a $1.99 comic book, they expect you to pack it up like it can survive a fall from outer space. Mental illness runs rampart in the comic collecting community
  8. Add mr_goodbar80 Bought a Hulk 228 CGC 9.4, complained about the condition of the comic inside the holder and said it was "damaged" and that I need to send the book back to CGC. The book wasn't "damaged" He just didn't like the defect that made it a 9.4. I told him I have no control over how CGC grades a book and blames me for not mentioning the "damage" in the listing. ( I listed over 100 slabs in less than 48 hours, I'm not looking over each slab to see if I agree with the grade or not) He then proceeds to tell me he's filing a NAD for "damage" so ebay will force the return. I can't stand these nit picky buyers, you ordered a CGC 9.4, you got a CGC 9.4. You are buying CGC's opinion. Buyer's need to ask questions before they buy if certain defects on the book bother them. It's not the seller's fault for how the book looks.
  9. If anyone has heard the news from this past eBay Open, some big changes are coming in the future Managed payments with have a feature that you'll be able to print off shipping labels from instead of paypal All items listed will require an all white background (think amazon listings) FVF will be deducted from your sales instead of being billed monthly eBay delivery will open (much like Amazon FBA, you send your items to an eBay fulfillment center and they will store, pack and ships out your items to your customers on your behalf) Multi user access to your ebay account if you have employees New Seller protections
  10. When someone buys something, you're supposed to ship it out in a timely manner like normal, but the money is in ebay's hands until it's released, which from beginning to end can be a week. It's not like Paypal, where the money is in your account to do whatever you want with it right away. If you've ever sold on Amazon, it's very similar to that, the money from eBay is released (your sales) after about 2 days, then takes another 3-4 days for it to appear in your bank account. Amazon sends out payments every 2 weeks (minus fees and returns)
  11. Yeah cause that "Other company" has much better turnaround times I guess
  12. eBay has gone to Managed payments, and it takes 3-4 days for payment to reach your checking account. You enter your checking account number and eBay will send you daily payments, After a week ebay now has $1100 of my money on hold because "they need to verfiy my bank, before making anymore deposits" So I had to take a screenshot of my bank statement so they can see the bank logo and account number matches while I wait 48 hours for answer, cause I guess the first time wasn't good enough when I entered in my info. Stay away from managed payments for as long as you can. However, it will be forced on everyone eventually. A big downside is that shipping labels are still done through paypal and when you print a shipping label, that money doesn't come from your sales, it comes directly from you before any money is deposited into your account. It can get costly if you suddenly have a lot of outgoing orders and don't have the funds to cover it upfront. So right now, I have $1100.00 on hold, out the cost of shipping labels, product has been shipped off all because of managed payments. Glad the CEO is gone. He was a joke.
  13. I literally just had an eBay return because the buyer didn't agree with the 9.4 CGC gave the book and is blaming me for not pointing it out in the listing. Said I need to send the book back to CGC to "fix the issue". People that complain like this automatically go on my bock list and ebay is the only place where a buyer can return a slabbed book for how CGC graded it, Item not described forces the return
  14. I just added a major Neal Adams Batman find that I recently got back from CGC as well as a few high grade X-Mens and ASMs Hightlights Batman 232 9.6, 251 9.6, 237 9.6 Detective Comics 400 9.4 X-Men 78 9.8 ASM 129 9.4 Hulk 181 8.5 https://www.ebay.com/str/eternitycomics
  15. Looks like a bussell wheel riding on the image, they are supposed to be riding in the gutters. If it wasn't that, then it could be from build up on the angle bars or on the former board on the nose of the folder. Ink can build up so much from running it can break the web if it's not scraped off. How CGC grades something like this? Who knows. You'd have to ask them.
  16. Interior pages didn't get trimmed on the foot of the book. That jagged edge is from the knife box inside the folder where it gets cut. Supposed to be trimmed off.
  17. Tickets can be purchased at several comic book stores in the CT area, you should have bought them in advance. Poor planning on your part? I was there Friday so I'll give my take on the show from what I saw/seen. I got there Friday at around 1:30pm and the line is so long it's unbelievable. I texted a dealer whom I press books for and said "The line is literally 6 miles long and I'm at the end of it" He texted me back "I'll come get you" gives me a dealers bracelet and say "ok, lets go". Get in, give him his books and I take my stack over to CGC and they take me right away from drop off. So then I start walking around real quick from dealer to dealer for a peek to see what dealers have on their walls. I did pick up a super nice FN/VF copy of Scooby Doo #1 early on. I'm looking through more books and asking to see this and that, books are very overgraded and dealers want an arm and a leg for them. One dealer had a Detective 880 Raw on the wall for $475.00. I can buy them all day online for 150-200. Every dealer had an ASM 300, again high prices for VF copies. I understand the dealers travel costs, time, hustle to find inventory, while I found a lot of nice books, I can't justify paying $200 for an ASM 252 with color breaking spine creases. A few local dealers were there and ended up buying a DRK Returns set, Watchmen 1-12 set and a few other things, ASM 316 I picked up for 60 looks like it could be a 9.8. Thor 390, 2 copies of Black Widow 1 (1999) + Variant. Got a nice deal on a 9.0 ish copy of All Star 58 + Gi Joe 21 and DRK 1. My buddy Eric couldn't find anything he wanted or was interested in picking up. He was out priced and so was I, Convention pricing is like going to Disneyland where they charge you $20 for a bottle of water. I'll probably go next year since it's local to me. I was just there for the comics, don't care about the celebs, autographs, sketches, cosplay, action figures or anything of that nature. Nice show overall, just wish the comics pricing was better.
  18. If there's a 10.0 copy out there, I'm sure it'll turn up in one of Foolkiller's submissions
  19. Add 3 more deadbeats to your block list marvelvault - non paying auction winner 3bearzcollectiblz - won auction then asked to cancel right after cova_35 - non paying auction winner
  20. I was thinking pebbling for some reason
  21. Everyone knows CGC has better eye sight than the average person.
  22. I have heard of stories from a dealer I press books for, him telling me about people using CCS for CT removal only to have pieces missing afterwards cause they just cut pieces out. CCS has so many books to press they don't have time to do it properly. Matt Nelson said in a Reggie Simmons youtube interview on pressing that "we don't add anything" So that just tells you they don't use a hydration chamber, which takes a few hours to get the moisture into the book. Lessons learned. Stay away from purple label books at all costs, unless it's an Action 1/Det 27. Find a 3rd party presser who presses correctly and has better turnaround times than CCS. Of course , Stay away from the T Shirt pressers on Facebook.
  23. Went to this show last year, it was pretty terrible if you're looking for comics. Wanna dress up and buy t shirts, posters and car insurance without a large crowd? this show is for you.
