  1. I Think I got a rather good deal this week. Paid the equivalent of about 750 US$ for: Avengers 51 to 100 and 173 to 195 (about 50/50 of cent and pence copies) Iron Man, mixed issues between 6 and 69 plus 118. (about 50/50 of cent and pence copies) All in F/VF condition. Picture of the goodies that made me jump on the deal.
  2. It was the name of my favourite rpg character 20 years ago, hissing and serpentine in his ways (hence the extra helping of the letter s). The avatar...well, I do love Wolverines' way of trouble solving.
  3. Do you have links to those online porn comics? For comparison, of course. Yeah, comparing...
  4. I guess I bought a collection. Almost everything Spider-man since 1998 (50 issues short of a complete run of vol 2 of ASM). A lot of reading ahead.
  5. Thank you. Was on the fence about grading this, I will probably be better off spending that money grading my Wolverine 4-issue run.
  6. It feels a bit "frayed" at the edge opposite the spine, as if miscut or something like that. Higher resolution images can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/4HpsI
  7. Got my tax returns recently and kinda went on a binge. I am NOT a responsible adult.
  8. I love math so hard!! And thanks, info about the measurements helps alot.
  9. Shipping and costs for supplies I was looking over my collection and it struck me that my need for bags and boards increases almost exponentially every month (I know, I should buy less comics!). But bags and boards are apparently worth their weight in gold. Do they really cost that much to ship across the Atlantic? Do anyone here know how much space a couple of thousand bags and boards would take up, are we talking package or pallet shipping here? Let me give you a calculation as an example of what we nutty European collectors have to put up with (with examples from what I need): From E Gerbers website: 1000 Mylites 2 Current: 155$ 1000 Mylites 2 Standard: 160$ 1000 Full backs Current: 135$ 1000 Full backs Standard:140$ From Archonia (only decent shop in europe carrying E Gerber products that I've found): 1000 Mylites 2 Current: 355 Euro (about 390$) 1000 Mylites 2 Standard: N/A, probably in the same range as the Currents. 1000 Full backs Current: 280 Euro (about 308$) 1000 Full backs Standard: 298,8 Euro (about 328$) This however excludes shipping. E Gerber doesn't ship outside the US (I asked them via mail).
  10. That would be a dream come true, but the market wouldn't support a comic shop here. Rent for retail space is abysmal (I've checked, I once had an idea for a store containing everything geek/nerdrelated collectibles, loot, litterature and similar) and taxes are beyond evil agains small businesses. I have however considered if anyone would buy and ship me some gerber products, Hard to figure out the weight and volume for it though. Maybe a pallet is the way to go?
  11. What is your major collector focus then?
  12. Reading about that comic heaven that you are living on your side of the atlantic puddle have got me thinking... It would be ideal for me to pair up with another collector from the forum and sharing in the hunt for drek. Someone who hunts longboxes and have a main focus on DC and indies (as my focus is Marvel). I take the Marvel and the other fellow take all other stuff. I made the calculations, and shipping a long box from the US to Sweden (around 300 comics sans bags & boards) would cost about 200$, add 50$ for a long box of drek (sure, 25-30$ is a sum that's mentioned above, but the hunter/sorter should have something for the trouble) and it would still come out at less than a dollar/comic. To give you some perspective, "drek" over here goes for around the equivalent of 2-3$ each. (On the other hand, one can strike gold sometimes as not all are as astute on to what might be valuable) The problem is, where to find a trustworthy compadre.
  13. Spent about 140$ on this lot, Uncanny X-Men 219-238, 247-270. It may sound like alot, but 266 was in there, and to my surprise, in near mint condition.
  14. Another week, another delivery. Might have overpaid on this though...
  15. A selection from today's mail, everything arrived at the same day, yay! Some random, a few appearances and a pile of Wolverine. Oh, and some Kool-Aid in the middle of What If Vol 2 nr 87 from 1996. How long is Kool-Aid usually safe for consumption?
  16. Putting oneself into a "buying time-out", how does one do that?? I mean, the comics might just pop up for the grab, and money exist on my account. Food expenses can be reduced, ramen is a good staple food for any collector, right? You just don't "not buy comics". It's unheard of!
  17. An update, it sold for about 208 US$. I set my max at 200 since I have other auctions I'm aiming for too. Well someone got a good deal anyway.
  18. Bah, Ikea meatballs. I'll send you some surströmming instead, that'll put hair on your chest. And in your throat. And intestines. It's basically a desire to pillage and plunder put into a can. With extra odour.
  19. It's quite clear that it's not a NM, but I'd still say that it is in quite good condition. Your comments have at least motivated me to scrounge up more funds and go a bit higher on my final bid. Will keep you updated coming Sunday what the final price lands on.
  20. That much? A bit out of my range at the moment, hoping to snag it on the cheap side around 200 - 250 tops. Fingers crossed.
  21. It's a solid seller with good feedback, I've won auctions from him before without a hassle. I've added a link here to the auction itself. It's all in swedish though, but at least there are more pictures. http://www.tradera.com/item/112801/277225152/marvel-spotlight-vol-1-no-5-august-1972-issue-nm
  22. Bid or no bid, how high? I am keeping a close eye on an auction for Marvel Spotlight vol 1 nr 5 (first appearance Ghost Rider, but I cant decide on how high I'm willing to bid for it. What do you think is a reasonable amount for this raw copy (see image below). Keep in mind that I don't have to pay toll or exorbitant shipping costs since it's on a Swedish auction site. How much would you pay?
