Wow, it's been a while since I've seen one pop up. Looks more VF+ than NM- to me though.

I don't know a lot about the Turner Supergirl cover (Batman/Superman #4 German), but I believe the reissue that caused a bit of a stir was the Aspen SDCC one right? Well, that one to me was different enough to not be as big of a deal.

B/S 4 was a Euro cover that reprinted a page in an existing comic though. The SDCC variant wasn't all that scandalous for those reasons.

For ASM 666 retailers were allowed to order as few as 500 copies of their store variant.

    -J.

That's definitely not the norm though. I suspect they allowed that because there's no way a store could move 3,000 copies of that variant. Even 500 would be tough.

WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS WILL DO TO THE ORIGINAL?

Well, the Supergirl German Turner variant is still selling for $1,800 in 9.8 format. The Aspen comics virgin of that cover that was released this year (and much better looking frankly) is only about $250 in 9.8. So if that's any indication, I doubt it'll affect it too much.

Might also be a good time to buy it as people may panic flip it for cheaper.

What I wonder though is it says only 1000 released online. Does this mean another 2000 will be released at conventions?

I'll tell you a duh moment I had last year guy from Italy lists two original sketches by Dell'Otto in pencil . Both were small but very early stuff 2003-2006ish. He offered both to me off eBay for $ 180.00 Canadian I said no I just wanted Spiderman . He went ahead with his auction , Spidey got North of $ 400.00 on his own. What a dumb move that was. One I regret because it was cool image of his head and very early piece.

Just out of curiosity, did you know about this? Seems like its right up your alley if not.

  6. GI Joe Lot includes 60 issues. Reading copies, but mostly VF or higher. Asking $30 for the lot.

GI Joe 1-24 (by Image Comics).

GI Joe 25-29, 34, 43 (by DDP Comics) Issue 25 isn't pictured. Looks like it got bent in the box and has a gnarly crease in it.

GI vs Transformers 1-6 (by Image Comics)

Man this is kind of disconcerting that they don’t sell well a few months after these books release. Thought the artists and series would help it survive a little longer. Or, maybe the saturation on eBay hurts the value a bit.

Quick flippers right now are definitely saturating the market. But I think it's the reality of store exclusives. Currently, they just don't hold short-term market value. I will say though, it seems like it takes an average comic 3-5 years to mature in value. So time will tell if they are good long-term investments.

I tried but by 2:01 I missed it. Sold out on the virgins.

I wouldn't worry, just wait a few months before you scoop it up. There's probably going to be close to 150-200 9.8s out of there by the time all the companies selling it slab their pre-sales. This is before regular people do. Metal 2 also has a 700 print run vs the other's 600. Metal 1's Ultimates Virgins are already below retail cost, 4 is getting close, and 5 no doubt will as well. Just wait a bit and I'm sure this one will be too.

And just when I think Aspen can't sink any lower, they wind up proving me wrong yet again. During thier recent 60% off sale, they didn't allow people to cash in reward points and use the gift cards from those reward points. This is the first time Aspen has even taken this route. I have just enough reward points to get one final $25 gift card that I have been sitting on for like 3 years. As soon as I heard everything on the site was going to be 60% off, I was planning on finally using those reward points so I could purchase one of the Supergirl sets since they were only going to be around $35 during the sale. That means I could have gotten the set I wanted (the one with the german variant cover where Supergirl has Superman's cape draped around her) for just $16-$17 shipped, but when I went to the rewards page, the option to cash them in was no longer available and through a comment on Facebook, I learned this was purposely done during the 60% off sale. Had I known they were going to do this, I would have simply cashed in my reward points before the sale started.

Please, you were rude to them on Facebook, not to mention the bolded comment is not even close to what they said. When I asked them, they were happy to retroactively refund me the $25 if I made a purchase that day.

They even extended the sale another 18 hours to as an apology for anyone who couldn't purchase it.

Aspen does have a big problem of trying to continue to capitalize on Turner's legacy. I'd agree there. They really need to move on and try to make more original content.

How many of y'all are ordering a Mystery Box? I've never ordered anything from his site, but at a little over $10 a book, it's hard to go wrong...............right? I assume most of what you'll get is the variants he has on sale at $15, but the 25 book box should have SOMETHING worth a flip (you can take that either way) in it. I may take a flyer on one of the 25 packs, keep what I want and see if I can move the others for at least $15 at one of the many cons I do.

    Thoughts?

I would agree it's likely just the junk he can't sell on his website going into the boxes. Keep in mind it may also be stuff like Midtown exclusive copies that retail for $5-6.

This makes me wonder.... who color these covers??? Is it true colourist only gets $5,000 per cover?? That's cheap change.....

i always thought that with photoshop and all the photo software out there, Campbell would have been colouring it himself.....

He usually posts who does his colors. Nei Ruffino is one of his more common colorists. According to JSC's splash page, Sabine Rich did the Gwen's, and Ula Mos did the Black Cats. Also, the $5,000 was an educated guess. I've heard ballpark numbers of other artists going for around $10,000 for a cover, so $5,000 seemed in the realm of possibility. Could be more, could be less.
