  2. You know what I want to know: Who was hotter back in the day. Debbie Harry or Kim Gordon?
  3. It’s hard to bid on these books when you guys keep getting them taken down. interesting strategy to scare off other bidders.
  4. Spidey will never die. And once The Chinese discover comic collecting.....
  5. I’m gonna be in NYC next week, too! Let’s meet at CBGB’s and see Talking Heads or we can hang out at Duart Film Labs i might have to live there half the year (I don’t wanna) now and no, Los Angeles is arguably the best city in the world. buzz is kinda right on the rest of his point but that’s not what you asked, is it? I’ll curse st marks comics till the day I die. Oh they went out of business. No? Gee wizzz
  6. wasn't there some drug store owner collecting in the 30s? I dunno. I may have just made that up.
  7. To any of the lawyers here, speaking of the McMartin Preschool Trial, is there a course on that trial in law school much like "Jarndyce and Jarndyce" was taught in legal classes in Bleak House?
  8. thank you. i'm currently reading a book about the "Satanic Panic" of the 1980s (D&D, Jack Chick religious tracts - now there's some OA I'm down for, the McMartin Preschool trial, satanic themes in He Man Master of the Universe, Rock & roll, etc) and the book describes Werthem's tone as "Sardonic." I of course know the book but have never read it, however, I thought the good Dr. was straight up serious.
  9. I'm sure the pictures are to die for, but how is it as a read? Thanks in advance
  10. sounds as if you've answered your own question. So, as you asked, "16 years from 2019 is a 9.4 going to be 6x $454k?"
  11. I'm doing the best I can. It's all I can do.
  12. I hope the comic book market does not crash, as I would like to sell mine in 20 years and maybe make a buck or two. I've got some really pricey comics and some not so pricey. Ultimately I have no Idea what a 9.4 AF15 will sell for in the year 2035. I'd have to imagine that would have a lot to do with what's happening globally in the year 2035. How something is a "bulletproof" investment is beyond me. delekkerste is a board member here who I only know of through reading his/her posts. He has interesting ideas (I think) about the comic market. I was attempting to get him over here to maybe get his opinion on the question you directed towards me. He has ( I think) the right idea that at some point these kinds of gaines (what a book is worth) can not continue. But what do I know? Not much. My financial advisor said yes to me buying one really pricey book. He has said no all other times. I do what he says and my portfolio does very very well. I know he talks a lot in terms like "in the long run" and sticking with something for the "long term." Honestly I'm usually staring out the window as him and my wife talk. I'm keenly aware that comics can be enjoyed many ways, not just as an investment but since you're asking about what's something will/might be worth I'll keep answers along those lines. Imagine putting a sign atop your house with it's worth on it as it changes daily. It would be maddening and crazy making as you pull out of the drive each morning and see it's worth 30 grand less than yesterday and so on. I think it's crazy making to keep such tabs on what AF15s are worth, unless of course that's your thingee then have at it. Anyways, where was I? Umm my wife happens to know the niece of a famous artist (now dead) and she wants some OA from her (him) so we'll see. It's actually a pretty funny situation. You do not tell my wife "no" but my financial guy said "no" to me buying some Dark Knight Returns OA, so let's see him say "no" to her.
  13. @delekkerste to the white curtesy phone, please
  14. yeah, the 86k in 2003 thingee is a little difficult on the psyche. I'll go with #3 also.
  15. for some reason your avatar looks like the director Joel Miller behind the camera from a scene from Bloodsucking Freaks also alternatively titled The Incredible Torture Show.
  16. yeah, it took me a GSX #1 to figure out that painful and expensive lesson
  17. thanks. i thought there was a CGC 10 #1. I could look at the census but I choose to remain in the dark.
