  1. My wife is a social worker. Here in Los Angeles the Governor sent trailers to Dockweiler (sp?) Beach to help contain the virus with those experiencing homlessness because that community is beyond vulnerable. The LA department of Mental Health was suppose to head it up but they have there heads in their butts so my wife and her team of smart, rad tough chics took over the beach and brought homeless that have had covid 19 symptoms to quarantine them. This population has so many problems, but my wife and her team are tackling it all. I bring them food sometimes down there, to the health care workers. I'm in awe of what they are and have done. I've worked in the film biz for three decades and I've never seen anything as impressive as these woman (and some men) are doing. Full medical teams and they are just going for it. I'm not sure how it will end, but it's amazing to see in action.
  2. Well said! You be you! Technology is a virus. No good will come from it.
  3. No doubt. To be fair you made no firm commitment either way concerning the ludicrousness of your possibilities of outcomes.
  4. What happens when you drift onto a comic book site for some fun and a grim day? Let's see, where to put the corpses when social darwinism comes to town. Gee, I dunno, San Diego Comic Con? Hey, let's see if our front line Health Care workers/ first responders survive with no help from us. Are they tough enough? Yeah, you're not a doctor. It kinda shows.
  5. maybe Steve Ditko was right and I was an insufficiently_thoughtful_person for paying the kind of money I did for a comic book. I honestly like the Ditko letter better than the AF15. Coming in 20 years for all to laugh. (either at me or for me or with me remains to be seen....)
  6. No. When you use that thing you spray mud. The water sprays the mud, oh forget it, it ain’t comic related.
  7. Who ever posted the bum gun and toilet needs to understand how that is used. I have traveled in Singapore Iraq Africa. All around. In Iraq I almost lost my marbles I’m a bathroom ad people spray their bum and fecal water puddles fly everywhere- floor, ceiling. And the next person comes and sticks it up their bum and sprays mud. Seriously, man, no. You’re own house. Only you use it. Ok. My wife was so thrilled she took a bowel movement in a Singapore squatty potty she came runing out for joy. I was just never brave enough. Just spray mud everywhere?
  8. I’m a simple man. I paid attention in nursery school (be nice to others, treat others the way you would be treated, etc) and my schooling went downhill, unfortunately, after that. therefore, what the heck are you talking about? John bought the book? Why? Or perhaps I’m misunderstanding your post. That very well could be true.
  9. but will AF15 survive? I'm rubbing mine with hydrogen peroxide solution. If I don't I fear AF15 will not survive, but is rubbing the book with hydrogen peroxide considered restoration?
  10. i gotta go fight people for toilet paper today. The Redhead is making me. I'm gonna bring my slabbed xmen collection 94-143 and a no-date submariner (old style - no maxi case) to trade for toilet paper if it comes to that. It's sad day for the hobby.
  11. thanks for the answer. I love the idea of some of those Yoe (forgot his first name) reprint books of old forgotten strips but you pick them up and you can't make out a damn thing. It's just all bleed or whatever. Except Fletcher Hanks reprint books. Don't know who Fletcher Hanks is? Only the greatest talent in the history of comics. Puts Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Ditko, all of them to shame. Read all about him. Study him. Sell all your comics and just get Fletcher Hanks stuff. In the meantime You shall die by your own evil creation! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fletcher_Hanks
  12. roy's got some damn fine Dark Knight Return #1 9.8s. That would be too much for neckless (along with the "Roy was Right" neckless) so I suggest getting a grill like the rappers, fake gold teeth, and it could say he has the best DKRs
  13. are those secret war action figures worth big money. Was working teenage job at a now long gone department store and there were racks and racks of these items. I was, umm, more interested in the Super-8 film in the camera department and the Kodak mailers where you could mail your super-8 film to Kodak and they would process it and return it.
  14. i've been told this many times over my lifetime so there is probably some truth to it.
  15. a negative is a negative. and when it's used repeatedly decompensation occurs. So an interneg is made, but over many uses that deocmpensates. But whatever, just thought some genius out there may know. Moving on.
  16. I'm telling you the Pokemon/magic-the-gathering card table playing business in Little Tokyo by my fav Shabu-Shabu joint is a seething cauldron of funk. Covid-19 would die if it got inside that place. I'm telling you cons and some comic shops are the safest places to be now.
  17. so there is an internegative and it is a generation removed?
  18. you don't happen to have any kind of Comics Journal (or the like) article, interview or whatever about Miller and this, or Shooter and this and if you did, would you be kindly willing to post it? I like Miller a lot and have not heard this (not doubting you but back in the daysI just read the comics and not all the behind-the-scenes drama) and would love to know more.
  19. If original artwork is given back to the artist and a reprint of that book is happening, does that original artwork have to be retrieved from artist? I'm guessing some sort of internegative is made of original art at time book is originally published and that internegative is used for reprinting purposes. However, at least in film, an interneg in considered a generation removed from original camera neg. Which is why Criterion Collection tries their best to go back to original camera negative, so...... are reprint books a generation removed art wise, making them, well, a generation removed and the negative things that come with that?
  20. Wonder how the media decides what to rant and fear about. Like why this and not that.
  21. looks fine as is. It's a cool copy of a cool book. Someone(s) thru the life of this book has enjoyed the heck out of it, as it should be. Take the 500$ and do something for your wife. Not only is the this the right thing to do on a multitude of levels, the chances of her buying you another cool comic greaten
  22. We call that Heavy Lifting. As in, please do all the Heavy Lifting for me. I visit regularly at a nursing home just to talk to some of the folks who have no one to talk to. It helps me and it seems to help them, but boy do I have to do all the Heavy Lifting in those conversations. But, hell, least they got an excuse. Some of these guys helped put us into space working at JPL and now they can't tie their shoes. Life is a cosmic joke that ain't funny.
  23. I'd buy a low grade She Hulk #1 and spend the rest on grass. I personally know there are many low grade She Hulk #1 out there cause back in the day when It came out I used to throw them across the room cause they sucked so bad. Look for low grade Team America #1, also.
  24. Various governments can't figure out how to tax grass and many grass places or going out of biz here in LA and it's back to the black market. They figured out how to tax booze but when it comes to weed, they over tax like crazy and a guy opening a shop can't make money, so.....
