  1. Somebody brought up comic book Facebook groups on a thread somewhere, going as far to say the groups are kinda destroying the hobby. Being bored on set between takes, I'm always game to float around these groups and chuckle at the nonsense. The ones I see are pretty ho hum with no chest pumping quality over quantiy never read a comic in your life kinda places. Suggestions?
  2. Swamp Thing 21 was Gooooodddddd! "Warm, large plops of rain litter the sidewalk." "I left the chess board until all the pieces turned to sad blue dust." (The latter is from whatever Swamp Thing were he goes to other worlds.
  3. i'll keep this in mind, however, I don't want the X-Men #118 to be further damaged.
  4. i'm not as quick as all you cats on my toes or I would have tried these funny suggestions. When he said that to me, I just felt uncomfortable. Anger came later. As a rule I don't do good with confrontation and try to avoid it. I'm pretty easy going but anger quickly if you're a d-bag and I end up with assault charges.
  5. but there are gems. like Southern California Comics in SD. YOu gotta try, althought I'm getting pretty tired of trying.
  6. doesn't everyone? Attended first comic con in 35 years and walk by his table and he starts yelling at me that I'm collecting comic wrong, all the while he's half doing and sketch and half eating a hamburger which is dripping onto the sketch. I honestly thought he was clinicly nuts.
  7. looked up comic shops on magnolia blvd in burbank trying to find it.
  8. No. It was called Blast From The Past Toys, Collectables and comics. https://m.facebook.com/blastfromthepastinc/ if you scroll down the page and see the dude with the Santa hat on, he's the one who made the stupid comment. total junk store
  9. i'm gonne delete the Neil Adams Crusty Bunker thinge cause I'm not sure.
  10. just buy on the boards, or in Houston with Mr. Bedrock, roy or bob and call it a day. I'm too old to be going in turdy stores. It's a waste of time.
  11. yeah, not much gets passed her. that's for sure.
  12. I think 79$ or 66$. I may be wrong. Saw the crease and stopped in my tracks. Price no longer mattered.
  13. oh is that what was going on? not sure this technique.
  14. Was waiting for The Redhead at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, Ca and had some time to kill and found a new comic shop (to me) on Magnolia Blvd. that had some back issues, but mostly stuff for the Funko crowd. Owner asked what I was looking for, said the Claremont X-men stuff, you know, 94 - 143. He pulled out a raw 118. There was a huge crease in the lower right corner that broke color and I said thanks but no thanks. "Why?" "Not a fan a the giant crease there," pointing to giant ugly crease. "Oh, you're gonna let that bother you?" I thought that was such an odd thing to say. Yeah it bothers me and I'm sure you were the first to point it out when you bought it from whomever you did. Owners buddy (?), employee (?) piped in, "Yeah that wouldn't bother me and tried to make me feel stupid for, I dunno, caring about condition. Walked out never to return. Good luck with the Funkos, pal.
  15. That’s the only mistake you’ve made? Damn if making mistakes was slam-dunking a basketball, I’d be Michel Jordon.
  16. Oh, it took me a full 28 hours to get the d-picks Joke. Thought it was a Ditko typo. apologies to whoever I jumped on. Just don’t usually ponder d-pic jokes. Pretty good tho. Hats off to poster.
  17. The niece is very attractive actually. DId she send me pictures of her? No, I've seen her in person. Has she shown me pictures of steve? Yes she has. She always speaks well of him and said he was a fun-as-all-get out Uncle. The wife's has been asking niece about the OA and I tell her wish she would not, but my wife is incessant at trying to get a piece "at fair market value" and niece seems to not mind at all and says, "Let me see what I can turn up." I'm here for the ride....
  18. the young woman 2nd from far right in the above photo works with my wife. I see her often enough and she often speaks of what a wonderful uncle SD was and has numerous photos she'd like to share so I'll give her your info so you can say yah or nay if they can appear on this board. Apparently near SD's death SD mailed a bunch of OA to his brother (don't know what it the OA was) but she often asks me "what to we do with it?" I honestly tell her I have no idea as I'm not educated about such valuable things, usually telling her about Heritage and what not, but again, I can steer her towards you since you seem to have gone ahead and made yourself the final arbiter of what appears on this board with regards to SD.
  19. Thanks for taking the time to attend/photo/post/comment on these cons! Always a highlight of the boards.
  20. What was the very first book CGC encapsulated?
  21. Reading this thread while listening to Patti Smith Groups’ “Dancing Barefoot” works well.
