When I go I usually drop off between 100-200 at a time. I'm just a little worried to see what the shipping is going to be with my usual volume.

Why would they not let others who businesses are in submission and restoration pick up books on site for their clients?  That is weird.

I'm starting to get a little tired of the high cost of Registered Mail as well as the week long shipping times.  So I signed up for a FedEx account this weekend, but I don't know how it works from here.  I know I just put my account number on my CGC form, but once CGC is ready to ship my package, how does it work?  Do I receive a notification and then fill out an online form?  At which point do I get to select insured amounts?  The FedEx site from what little browsing I've done doesn't seem particularly helpful which doesn't exactly inspire me with much hope.  ???

I have a FedEx account.  The problem is it's a crapshoot as to the actual charges you will be billed for.  You never know what's going to show up on your statement and the online calculator isn't the slightest bit accurate.  What I mean by this is on some packages you will be charged AHF, that is an additional handling fee if the package is over a certain size and dimension.  Then there are the add fuel surcharges if you ship or receive something in a particular zip code that they deem too far out.  Then they automatically charge you $10 if you request a pickup. The best advice I can give you would be to persistently call in and tell them you would like to set up monthly statements that way you aren't continually calling in and trying to get credits for them overcharging you.  Believe you me I've been there and done that.  FedEx became such a PITA which is why I now ship exclusively through the USPO. For all the s&*# I give them they are highly efficient.

Sometimes when I order something from China it is well packed.  Other times, not so much.

This was one of those 'other times'.  The contents were crushed as I need the item to be in better shape than it was.

I am trying to work this out with the seller as the actual toy box also has crushing.  I do not want to break the seal and look at the contents in case the toy itself is broken.  I needed a presentable copy of this item and this will not be it.

This seller has no idea how eBay works.....well, he's going to get a crash course in it shortly.

It amazes me that some people still think postal insurance is filed and collected by the buyer when in fact it is the seller who purchases or mandates insurance.  Postal insurance is there to cover the seller’s loss should something happen to the package or it arrives damage while in transit.  The seller refunds the buyer then the seller collects on the insurance payout (however long that may be) not the other way around.

The name suits his packing. I hope you filed a claim with ebay to get your money back.

LOL, it looks like they want to play hardball as I just received this message...

"I wont be refunding yo, you have insurance thru the post office in case of damage, as I said before...….The crease your showing is the same one COMPARE THE PHOTOS......EBAY PAYPAL will do the same!"

Believe it or not, the package was sent poorer than they write!
The cheap envelope most certainly led to the impact damage.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I didn't have much luck with the search feature... if anyone has something bookmarked I'd be happy to go read an old post instead of starting a new one!

    But anyway...

I'm trying to do another one of those 5-10 year cleans and am just wondering what varying levels of success people have had with different outlets and/or anything you may have done to make your lot easier to sell and more attractive to a potential buyer.

I'm currently putting every issue into the mycomicshop.com database, so that will give me an absolute bottom line offer.  Of course, they are want to buy like 25% of what I actually have, and if they don't end up being able to make an off on ALL of it I'm not interested in searching out specific issues and breaking up runs.

As I'm creating this list I'm also keeping a manual Excel sheet thinking that I could easily print that out or email it around.  Excel list has an approximate grade as I'm trying to keep it matched with the MCS list - which does not offer every potential grade on the 10-point scale.

95% of everything is bag/board, everything is alphabetized, and all mini-series/full sets/long runs are also bagged together and labeled (the idea being that, if I setup at a con, it would be easy to sell the sets)

    So...

Has anyone had a particularly good (or bad) experience with selling in bulk to any of the online retailers?

Is it worth going to a local show with my list in hand and attempt to solicit offers?

I've seen "Buy Me Out" signs at cons before, but I'm not sure I've ever actually seen anyone get bought out... would anyone recommend that?

I'd prefer, of course, to sell locally due to the volume of books being moved, and I know I can go down to the LCS (which I like), but I'd like to have a couple of offers at least before just letting it go to the easiest route.

Is it even worth trying to post on Craig's list?

I'm hoping to finish cataloging and double-checking everything by the end of summer, so just soliciting ideas as to what the best next step would be...

    Thanks!!

(Oh, and I'm only moving raw comics this time...)

Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist or Shelton Drum at Hero's Aren't Hard to Find.  Then again 7,000 plus back issues, if it's cr@p Shelton's not going to want it either.

I had to go this route

problem is not all cons offer the cases (Baltimore and Tampa do not )

Very nice.  So did you buy that display cabinet to take with you or do you rent it locally?  That's a very nice booth setup btw.

  8. If Ted’s books were also jacked on Sunday then we’re likely dealing with the same culprit who stole Leroy’s AF #15.  Wondering if the police can get a list of attendees from Sunday, feed them into their criminal database and search for those with probation, warrants or priors pertaining to theft. I see this as a good thing though others may object that it would violate their privacy.

  9. " Generally, when no relatives can be found, the entire estate goes to the state. "

LOL.  Even if I had no relatives or anyone or an organization I wanted to pass my estate onto before passing, I would at least have a specific set of instructions to have everything in my name and under my ownership burned and or destroyed before allowing the state to take ownership.  That includes leveling my home and burning all my possession if so necessary.  No way in firey, burning Hell I'd give the State department anything.
