  1. Interesting topic. Put my 2 cents in- age 49. Read comics as a kid and loved them. Bought a 2000 book collection for $400 I think in 1999. Some decent 70s issues but for the most part, not that fantastic a collection- just bagged and boarded them. A few years later started collecting some keys but couldn’t afford to pay more than $75-100 an issue so was priced out of any major keys. Then I dropped out of the hobby for a while. But then in 2015 I decided since I had some extra money I could now spend on the hobby I should explore it again. Jumped on the boards, started reading about the different genres. Fell in love with PCH covers and started buying them. Then I began buying some of the superhero issues I didn’t buy in the past. Recently have gotten the magazine bug. Never was a mag guy but the cool art that I loved on comics was that much cooler on mags. My 13 year old and 24 year old son love the collection. They will be collectors, too. My 24 year old son has a few friends that collect as well (though my son is a San Diego music guy he says comics are considered cool). I think the hobby will be around for a while. And…Many of my friends are going to inherit big sums of money from their parents 401k. They have asked me about comic collecting as an asset along with their stocks, crypto and real estate. Me… I have to make my own inheritance (what my parents lacked in wealth they made up with affection). Hope to sell part of my collection as another income stream along with the usual 401k, pension, SS,etc. It will also give me something to do in my retirement. In the meantime, enjoying this hobby. So comic collecting has many parts to it- nostalgia, comic art appreciation, income potential, etc. I have a feeling comic collecting isn’t fading away soon.
  2. I bought this while in Florida. Can’t wait to crack it open!
  3. I added these to the This Week thread, but posted them here. I guess I really didn’t realize how much I would like the Vamp 20 cover. The HA auction was a bit unusual- lost out on 2 Vamps early then won these easily later in the night.
  4. Thanks! Love these covers- 20 may be my favorite
  5. A few wins from HA tonight- the Vamp 17 and 20 went for far less then I expected.
  6. Yes they were open. I believe it was Margate. Nice folks. No high grade mags 😞
  7. I posted this in the what’s new this week but will add them here too
  8. A few Vampis I picked up recently - a couple of the older ones are WP
  9. Should add Eerie 41 Any slabbed Skywalds too
  10. I agree- I would be angry 😡
  11. Any cool shops in West Palm/Fort Lauderdale/Miami area that worth visiting for magazine back issues?
  12. Just had this happen to me on another comic site. I gave the BIN price on 5 different mag issues. All were pulled by the owners (I contacted the website owner about this to no avail).
  13. Still looking for a bunch: Creepy 3,5,7,16,17 Eerie 8,23 Vamp: many issues between 2-50 Blazing Combat 2,3,4 CGC slabbed 9.4+
  14. Still waiting for a slabbed copy to go for sale…. Patience, I know 😞
  15. This might be tomorrow’s dinner- just need to figure out where I want to pick one up -so many choices in Rochester! 😂
  16. This week’s purchase thanks to a boardie who alerted me on it… now just have to wait to receive it.
  17. Yes- it’s what draws me to the cover- such an odd juxtaposition of art
  18. Yikes! Such a worrisome discussion regarding any bidding on these auction site. Again, anyone ever heard of any former employees bringing out these allegations?
  19. I actually bid earlier on that mag. Had a max price that was much lower than $595. Next increment was $645 and thought about it but backed out. Just felt I was reaching on that but 🤷🏻 Not sure if it’s a general trend up or a few of us new buyers trying to get some Frazetta covers.
