  1. I saw it in an afternoon Imax showing (seating about half full) in South Florida and thought it really delivered. Nits to pick (and they are nitty) would be: 1) Thor's rapid jump into humor when rescued (sure he was interacting with The Guardians but he just lost all Asgardians under his watch). 2) That iron spider suit - though useful to bring Peter up to space-battle readiness, it seemed like something introduced to sell more toys. I'll take the old-fashioned Spidey suit. Maybe a couple of others that escape me now. Way too many pros to mention but some are: 1) Red Skull! 2) Those team-ups and fights. 3) A really formidable, well-written and well-acted villain. No twirling moustache or grandstanding here - this has been building for several movies so let's get right to it. 4) Peter's fear and reaching out to Tony when he was dissolving was really heartfelt and touching. 5) I also thought that Dr. Strange coughing up the stone was probably part of the "one in fourteen million" scenarios that proved to be successful in the end. Overall it was quite the spectacle and, with all its time/location jumps, plethora of heroes and a really substantial villain, "read" just like a comic book. It even had the cliffhanger ending that we all remember so well, needing only a "To Be Continued... Don't Miss the Next Issue or You'll Hate Yourself" blurb.
  2. Bought 2 FF books at a good price and received them promptly. Great communication and even better packing. Thanks Mike!
  3. On ICE they're trying to get $18,995.00 for the same. Me, I'm out of both of those discussions.
  4. The edge that opened slightly wasn't enough to allow an envelope but a sheet of paper folded in two (about the width of half the envelope) worked. It helped that the ring was right in the center of the book, which allowed the case its widest opening. I was able to lessen the size considerably and even "move" it to a less obvious spot. Thanks for the tip! (I can see this is going to open up more time spent correcting other cases with similar problems)
  5. Bought 2 Spideys (raw and a slab) at a good price and items arrived in great packing almost before I was done paying for them. Thanks Rick!
  6. Thanks to all for the nice comments! Full disclosure: It's a previous generation holder (you can see the paper label slightly lifting at the top) and has a Newton right at the "ac" of "Galactus" so I toyed with the idea of resubmitting, but I might get one of those overzealous grading types and... nah.
  7. If the centering wasn't enough (tired of owning this book from the "arvel omics roup"), the white pages really had me scrambling for my wallet before I could come to my senses.
  8. @ 10% off if still available: Spider Man #18 5.0 (125.00) and #10 6.0 (295.00)
  9. Just an exercise to nod your head in agreement or throw up your hands in disgust. Additional Information: No restoration, staple tight with no rust, pages are OW/W, slight dust shadow on the upper back, line in the center of back cover spine is just that - a line (possible pen), not a tear. I'll post the actual grade tomorrow at about this time.
  10. Pfah. I look at my copy of FF #48 9.0 W and many others now with loathing and disgust as they are but dust specks on the CGC case of these books. Ptui. (Well... maybe not)
  11. Fast transaction on a good deal, with safe and secure shipping. Would deal with again! Thanks! Paul
  12. Sorry! I actually got them immediately. What I should have said: When I received them three months later after CGC grading...
  13. Since it's such a high-ticket item it might be best to ask the question of the seller directly before purchasing and see his response. If positive, you'll still probably be out the actual slabbing costs as well as any shipping. Also: eBay gives you a 30 day window for such disputes, so it could be tough to receive the book, send it for slabbing, wait for the grading, then receive it again in that time frame. If using PayPal on the other hand, I believe the window is 180 days to resolve issues that involve items not "as described." I bought two raw Famous Funnies books on eBay from a fairly reputable seller (over 400 positives), but not a dealer. When I received them three months later, one had a slight color touch on the cover and the other had the bottom trimmed. I contacted the seller, showed him the results and reasoned that he probably was not aware of these defects and would not knowingly (judging by his positive feedback) have sold them. He agreed, was apologetic, and returned about 1/4 - 1/3 of the purchase price as satisfaction though under no obligation. I re-sold them since they were not in the condition I was looking to keep in my permanent collection and wound up losing more shipping plus about 1/3 of what was left from the original cost.
  14. Congrats to Patriot6 and all the nice guys that let him know about it.
  15. Bought a couple of SA Marvels at a great price. Smooth transaction, fast communication and very fast shipping as well. Would deal with again!
  16. 3.5 (R). I recently got back a GA Bats with about the same size chunk missing from BC and they didn't get too hysterical about it.
