  1. Don't know if it ever will. I've had an account for years, but only periodically post anything. I didn't realize there was a number of posts required to ask questions.
  2. How would you go about looking for them, especially locally? Serious question.
  3. I've seen posts on Reddit from collectors who purchased this because they realized it would be the only way they could ever own the book. So some collectors have conceded altogether.
  4. I rarely receive packages via Fedex, but the percentage of missing packages is way higher from them than the USPS. Last month, I ordered a cam and lifters for my old Camaro that should have taken a couple of days to reach me. I called the supplier after a week, tracked it, and it showed being delivered 2 days after I ordered it. When I called Fedex, they said I signed for it, and that the seller would have to file the claim. It still hasn't been settled, and I doubt it ever will. All I know is that I live alone and I didn't sign for it. 95% of the time, I'm also at home, so I don't know what happened. I feel certain the driver forged my signature and probably threw my stuff in a dumpster. Anyway, it's frustrating as hell, and I needed to get it off my chest. I don't think any of the delivery services are very good at the customer level, though. All the USPS and UPS packages are all going from the seller to a distribution center to be combined, then sent to the local delivery branch, and then handled again before finally put on the truck and delivered. All those hard-working government employees are known for their work ethic and attention to detail, right?
  5. I've dealt with Mike at herorestoration.net for the only 2 books I've had restored. I understand wanting to have nicer comics that cost less than a new car, and sometimes restoration is the only way to attain a copy. Both of my books were pretty ragged and he did wonders with them. FF4 is only going up and is one of those that will be out of range for most people before too long, so I say go for it. You'll never be happy with it how it is.
  6. I try to make a reasonable first offer, but I don't base it on a percentage. Depending how badly I want the book, I try to offer an amount somewhere close to the asking price, but a little less than I think the seller will take. Not insulting, but not quite realistic either, although there have been times my offer was accepted. Usually in that case it's because I have multiple offers with the seller or other books in my cart. I would hope that every seller would treat each transaction independently or just not use the Make Offer option. Not all of us are trying to scam you. Half the posts I read by sellers give the impression that potential customers are pests instead of the lifeblood of your businesses. That's my observation, at least.
  7. I learned about this sale from another site and used it to buy several books I needed. It's the first time I've used a discount code, because I always figured it was for specific vendors, and would never apply to back issue comics. But since it did, in fact, deduct 15% from my total, I'm wondering how often does ebay do site-wide sales like this? I was surprised and really thrilled that it worked. I'm ready to shop!
  8. Hi everyone. I'm not new here, but I rarely post. I'll talk about my collection anytime to people who give a damn, though. I've currently got about 36,000 comics. I prefer raw copies in a nice mylar bag, but I've accumulated some slabs because of deals, and had my 3 Golden Age Superman, ASM 1, and Avengers 1 slabbed due to their value. It still bothers me that they aren't in line where they are supposed to be, but they do look good on display. I started collecting in 2010 after a 25 year break and have been aggressively buying all kinds of Marvel and DC stuff, with a few other publishers here and there. I'm retired, so comics are my full time hobby. It's gotten difficult for me to make big dents in my want list, though, because I basically have only the more expensive issues left to buy in the runs I'm working on. Oh, and I'm so far behind in reading them that I could probably never buy a comic again and not read what I have now. I'll get around to trying one day.
  9. As a pretty regular buyer on ebay, I wanted to mention a situation that has put me in a bind more than once, and what the proper etiquette should be. In my paypal preferences, my default payment method is "Pay After Delivery", in which paypal pays the seller but waits 10 days to take the money. But maybe 5% of the time, the option isn't available. The problem is that you don't find out until it's time to pay for your purchase. In my case, I'll normally go ahead and pay the bill and adjust my budget accordingly, but there have been a couple of times I didn't have the money on hand, and had to ask the seller to wait a few days. As I said, there is no way to know ahead of time that this is going to happen. It almost seems at random. I have a 100 rating and want to keep it that way, so would any of you block me if this came up?
  10. I prefer raw books, but if a slabbed copy of a Silver or Bronze Age I need is available for a good deal, I'll buy it. I used to break them out of the slabs, because it just bothered me for the book to be out of place, but I've learned to just deal with it now. I only own a few Golden Age Superman's, and I slabbed them because of the size difference to everything else. I got my ASM 1 signed by Stan Lee, so I wanted to protect and authenticate it, and my Avengers 1 is currently at CGC. I almost had an accident with it and decided I need to protect it. I'll slab any other books like those two if I ever acquire them, but the rest will stay raw, lined up in perfect order.
