  1. Amen. Some of those price increases were seemingly gradually, that it only made sense there might be more in coming years. Etc but anyway... A kayak? That sounds like fun, as long as your a perfected swimmer! I have relatives that do the whole mountain thing, past relatives who have won rowing trophies, so there is fun in it! To be sure! Might give some exercise too @Namtak that was supposed to say relatives not realities hahhhahahaha
  2. Wow I'm sorry to hear, that was one of your first posts or avatar the parrot I think. It's ok to mourn as we all have suffered loss. Glad you stepped away and realized when it was too steep. I was same boat. Luckily had the blessing of sending in accumulated raws from six years before prices went up last year and etc. I was getting old prices for subs and let go of spending on new stuff, to an extent. Probably saved my shirt more ways than one.
  3. I almost feel guilty for getting a modern submission back soon, but prayers cause I know for some it's business as well. 🙏
  4. Just think, in one week's time you'll be walking the floor with comics, Comics, COMICS!
  5. There is absolutely nothing I disagree with here! Yours (and I hope mine) is the mindset of a collector. I think there are a lot of people still spending big bucks on comics that don't care much, if at all about the history. These people are not like us. All they care about is the investment potential of these books. To them, rarer books are better investments, end stop. Here is the description of the 9.8 Eternals #1 30 Cent Price Variant: Created by the great Jack Kirby, the artistic father of the Marvel Universe, the Eternals are a superhuman race created by the Celestials. The offered example for the much rarer 30 Cent Price Variant is pristine and has been graded Near Mint/Mint 9.8, making it the highest graded and 1 of only 4 examples of this Variant ever assigned the top grade by CGC. Adding to its desirability, the pristine condition is further enhanced by newsstand-fresh White Pages. Consider that there are 642 CGC 9.8s (Universal and Signature Series) for the regular (25-Cent) edition, and it drives how how incredibly rare these 30-Cent Price Variants of Eternals #1 really are. This description mentions nothing about the interesting history of price variants. The hook is that they are rare, RARE, RARE! If you like 9.8s, these 9.8s are double-plus-good! Now it IS possible that more people have developed a genuine appreciation for this specific price variant and that is reason why they bid almost $15K for a book that last sold for $7500 in 2020, but I'm a bit too cynical for that. One spoke of 35 cent variants, that I haven't seen play out as much on 30 cent variants. I remember what seemed early on the boards people finding or positioning with 35 centers, ie star wars and iron fist, I correlated with that because all I could find at the time were 30 centers. I eventually found one of the star wars, may be the only 35 center I have. I tried to be a bottom feeder and get X-men 30 cent variants, but my point is, I WISH 30 cent variants would similarly catch on. Doesn't seem likely in the short run but idk, if not when 35 centers pop, then when?!
  6. Me and my dad were talking about these today. His favorite comic in the Golden age was shazam, not marvel family. Lcs had got some in and I told him. I also couldn't wait until father's day and gave him a Shazam 1 from 1973 over coffee, that he then paused to open, flip through and ooh and ahh even at the ads! Story short he called today to say he wouldn't make it by the lcs for golden age, but told me of these classics illustrated that was also read by him. I told him a half price books had a cubby designed for these and Dell and other ephemera, which was again replied with "Ah cool!" Just in passing since that all happened within 24 hours I thought I'd mention. Thanks for posting!
  7. Argh 😤 anyway I'll Lord willing still buy from you that weekend.
  8. That was a long time coming, but looks extra cool! I wonder if they all waited until after the sketch to "sign" in order to leave room for the sketch? Just glad it worked out!
  9. I also love the toy Mirage look, that why I surprised myself so much by liking the toon deco on this toy better. I wasn't even going to get it, I just had some money to burn and it was the right price. And I LOVE the toy headsculpt, you're absolutely right, it's awesome, I wish all media used it. It's so unique. Also too, that's whom you said to keep an eye out for in the movie! I saw the sphinx, which helped me pinpoint, Optimus and beast are pretty discernable, but to my noobness, I hope I get it right and can follow along to tell the difference apart!
  10. I've never watched much transformers, tbh, this will in fact be the 1st that I've seen in theaters as well
