  1. should be super fun to hear how it went for you guys or should I say y'all
  2. Speaking of which, yesterday was evidently "Independent Bookstore Day?" My used bookstore nearby said as much, and they hosted a "Golden Ticket" hunt within their store. 6 total envelopes to find, only one per person, afaik. With the "golden" one being a prize of like 45 audio books. It sounded intriguing, and I'm saving for Comic-Con, so it gave me something to do I searched the whole store so I had thought at least for an hour, and one guy found one, which was $5 credit. No one seemed to be looking other than me and maybe kids with parents shopping. Not a lot of distraction, but I didn't want to make people move from shopping, so I had to retrace. Found one persons phone that they had just left on a shelf, went and turned that in to lost and found. Anyway,........ I did after that find an envelope of $10 credit yadda yadda
  3. I did see a National Enquirer yesterday at the used bookstore, I assume an old one, it just made me wonder how they "acquired" it!
  4. There are some on ebay, I think the white I was remembering is around the edges of the characters. I happened to be riding a bike with a friend by a video store, but a hole in the wall establishment and this was outside. I asked to either have it or paid $2 in 1994 or 95. They agreed, and my friend said take it but thought a minute because we were on bikes and we tried successfully. I remember setting it up, but when we moved later in the next year or so, I might have not wanted to bring it to truly start anew.
  5. Lol had to look that up, as my parents probably threw it away 😔 I remembered it as a white backdrop but perhaps I'm remembering the back idk. Was just curious if you have no room for the set up, if it took years to create interest. Sort of venting to think it through, but I suppose Marvel is established enough. Just didn't know if there was a year that started vintage, collectable, or etc No worries.
  6. Since you hint at the point of what I need to ask? 🤔 At what point would advertising become sought after, is it as high as 25 years or similar circumstances to even pinpoint? Would do wonders sometimes, as I know there are pivotal ones and etc . I think it was this thread or another with the coca cola Marvel.... Closest I had was a pulp fiction standee, a big one that I got as a kid from a video store. Not sure if blockbuster but I don't think so, anyway it was people size and had all the main characters. I haven't thought about that in ages 😂
  7. Condolences. Hope the effort isn't too bad to do something about them, we've often wondered or left instruction for easy consignment. Not an easy thing to deal with, and all at one time either, especially given certain circumstances. Kudos for doing something, and again condolences.
  8. Your kidding? Was there More than one print of the spiral? Or maybe what I had found spiraled was it, but I thought it was different than the pics above and deemed it not what was collected? Or maybe maybe the regular print picked up first? I forget the reason I didn't pick it up. Lord forgive me
  9. Evidently neither are? I wonder what I was looking at then Maybe misremembering but could have sworn there was a spiral border idk 😶 😐
  10. I had found a reprint in the wild, and was disappointed. If it's a good story I suppose I should have snapped it up, but then again, it was spiraled and not easy per say to store and if I remember correctly 😜 😄
  11. I vaguely remember running into this series at Half Price Books nearly 7 years ago, I say vaguely but it is really pretty distinctly and only been longer that it feels Glad someone took the courage to have a keepsake
  12. Lol the other day looking for my long put away nes TMNT video game, which I didn't find, I saw my old view finder case. Blue and dusty with no viewers inside. Idk Made me chuckle 😂 That is cool though. Sealed and still "viewable!"
  13. So the label is sealed in the mylar with the comic, as the angle alludes too or points out. I asked that earlier, to which no one replied 😂 I guess that wall of text lesson is being learned hahaha
  14. I was fine until eyeing that Superman book, I thought perhaps NM as well for it, or I just didn't do due diligence, like at all 12 pts
  15. awesome!! since you liked the post, a tag and continued! @Waylander
  16. I agree that was my over statement, so no worries. I meant the holder looked legit, which was a broad answer, but I mentioned reholder and didn't go into detail of what areas meant "damage" not malicious specifically that needed a reholder. I mentioned in another post on this page however. Ink, font, corner design, and case and DESIGN were all legit no malicious behavior HOWEVER The Popped corner, the warped label, the scratches, and the top label on outside of the case peeling, were all "damages to a legit case" THAT CALLED OR WOULD BE REASON FOR A REHOLDER. I didn't go into specifics until later which I apologize for.
  17. If it weren't for this thread, you wouldn't have thought that clean of a break as serious nor malicious, similar to anything else that has flaws but is meant to show wear if tampered with, tamper evident not tamper proof. Although idk if CGC is shooting for tamper proof nowadays
  18. I figured it might have been true in that type of miscommunication, benefit of the doubt. The reason I gave broad answers was due to the thread title. The new generation may be more "sealed" as you would have put it, but doesn't mean if you drop it and a corner becomes separated, that the same thing couldn't happen. Technically With more of it sealed, more would fracture, and it might not look as clean. Regardless both would be simple reho, ders as stated for reasons in my last couple of posts. That said and with this thread title, I see or sympathize with why you drew the conclusion. If I seem impatient it is because the Good News was it wasn't anything to do with the thread title, just misconception rather than miscommunication. If that means no more slabs for you, it'll take time, but hopefully we gave enough short but broad details if you come upon more to examine. Cheers!
  19. Here is his microscope camera of, what looks to me as a round peg in a hole secure, am I daft? Looks intact?
  20. Idk why I'm going into this. 1st generation such as these most likely rumored to not be pressed, some buy to crack them out TO press, some just take that rumor and pay a premium for the older label. @paqart all these things have niches and you're able to understand, just it might not mean much to you at this point. Broad statements don't always help detailed conclusions, so my bad. Lord willing you can learn the reholder submission and it may be used to your advantage (as others have) But If you do like the current cases better? It should be obvious to you which those are! So collect how you like. But we will as well, unfortunately as yours might become a prevailing opinion due to being unlearned of the "past?" God forbid 16 years of labels get so scarce that we're all forced to reholder Just thinking out loud here, I had made broad statements but I'm not sure this thread is the one to tie up. Taking a break 💔
  21. If you haven't run into damaged slabs, I'm sure you will in the future. Sorry I wasn't clear at first about everything that was a cause for a reholder. The bolded print and color is only in the newest gen slabs. They only put the top glue label within the case on the newest generation. The wavy label might be because of the pop corner letting in a lot of air or moisture like you said. I "now" don't blame your return, if it truly showed up like that and not from you testing boundaries like it almost sounded like you did. So pardon our French. Pardon our mess that yours might end up as a new popular opinion with now eight years of people being spoiled with new cases. When you come and white flag wave that 16 years of slabs and money flying all needs to be reholdered to the newest case or " because you say so or you're leaving the hobby?" You hear how that is exasperating, correct
