  1. Jeep Comics #2 in VG/VG- centerfold detached. This entire three-issue run is tough in any grade, usually no more than a copy or two of any issue on eBay at any one time. Here’s a peek at the insides as these Laffingwell Publications books don’t come up much. $125
  2. Magnus Robot Fighter #1 in GD minus. Cover split from bottom past 1st staple. $75
  3. Daredevil #16 in Good (aka 2.0.) Exhibits better on general wear but cover neatly detached, hence the GD. 1st Romita art on Spider-Man. $40
  4. The Books: Just four books this time, all recently upgraded so I am offering up these undercopies here. But first… 5 Simple Rules (Please, please read) 1st wins; tie/indeterminate goes to the thread. Payment is Check or Money Order (yeah, yeah I know I'm a dinosaur, troglodyte, luddite, mennonite, hermaphrodite etc. - I just don't have or want e-payments.) Shipping: Via USPS Priority is $10. (Canada ships at actual cost.) Don't be listy including the little one in my head. Returns: Sure, just notify me within three days of receipt and get it back to me in the same shape on your dime, except no returns on graded books. (Kudos thread linked under my avatar.)
  5. Buddy of mine just nabbed a Golden age collection and carved me a slice….
  6. Because I can’t use emojis on your posts, I need to quote you and say “You rock!” Thank you Mike!
  7. I just appreciate the effort! I think it’s a horrible oversight, unless I’m missing some key fact(s). @Robot Man @grendelbo FYI about Mike’s awesome inquiry on this topic. (I’m sure I missed some others from the Jerry Garcia collection thread.)
  8. @CGC Mike I’ve always wondered about this. Do you know the backstory as to why they would not? Seems odd given they did it for Nic Cage books.
  9. Like a test run by the scammer? A sniff test of how convincing his work is or isn’t?
  10. And he was married to Miss America (the Timely heroine who was also in the All Winners Squad) Bob and Madeline Frank.
  11. Certainly you can; it’s earlier than Avengers 4. This could be a whole ‘nother thread that could be argued either way but I just feel Cap’s revival was far more important/central to the young Marvel universe because Cap became the backbone of the title that showcased many of their solo heroes. Subby’s growth across the titles was more gradual, though he was an important supporting cast member for the early FF as the first Marvel anti-hero, the grandpappy in a sense of Wolverine, Punisher etc. Avengers #3, DD #7, X-Men #6 … he’s harassing everybody! But at the simplest level, both books certainly brought back a Timely hero into Marvel continuity with an explanation for where they’d been. Functionally, it’s an equal contributor of the concept of pulling the Golden Age characters forward into the newly created mythos.
  12. I’ve always felt that big as they are, both Flash 123 and Avengers 4 are still underrated keys as they both pull the Golden Age into the Silver Age. Both are central to their respective publishers’ development of the concept of continuity, the core of the serialized, illustrated fiction upon which this particular collecting hobby is originally built. To me, that’s the real significance of the returns of Cap and Jay Garrick.
  13. Spidey shows up in Strange Tales #119 as well. Not top 10, but another early one outside his own title.
  14. Partly financial, partly evolution of their use of the medium (well, not exactly evolution as one way is not necessarily better than another, just different forms of storytelling) I can’t recall where I read it or the specifics, but I think there was a limited # of titles they could swing print runs for in the early days. That’s part of the reason the 1968 expansion was such a big deal. Trying to remember where I read Stan on this topic. The “always full-length titles” of Avengers, X-Men, Sgt Fury and DD are all mid-1963 and onward (DD is ‘64) launches.

  16. My pleasure, Clark! I’ve seen us both in enough of the Watterson threads to know you’d be interested too. I for one had no idea he had this bent. It’ll be pretty fascinating. I’m especially curious given the time he and his collaborator have apparently spent on this project. Did I miss anybody else I should have tagged?
  17. @GreatCaesarsGhost @Buzzetta Thought you guys might be interested in Watterson’s new project. See OP’s link above,
