  1. Who else thinks they can hit the edge of the strike zone???
  2. via PM! All dem dere Thors! Thanks again Ed; way to nip the corner of the paint!
  3. via PM! ASM #121 goes to dhgladiator! He knows how to nip those corners! Anybody else out there got an arm???? Thanks Dave!
  4. It went to a good home! Am I the only one wondering why Blazing #6 is still here??? I hunted for a while for a decent copy of that one, and its a very cool strange cover.
  5. Okay, all pm's are sent, so if you took books and did not get a PM, I blew it!! Lemme know. Otherwise, whether you took books or not yet, let's see what you lowballers got! Who can throw a low fastball and still nip the bottom of my strike zone??? Ya got a few hours, that's it! (Tip - I may not have as much room on a big key such ASM 121, so "reasonable" can vary depending on what we're talking about, but I'm open to reasonable offers and will counter rather just say no IF we are close. Fair?)
  6. Holy cow, what a week! I'll start PM's to takers now; sorry for delay. Take a last peek (recap above should be accurate) and I'll close after all PM's are out. PM's welcome too!
  7. I interviewed Joe Sinnott a couple times, and he said this was the comic he was most proud of drawing. He also said he loved drawing famous baseball players, as he was a huge baseball fan, and he loved to draw Bing Crosby. Joe was a huge Bing fan and even hosted a Bing Crosby show on a local radio station for a while.
  8. Well, I don't know if this is cheating or not, but we said Top 3 acquisitions, and some items were acquired together, so.... The 2 Timelys changed hands as many Timelys do; via private, direct offering from another long-timer; the Peanuts 1 came via trade that was hammered out over 2 hours with another collector in the region. We were put together by a mutual friend who knew the book was not in that guy's collecting wheelhouse, and that he wanted to move it for silver age Marvels. And the two original art pieces came directly from Dan Green, whom I met at local cons back when I was in high school. I became reacquainted with him through an LCS fairly recently. The Kull page is from the early Copper #1, John Buscema inked by Green. The watercolor Doctor Strange is all Dan Green, pages 24-25 from the Marvel Graphic Novel "Into Shamballa," which is all Dan Green watercolors.
  9. Sale Pricing Recap: Take $5 books for $4 Take $10 books for $8 Take any book $20 or more and take 10% off. Most prices have been cut anyway; above discounts apply to lowest listed price. PM’s welcome too.
  10. all dis good stuff! Thanks and welcome to the thread, Adam! And you’re actually ahead of what you initially thought even though the 10% doesn’t apply to the cheaper books; the $5 books are each $1 off. So that works out better than 10% off.
  11. all dat on sale good stuff above! Thanks again Andrew!
  12. Well, yesterday morning blew up and I did nothing to close. So there’s extra time today. Meanwhile….
  13. Last call, closing in a.m.; full recap above this post. Thank you all lookers, lurkers, krappers and takers! One last special for the Ham-Fisted Tightwads among us! (Or those that simply love a sale, too) — Take 10% off any unsold books priced $20 or above! (Yes, any)
  14. Recap! Remember, if it is marked $5 take it for $4; marked $10 take it for $8. PM's welcome too, though I have made price cuts on many items already since initial posting. Here's what's left: Please see actual postings for specific pix/descriptions of flaws, etc. For example, many of the Silver Age DCs present nicely but have seemingly needless tape (all same collection). p1: Peanuts #12 VG/VG- $10 Police Against Crime #6 gvg $30 Ghost Rider #35 $5 Mighty Comics #50 (Black Hood) VG+ $4 Thor #169 qualified FN (coupon out) $30 Action #323 FN $10 X-Men #143 VF $20 Action 321 VF- $20 Action 521 VGFN $15 (1st Vixen) p2: Sad Sack 123 VG $3 Conan #7 VG $9 Ponytail #4 FN $3 Swamp thing 6 VGFN $5 p3: Katy Keene Pin-up Parade 7 poor $5 FF 64 VG- $30 (1st Kree) Millie the Model 90 & 95 inc. $10 Life with Archie 25 VG $6 FF 70 FN $30 Life with Archie 34 FN $12 Sweethearts v2 #67 gvg $3 Mystery in Space 106 FN $10 Life with Archie 40 FN $7 Spy thrillers 2 gvg $15 Aces High #1 VG $40 p4: 8-book romance lot $4 each, 3 for $10 or $25 for all Conan 21 VG $3 Black Panther 10 FVF $10 Black Panther 5 VF- $10 Plop! 4 VGFN $4 Super Mouse 35 GD $3 p5: Superman 188 VG+ $6 Sad Sack 200 VG- $3 Worlds Finest 124 VG $10 Peanuts 2 Fair $5 Superman 190 FN- $10 Marvel Tales 98 VG $5 Superboy 120 FN $10 GS Conan 1 VG $5 Superman 191 VGFN $10 Worlds Finest 163 FN+ $10 Thor ann 7 VF- $10 early Eternals Worlds Finest 157 VG $10 p6: Action 329 FN $10 JLA 57 GD $5 UN cover Swamp Thing 21 VGFN $4 Swamp Thing 13 VG $5 Worlds Finest 145 FN $10 Some $2 duck books Classics 3 HRN 113 FN- $5 Conan 15 VG $5 p7: Conan 17 gvg $3 Ribtickler 3 VG- $5 p8: FF 188 VGFN$3; 192 FVF $4, 193 VG+ $3, 194 VF $4, 195 VF $5 p9: FF 204 VF $7 (1st Nova Corps), 250 FVF 4 $4 FF Roast 1 NM $5 Archies Pals n Gals 11 VG- $9 Pep 135 GD- $3 Classics 5 hrn 87 VG+ $4 Mutt and Jeff 127 gvg $3 p10: Classics 6 hrn 89 VG $5 More Classics $4 each Jughead 139 & 151 $5 p11: FREE Wilbur 83 inc (claim with any purchase) Comic Album lot of 3 for $10 Arrgh 3 FN $3 Action 320 FN $10 Superman 186 VGFN $10 Worlds Finest 188 VG $10 Jimmy Olsen 88 VGFN $3 Four Color 265 King of Royal Mounted FN+ $30 House of Mystery 231 VGFN $10 Wrightson Micronauts 7 VF+ $5 p12: Micronauts 8 VF $25 1st Capt Universe MTU 18 FVF $12 Thor annual 8 FVF $10 vs Zeus Young Love 104 FN- $50 (taboo nun cover) Savage She-Hulk 2 FN/FN+ $12 2nd appearance Not Brand Ecch 5 VG $6 FF 56 GD $6 p13: 2 Phantom boooks $5 Archie 219 FN- $5 Doomsday +1 2 VG+ $3 Beagle Boys 31 VF $3 Daffy Duck 117/118 VF $6/pair Beetle Bailey 70 FN $3 Fat Albert 27 FN $3 Baby huey 95 VGFN $2 Casper 26 VG $3 Archie as Puerheart the Powerful #1 VG $10 Kilroys #26 VG $20 Moronica story Candy #4 GD- $20 classic GGA cover ASM #111 FN- $30 p14: Machine Man 1 VFNM $20 Black Goliath 1 FN- $10 Shazam 1 FN $40 Rom 1 VF- $20
  15. Recap is done on paper, just have to type and post! Buuut…. I have cut prices as I went through; you can comb the thread now, or wait for the recap. And any books/lots marked at $5 can be taken at $4, and those marked at $10 can be taken at $8. Recap coming ….
  16. I’m trying to muster the energy to type a recap, but in the meantime…. Nickel and Dime Sale! Take $1 off any remaining $5 books and $2 off any remaining $10 books. Or shoot me a PM if the books don’t fit that theme. Or just grab some of the overlooked gems that are still sitting there before s someone else does. Or grab a sandwich and a beer. Don’t just sit there!
  17. Echu goes Rogue and takes Avengers annual #10! Thanks again Ed!
  18. Double Micronauts 1 and My Own Romance 6! Thanks again AJ!
  19. Ok, that’s everything for this thread. I will try to get a recap up. I will close by the end of the weekend. Thanks all lookers and takers! Hope it’s been fun!
  20. SOLD via PM! Amazing Spider-Man #121 FN/FN+ death of Gwen Stacy. A press will remove some but not all the flaws that place it in current grade range. $450
  21. SOLD! Avengers Annual #10 VF (holding down for foxing on back and on issue #) 1st Rogue. And, if you’ve never read it, a fun read (especially if you are an Iron Man fan) and a Michael Golden visual treat buried beneath a pedestrian cover. $75
  22. SOLD! Nova #1 VF/VF- note light dot of stain on top back; biggest flaw and reason for my grade range not being a little higher. John Buscema & Joe Sinnott — you cannot get anymore Marvel House Style than that! $100
