  1. Cool books Jeff! Interesting note -- the cover to Roly Poly Comics #11 is practically a mirror image/swipe of Pep #54. Fun to check out; see if you all think I'm crazy or not.
  2. Dang! I saw the headline in the popular posts column on the right hand side and thought it was a sales thread 2.5 from the pix too, but 3.0 turning up wouldn’t shock me, either.
  3. Love it! I do remember the sticks in the MSA story though. That lower left huntress panel is the costume, of course the mag was in b&w. And if Ka-Zar had not appeared in Marvel Comics #1 would he have had so many chances??? Is there a golden age also-ran with more lives??? Maybe that’s it....they could just use magic or gamma rays to merge him with Zabu and make him some kind of saber tooth tiger were-man. Lords knows they’ve tried everything else!
  4. Thank you! I read that MSA, sold it, and completely forgot the name. And yes Waller seems cheap given her importance. She has kind of become their Nick Fury.
  5. Good; it’s not just me. That’s what made me think it might be a scanner artifact. But I bet the color strike is good. I’d love to see a photo; good luck @Wolverinex I hope the deal works out well!
  6. I’d go hmm too but maybe it’s scanned at a different time than the others? Something seller fixed in settings subsequently? I mean, who knows why they wouldn’t rescan, just trying to think of a way to rule it out.
  7. Looks like it’s in a slab. Wasn’t sure if you got the pic with or without label. You’ve seen the label to rule out repro; good. What about asking the seller to send pix too? If it’s a scanner artifact it won’t be there. If it’s some scanner illusion it’s looking like a pretty copy.
  8. Colors look exceptionally dark. Seller scan? Any chance it’s a scanner artifact, or repro cover made from a copy that had a date stamp?
  9. Hmm... Just pulled my copy. Its more like a gradual fade from yellow to off-white with yellow tinge from top to bottom. Maybe a printing error of some sort?
  10. Thank you! She's had quite a journey. I can't recall for certain, and I no longer have MSA #1, but I think her costumed code name in that one might also have been something other than Mockingbird? She's a female Hank Pym, what with all the changes.
  11. Thank you Nepatkm That last scene struck me as out there even for a mag, given it was Marvel. That Bobbi Morse story predates MTU 95, I’m pretty certain, but I can’t recall if she has a different code name than Mockingbird in her costumed identity in MSA 1.
  12. And now I’m trolling eBay looking for beaters of both!
  13. Thank you; that’s the classic version that I had in my brain. I read the Super Action once before selling it when I stumbled on it a few months back, but I remember it involved him shooting a woman (prostitute IIRC?) in bed. Just wasn’t expecting the scene in a 70’s mainstream publisher mag.
  14. If you read this and the 2nd Punisher origin side by side, is it basically the same, or do they modify it from one to the next? I found the one in Marvel Super Action kind of disturbing. If I ever read MP2, it was a billion years ago and I don’t recall, but I don’t think I’ve had a copy.
  15. Got it; sorry I was confused too! I guess the other 2 don’t rise to label mentions, as they are not big fish?
  16. Is that the 2nd on Fortune? I guess my brain lumped it in with Mockingbird and Weirdworld (which for a long time I though first appeared in Marvel Premiere 38 — loved that comic when I found it as a kid, and I wasn’t much for other sword and sorcery books. But it was well done.)
  17. Thank you! I always get my mags mixed up. That Super Action 1 is a 4-for-4 book though, and I inadvertently discovered the sale prices on the Vision reprint searching for the mag — it does reprint the classic cover, but it still seems crazy to me.
  18. Isn’t it Marvel Super Action (magazine) #1 — origin of Punisher, 1st Dominic Fortune, 1st Weirdworld, 1st Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird — a four-bagger mag! Also, speaking of the title, looks like the regular-size comic Marvel Super Action #18 (Avengers 57 reprint) is now a thing too.
