  1. Just posted a 37-book Preacher lot including #1 over in Copper/Modern.
  2. Ok, here we go....I bought a large estate collection from the estate of a collector who was apparently a fastidious read and bag type. So the offer is 37 assorted Preacher books in what I would describe as newsstand mint. That is, to my eye the majority would score 9-something if graded, I would think. There may Outliers that would fall into the 8's, but most books should be safely north of 9. Pix below include the back and front of #1, the condition of which is fairly representative of the majority of the lot. I do not see it being a 9.8 but it is a nice book. I have also included the front of #11 as the color-breaking create in the upper right corner is the most glaring flaw I have found across the 37 books. Otherwise, it's mostly the odd spine ticks here or there. Happy to accommodate any specific requests for additional pix. what's included: Preacher #1-11 and #18-37: Saint of Killers #'s 3 and 4, and four specials: One Man's War, The Story of You-Know-Who, The Good Old Boys, and Cassidy: Blood & Whiskey. $250 shipped.

  4. Cool; thank you! I just love the stories of how these original collections get preserved and unearthed. We do kind of record our hobby's history here. Congrats, what an awesome batch to haul to the surface after all these years!

  6. 1. I've slabbed a fragile Mad 1 to protect it. I may do this with others, either due to fragility, or high grade and/or high value to the point that I do not wish to any longer open it multiple times. 2. If I'm slabbing to sell, it's nearing sell time. I'm not tying up capital in a slab for a book I don't intend to keep until it's near time to move it. 3. None. I cannot stand this trend as I still view autographs as writing on books. I will pass on autographed books.
  7. Jason, What an awesome book, thanks! Please tell us more/show us more from the OO collection!
  8. For a good comparator, sign up for a free Heritage auctions account and search a relatively plentiful major SA key such as X-Men 1 or DD1. You are bound to find enough examples to get a rough idea of the impact of the flaw.
  9. I have had books out for a while, two for quick press. I called in advance and asked about the differences. I was told a quick press is once thru and that's it. Full press may include additional passes and some hand work if necessary. I asked about whether a quick press also includes a dry clean and was told the press is the dry clean. Based on that, with just one NCB of difference-making concern on each book, I went quick press. Most anything else/more and I would have elected full.
  10. You could run this logic in the GA too with Action 1 vs Tec 27, except it doesn't work for one reason: Action 1 is the prime mover, the first comic to ignite the genre, and despite Supes' fading star as long as new collectors learn history it will endure in the hobby. FF1 is to Marvel what Action 1 is to comics overall (someone made the AF15/AC 1 analogy earlier; from the point of historic significance that's incorrect. AF15 correlates to Tec 27 in that both are the first appearances of the currently most popular characters of the GA and SA.) The books that have historic importance on their side in addition to the characters' popularity level are AC1, FF 1 and of course SC4, though it's outside this discussion and GA analogy. To my mind, the future financial value of FF1 relies as much on young/future collectors being knowledgeable of history as it does on characters' popularity. (Same could said of the value of TTA 27, a far tougher Marvel key than any of the ones we're discussing. I mention it as an aside because someone earlier named the three toughest Marvel keys and left it out. I think it's by far the toughest of the early Marvel keys.)
  11. Just home from a long day out; getting back to all asap. Thx!
  12. That's it for now, gang. Hitting the flea market in the a.m. I will check the thread for Take It's/PM's when I get back. Take It in thread trumps. Thanks all for looking!
  13. Last up is a rarity that is underpriced in the current market, in my opinion....Albedo #3, the second appearance of Usagi Yojimbo. I'm calling this copy about a 7.5 due to the spine ticks and slight bend in the upper right corner of the front cover. Otherwise beautiful. $30
  14. Spacehawk lot, four books $12. Dark Horse's Spacehawk 1-3 and Aechival Photography's Space Funnies #1. Enjoy some amazing Basil Wolverton on the cheap.
  15. Okay, two lots to go, and we will close strong with good stuff...hang on...
  16. Jet Dream #1...1968 Gold Key one-shot....Jet Dream and her Stunt-Girl Counterspies $8
