  1. Waaaaay easier said than done....that said, what is your focus and the reasons behind that choice? Go back over your reasons; if the decision is still sound, at least you know it's not that your interest is moving away from your focus. Is your "creep" toward a logical expansion/broadening of your current focus? Other than that, the most common deviation I allow is a strategic acquisition that I know I can sell or trade for more value, poured back into my collecting goals. And of course it's okay to still be a reader. If I see cheap books I've always wanted to read, even if I know I might lose a few dollars turning them loose again, that has to be okay sometimes. Mind you, I'm not buying gold and silver keys to read once and sell fast at a loss, but I'm talking about finally finding that short run that ought to be in a dollar box, and it's six books at $3 each instead, or somesuch. At that level, it's just entertainment consumption like anything else from a book to a movie to a class to a bucket at a driving range etc. Whatever your other hobbies may be. Hope this helps you kick it around, especially since your boardie name was my favorite Thunder Agent!
  2. Hey Greggy...some 35-40-year-old comic books have minor flaws...just thought I'd mention, since it appears you have no way of knowing! Congrats on some nifty scores there!
  3. Who do ya think sent the Punisher after him???
  4. Love the books and the back story behind the eclectic picks! Completely agree on Mad #1 (though mine isn't going to make my top 5, only because I will take a theme approach) as an underappreciated book. When you consider the influence Mad has had outside the hobby as well, it's pretty important. And Space Western is like Moby (the white whale), as in a massively inclusive work of literature, for the period from WWII right up to the Silver Age. All the zaniness of those years in the comic industry (most of it, anyway) is touched on.
  5. It's stunning in person! Thx again Billy! Great books from this guy, if anyone is fence-sitting out there!
  6. As far as I know, only Betty got naked in a motel with Archie
  7. The Capt Marvel/Bulletman team-up in Master 21 is dated dec '41. That's at least in the first wave mix.
  8. Drat! Missed it by that much...to quote Maxwell Smart...congrats!
  9. Thx guys! I love when I can grab a collection, pick a couple nuggets, and get my $$ back (or a little more) on the rest. (Ideally at a price point where I can pass along a deal to others.)
  10. Done! I put it in Comics General, both to allot us options from any era (TONS of 90's sleepers!) and to put the pressure on us to keep at it, lest it fall off. Now, let's get it rolling and get back here to buy up Rick's books
  11. Betty or Veronica? The eternal struggle....let's hash it out here, ad infinitum! Simple to play....any era; post a cover, interior, OA, what have you....that supports your case for Betty or Veronica. "Vote" as often as you like; change your vote every time if you like! Let's post all the evidence here and let it speak for itself. I will kick us off with a non-vote....Howie Post snuck a SA tribute to this very topic onto a DC cover. Here it is....let the battle begin!
