  1. Yes, but many of the Venom #1 Dell'Otto Variants fell short of the 9.2, yet they still sent them out. Its a great scam though, kind of makes me wish I owned one of those 4 places. Get a bunch of dudes to order your limited release variant, then you get to cherry pick all the good ones and send them all the . Great business model.
  2. That sucks sorry to hear that, at least they gave you a refund and on the brightside be thankful you aren't one of the people that paid 200 bucks for a pre-ordered set on ebay i bet those guys are having fun explaining to their ebay buyers they still dont have the book yet.
  3. Too late listed it as an auction and it already has a bid on it. lets just hope it goes higher than 99 cents
  4. I've decided to list my Venom #1 mcfarlane b/w variant on ebay because I "don't have that crystal ball" and don't want to get hosed sitting on it hoping for a big profit, I am curious how it will sell being its the first 9.8 of that book to hit ebay. It does seem the raw books have cooled a bit as far as what they are going for which makes me wonder even more if I should hold for a bit or sell now.
  5. Thanks for the link. I can't believe Zanadu Comics is asking for 80 grand I think at that point it's time to re-evaluate what you're doing and how you're approaching it. I will say their location is most likely part of the problem. They are located in the heart of downtown Seattle where there is little to no parking so they are dependant mostly on foot traffic which that and of itself is problematic since they are on a block that doesn't have many other shops to lure people in and most of the people walking buy are homeless people and crackheads. I generally don't like going over there because of the people hanging around outside on that block are sketch to say it nicely and I can bet most people who are into comics aren't going to want to deal with that.
  6. So do you guys think the Mcfarlane variant is worth holding onto
  7. This is what I've been doing for the past few years only applied to football cards (Yes I'm a die hard Seahawk Fan). But collecting autographed Russell Wilson rookie cards has started to become boring as I have most of what I want. Over the past few years I've invested and sold smart enough to wear I currently have about 2 grand in Autographed Russell Wilson Rookie Cards that haven't cost me a dime. Now trying to apply the same logic back into comics has proven somewhat more difficult than in sports cards. The markets I think are a lot more stable in sports cards and much more predictable vs comics which seems to have a ton of volatility one minute your 9.8 is worth $600 two weeks later its dropped a few hundred bucks and you're stuck. It's made me very reluctant to really want to pull the trigger on any big dollar items and one of the reasons I found my self on this board hoping to get an inside edge on trends or at the very least a better understanding of them. With that being said it almost at this point in time seems easier to just continue buying and selling cards and taking said profits into the comic arena where if I fail at least in the end I lost nothing. With sports cards, there is a connection between value and the real physical world. Players actually exist, and actually play sports. You can hype up players to a certain extent, but ultimately, it's anchored in reality. So if a player is good, their cards should be worth more and a player who has never been in the majors should be worth less? Definitely not the case. Because a person, anchored in reality, has given their OPINION. I see.... There is speculation on sports cards especially in football and baseball where someone is coming out of the draft and heading into the MLB or NFL. A great example of this was the Marcus Mariota rookie card, a lot of the cards were selling for thousands of dollars and yet he didn't quite measure up to the hype his rookie year and those cards that were thousands have dropped 40-60%. However then you have Kris Byrant in baseball. His rookie autograph card was selling for 5 to 10 thousand depending if it was graded BGS 9.5 or BGS 10 he however lived up to the hype, won a world series with the cubs and became the National League MVP and those same cards have almost doubled in price because of it. But if you have an understanding of sports and of reality you can gauge to some extent if the hype is over inflated or if it holds water. With Mariota judging on his college play and the expectations the hype brought with his transition to the NFL I have a pretty good feeling he wouldn't make the cut and his cards that were a few grand would drop. With Bryant there was a legitimate chance especially with the team he landed on (the Cubs) that we would do great things and have and thus it looked to be a good bet that those cards would in fact in the worse case hold their value and best case explode in value. A great example of that is the 2013 Bowman Draft Chrome Kris Bryant Auto Superfractor 1/1 BGS 9.5 that just sold on ebay for 70 grand. Transitioning that into the comic book world I almost feel like I need a crystal ball to understand what will hold value and what may one day become valuable. I do like to read comics so at least I can buy what I like to read with the hope it may one day be worth something. But this doesn't allow me to buy / sell to the point where I can make enough to afford the comics I want for instance Spawn #185 B/W Sketch or the Spawn #222 Kudranski Variant.

  9. Why is it that the Rebirth Harley Quin #1 Pink Dell'Otto variant was going for like $700+ on ebay back in oct / nov and now you can get it for under $200 was it just a pump and dump variant or what ?
  10. Found this while browsing the web, for those that just subbed their books without getting to actually read them. http://readcomicbooksonline.com/reader/Venom_2017/Venom_Issue_1/1
  11. Sad isn't it. I hope its for the art, and not for a perception of "investment" isn't this whole thread just about store variants? No long term value in store variants, even if they make the print run 10, or 1. Using popular artists, good art, virgin covers to hide the store logo, etc, doesnt change what it is. Almost everywhere these are talked about, shown, or sold, no one says "store variant" or shows the "back cover".... PS Also, love that cBSi, lists their own store variant as the top book of their top 10 list. the lulz I picked up a couple regular covers. I like the new character (Priest) and hope he stays for a while. I give the story. 7 out of ten. Oh btw.I would never buy this store variant. I'm not an investor or flipper. The price is to much for me to buy for the art. In my opinion it's offensive to be charged 40+ bucks for a new book because it's a "limited variant" ...unless it's part of an actual print run from the company. I paid a decent penny for the variant but it was the Mcfarlane 1 per store variant and the book was flawless, really hoping for a 9.8 on this.
  12. Furthermore I can't see myself ever buying anything from Frankies after this mess. Seems like a scam, you get the books while we cherry pick the good ones first. I'm good on that .
  13. I am sure as hell glad I was able to get the #1 Dell'otto variant refunded to me on ebay before it shipped. I want to say thank you to the guy who first broke the news on this or I would have spent $200 on a piece of .
  14. New to some of this, does that mean that CBSI gets first dibs on any of the books that are likely to grade 9.8 before they get sent out to the customers?
  15. At this point it looks like dude wasnt talking out his butt about them not being the best quality
  16. At this point im contacting the ebay seller and hoping he'll give me a refund because I'd rather miss out on this and be wrong than spend 200 bucks and this mess be real. I contacted frankies and they emailed me back saying that #1 was shipped in mylar bags and that #2 and #3 wont which leads me to believe this may be real enough that they would change how #2 and #3 were being bagged. I love the art on this variant and i'm a huge venom fan. Id rather pay the ebay premium once the books are out vs getting hosed because they were not packaged right and the sellers didn't want to get stuck with books and sent them out to the customers anyway.
  17. I ordered 0 copies of this variant. But I would just like to state for the record that everything you said about a CBSI mod giving you information about this book is false. As a CBSI mod I can say we do not care. Please post evidence before you try spouting F.A.C.T.s. Thanks As a CBSI mod you can say you don't care about what, that they are damaged and being sent out anyway? is it a coincidence that you and the person I originally responded to signed up to join the CGC boards within a day of each other? I don't think so. Is it also a coincidence that Brian Springman - someone that was kicked out of the Frankies Comics operation for his online postings where he bad mouthed other retailers and has posted verbatim the original post on Google+ several times in the past day? No. Keep it classy. I'm not sure what you're talking about but it sounds like there is some parinoia mixed with bad attitude. I'm new to the site yes, because I'm trying to find out as much info about the new venom series and I thought this to be a good spot to get info. When I see a guy say they are messed up due to being bagged wrong and then you post your a mod and don't care it concerns me when I spent a good amount of cash on one of these. I think you need to go smoke a joint or something and calm down.

  19. So basically you're saying I can look forward to a damaged :500 variant arriving in the mail.
