  1. Yes. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/mike-mcmahon-2000-ad-2-judge-dredd-first-appearance-complete-5-page-story-original-art-ipc-total-5-/p/7212-234003.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  2. Are you interested in the 2000 AD #2 Dredd debut 5 pager from Mick McCMahon? My eyes popped out of my head when I saw that. That's the Amazing Fantasy #15 interior art of British Comics.
  3. Any guesses on the Cat in the Hat lunchbox art? If that was actually Geisel, it would be astronomical. But, it's just some unknown commercial artist, I assume? https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/the-world-of-dr-seuss-cat-in-the-hat-lunchbox-illustration-original-art-aladdin-industries-1970-andlt-/p/7212-61001.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  4. Yes. There may be some gamesmanship to get it up there, but I don't think a straight up auction would do it. I disagree with Gene on this, strongly. (Which is a brave stance, admittedly).
  5. Any guesses on the 2000 AD #2 (First Judge Dredd 5 page story appearance)? I'm a massive Dreddhead, so this is grail territory for me. But, how will this play in a US comic art auction? I regard this as the Amazing Fantasy #15 interior art pages of British comic art. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/mike-mcmahon-2000-ad-2-judge-dredd-first-appearance-complete-5-page-story-original-art-ipc-total-5-/p/7212-234003.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  6. I'm loving this Frazetta page. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/frank-frazetta-thun-da-king-of-the-congo-1-story-page-5-original-art-magazine-enterprises/p/7212-128003.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  7. I’m gonna say under the GL #76 cover on the Batman 251. Barely breaks $400K, if that. Would not shock me to go way under, say around $250K.
  8. At $7K - I’d feel entitled to do some art direction and seeing preliminaries.
  9. If he turned in substandard work to a comic company, they’d tell him to redraw it.
  10. Yes. But if you didn't own the page, would you pay $15K for it if you knew "comparable" brown Batman pages were going for $300-$500?
  11. Saw that book in the shop last week. Heckuva pickup, Fred.
  12. Not my cup of tea, so I would not have bid on it in any case. And it literally only had one bid, suggesting a dealer bought it for inventory.
  13. Some modern covers are pretty nice, and obviously are covers. Usually, those are signed by the artist.
  14. I recently bought a page of art from a book that has exactly ZERO sales comps. The only thing I could find was a page from that book on a dealer website, and the price the dealer was asking. I thought my page was better (the dealer page was a full page splash, but not as interesting), and I paid less than what the Dealer was asking. And, frankly, I have no idea how long the dealer had that page sitting there at the higher price unsold (probably for a while), so my price was probably more accurate for my page. I'm getting relatively good at guesstimating value. I tend to undervalue things, though.
  15. $61 a page? For ink washed Art by Val Mayerick? Sure. I guess.
  16. I'm probably going to start just saving up for one big purchase per year than spread it out like I have been.
  17. I'd be a little wary of this page for a few reasons. 1. This is not the modern version of the Suicide Squad. 2. It's early Silver Age twice up art, BUT...non-superhero stuff. Even though this comic is the "1st appearance" of the SS, it's not REALLY the 1st App of the SS that most current fans know. It's just the name. I'd price this as comparable to 1950's non EC War or Adventure twice up art, but with about a 50% premium for the Suicide Squad aspect of it. And I do not expect this to hold its value over time. That said, it's a fun page. But, it's really a niche page. Only two types of collectors will want this: People who like Silver Age War or Adventure (non superhero art); and speculators who want the page strictly because it's from B&B 25 the "First Appearance" of the Suicide Squad. I don't think that's a huge pool of collectors.
  18. I think this is the page, based upon the OP’s description.
  19. Martin Marazzo. Ice Cream Man #4. Pages 20-22. Introduction and first appearance of Caleb.
  20. In the modern era, there are more covers to a typical book than that really great internal splash page from the same book.
