  1. Look. If most of the big dealers, hobby heavy hitters and people like us say we will blycott HA until they drop their double dipping, excessive fees structure, and shift business to their competitors, they may decide to charge reasonable fees. They charge it, because we stupidly pay it.
  2. Have you been to C2E2? That was pretty impressive when I went.
  3. Can I ask a question of the veterans? If you had the rank the Cons for original art collectors, how would you rank them?
  4. I have a couple search terms set up to "notify me," but nothing ever comes up that I want.
  5. How do you set your tracking list to notify you? did you have "Leonardi" or "Bulandini" search terms? Or "Daredevil cover"?
  6. I think you got that at a great price, frankly. Heckuva cover.
  7. Anyone think this would have a chance to hit $1 Million?
  8. To that end, does anyone think this is a legit Mignola sketch? https://m.ebay.com/itm/Mike-Mignola-SKETCH-Hellboy-ART/113029062670?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180213162448%26meid%3D39c40ec8889f4be3bc347a775cd39d08%26pid%3D100930%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D282990308463%26itm%3D113029062670&_trksid=p2056116.c100930.m5375
  9. I think the cover to Silver Surfer #4 might also have a shot. We are talking about pages known to exist, right?
  10. It’s not the first Joker Page. There is a big splash introducing the Joker a few pages before this one. But that’s probably no longer in existence.
  11. I think if it featured Batman and/or Robin rather than the Joker, it might actually be worth less. Batman #1 is the first appearance of Joker, so a Joker Page from that book is really special. But, as I said, I got pushback for suggesting that it would be a seven figure Page.
  12. I suggested that n the other thread, and got a lot of pushback.
  13. Here's my personal "holy mess!" piece in their upcoming June 5 auction: The original pencil sketch for the original Animal House movie poster.
  14. I was drawn to the cellulite in her left thigh! Only Frazetta could get away with that in a fantasy painting.
  15. Anyone familiar with this auction house, or gallery? It looks like they have some very nice pieces, including some Peanuts strips. https://www.swanngalleries.com/news/2018/03/june-5-illustration-art-auction/ Here's a New Yorker cartoon by Tom Toro in the auction. There are also some Mad covers and illustrations in there, including this gem from Wally Wood.
  16. This topic got me to researching. Has anyone looked into Fireproof BAGS as opposed to safes? You can store the bag in a locked room or cabinet for security, but the bag itself is much cheaper than a large fireproof safe. The only problem I have found is that I cannot find many that are large enough to store art portfolios or art. This is one of the few I was able to find. Its designed to protect documents in the event of a plane or car crash. https://www.usbanksupply.com/index.cfm/go2/view/pID/1398/n/16qmark-w-x-18qmark-h-x-7qmark-d-fire_resistant-locking-courier-bags Here's another product, with the following description: "These bags are made from 1000 denier nylon and have a fire resistant liner sewn inside of the bag which can withstand temperatures up to 2500 degrees plus fahrenheit. While we make no claim or guarantee they are "fire proof" and not sure anyone can given enough heat and exposure time, they certainly give a much greater degree of protection to important papers and items that would have no fire protection at all." They have an 18" x 14" bag with internal dimensions of 16" x 14". There are other bags out there that are also water resistant, or waterproof as well as fireproof. But I haven't been able to find many that fit OA
  17. Or, maybe they were all shunted off to Battle World by the Beyonder.
  18. I have a Baretto New Teen Titans title splash featuring Cyborg, so I am interested where the one in this auction will end up. Mine is better, though. It features him actually doing superhero stuff, and his cybernetics are not covered up.
  19. I bought a 50 year old comic that had a price sticker on it that was probably almost as old as the comic. The book was in pretty good condition, otherwise. When I got it in the mail, I used a hair dryer to heat up the glue and eventually peel the sticker right off the comic without doing any damage to it. I put another piece of paper in between the hot air and the comic, though, just to be safe.
  20. The problem is that virtually all of OA pages that survived from this early period tend to be covers, rescued by people like Jerry Robinson. Someome rescued this random page? Why? It makes more sense if you assume someone rescued the whole Joker story.
  21. Depends on how much you have invested in it. If you have a relatively low basis, then hold onto it. If you have a relatively high basis in it, then cash out while you can. I think the bottom is going to drop out of that book for a few years. Might come back up later.
  22. I think the fact that this page survived suggests that the rest of the pages from this issue also survived.
  23. Well, based on what Tom told me when I was in his shop looking through art, and trying to negotiate prices, he said that it totally depends on the artist. Generally, they are not willing to sell their pages for anything less than the listed price. I think that is particularly true for Stuart Immonen (and if you are talking about a Star Wars page, that is probably the case). As he explained it, the artists are perfectly content to hold onto their pages, rather than sel them at a reduced rate. And I think a guy like Immonen, who has a pretty steady art income, that is probably the case. But, it never hurts to ask.
