  1. I have a Paul Ryan/Tom Palmer Avengers page. I'm not sure it was a great combo.
  2. Big John's little brother, Sal, may have been his best inker.
  3. I think "avoiding fees" is a big part of it. If you have premier stuff, and you know all the big players, you don't have to go through the auction houses.
  4. This is one of the reasons why I have set myself a $1000 per piece limit on my purchases. Also, it's one reason why I have shifted more toward modern stuff. I think the modern stuff has a future when the current fans of those books mature. But, the older stuff is going to top out, for non-special pieces anyway. Look at the GA market for run-of-the-mill panel pages compared to the Bronze Age marvel stuff right now. There is a demographic wave effecting prices, and there is a certain amount of spillover caused by speculation. If the OA market collapses, my family won't be stuck with pages that they can't get a fraction of what I paid for them. I enjoy them, but when I'm gone, they may not want them.
  5. That's interesting. I once had an artist acquaintance, who is a published comic artist - and also a big Adams fan - tell me that he wished Adams didn't ink his own stuff. He wasn't a fan of it.
  6. The OP art looks kind of rushed, rather than "free."
  7. Hard to say. But I'm leaning toward Giordano, based upon this Adams/Giordano collaboration.
  8. My suggestion would be to buy one of these instead. https://www.previewsworld.com/Catalog/OCT150238
  9. My Nova page looks like Infantino accidentally spilled an ink well all over it, so he had to cut a half art board and paste it on top of the stain. LOL! It looks fine. But, you can see the spill when you hold it up to the light.
  10. Ironically, Felix just posted a photo showing how large all of the packed up Paul Pope art he's shipping out is compared to the regular-sized 11x17 art.
  11. Nice! I have an Infantino Nova page. Loved that series. And I bought the 1st issue off of a comics rack at my local 7-11 when I was a kid. I still have it!
  12. Someone is selling a whole slew of "Earl Norem" preliminary sketch art (mostly done for Men's magazines) on eBay, which the seller claims came from the Norem estate. Any Norem collectors want to comment? https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=earl+norem
  13. No, but I'm, right there with you. I've seen interior art from these for sale, but not any of the covers.
  14. I notice the Calvin & Hobbes strip art in this auction is doing pretty well so far.
  15. I’d add McCay and Herrimann to that short list. Maybe early Raymond as well.
  16. The thing about auctions is that once you’ve bid up to your max on an item, it’s very easy to break through the psychological barrier and bid ~just~ a bit more to get it.
  17. What would you rather own? The Stephens Vampirella cover? Or the Carl Barks duck painting? I’m speaking to everyone here, not just Gene specifically because I know he’s a big Vampirella art, and Stephens fan, so that cover probably hits his Collector sweet spot.
  18. Well, we could ask Scott if that was the case. But one man's "generic" is another man's "classic," I guess. I mean, isn't the cover to Spider-Man 300 "generic" by that standard? It's just Spidey swinging on a web over the NY skyline.
  19. I like 608 1st print too. But, it's a little too Spider-Manny. I don't think the 2nd print 608 is "generic." It's a classic Batman pose, done by a classic artist.
  20. Just out of curiosity, what’s the Penciller/Inker OA breakdown on covers? How many of these were you able to keep? And do you still have any of them? Or does Jim get dibs on all the covers you guys produce?
  21. It has to be 608 2nd printing, doesn’t it? That’s a classic pose.
