Wonder in what order they will start the signing in, first books received or last books received? Guess this will determine how the signature turns out. If they’ve just stacked all the boxes in the interim, then last books received get signed first, but if they’ve organized the books by by receipt date then first books get signed. Doesn’t mtatter I guess, just more curious.
Lots of books need signing though.

Books marked received!!!
just hope the “TM’s” on the biz were big enough for them to see. 🤞

And, it’s sent.

I am in! CGC has received my two Platinum Spider-Man 1s that I shipped on Wednesday.
Was this listed on your cgc account for submissions? Waiting for confirmation of mine.

I was concerned about the holidays and delivery times. So I sent it via USPS Priority Express 12/3, delivered and received/entered into CGC 12/4. Yea it was a heftier price and lesson learned; don't procrastinate!
Interesting thing, though, is that because the delivery did not meet the guaranteed time, it qualifies for a full refund.
Fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone!
Did the same. Tracking says box arrived yesterday no information on my account yet though. That price tag for shipping was not fun.

I wouldn't do it. I would stick with a yellow only label and with creators that actually worked on the book.
Edit: If you’re dead set on having a Stan Lee / Todd McFarlane book, then buy a yellow label Stan book and have a witness / CGC crack it open and get it done that way.
At the moment financially the raw book option fits best. Otherwise I would definitely go the route your suggesting. It’s for my PC so it’s all good if it’s a yellow/green.

do you have a picture of the slab.
I am thinking of this as a crease or wrinkle or pleat... but if it was done during production there might not be colour underneath that crease; So pressing it flat might leave a gap specially if its in a coloured area as oppose to in a white area it might be as noticeable.
this is the only thing I found on someone calling it a printers vein. it might help
Thanks for the link. Was definitely helpful!

what is a printer vein? do you mean crease? is there colour missing underneath the crease?
a picture might help explain your defect and get you better response and answers.
I’m actually not well versed with this. Looking to purchase a slab and the seller said the grader notes stated that there was a printer vein. So not sure what it looks like.
Whatever it is, I’m hoping it can be pressed out or that someone else can chime in and help explain.
-
Hello! Not sure what’s it is, but can a printer vein be pressed out, and does it lower the grade if slabbed? Thanks!

If you had a raw book signed by Stan Lee, would you send it in for Todd to sign even though it would get the green yellow label?

basic answer is you should give what you would be comfortable receiving. But you should probably keep in mind that this is a collector site, so grade is certainly worth considering. I am sending some mid grade readers in a larger lot as my gift.
Thanks! That’s that’s what I figured considering the forum, but had to ask to be clear.
-
First time participating, so dumb question considering, but I’m going to ask anyway. For these gifts should the grade of the specific books matter?

I've had books signed by McFarlane in the past (not through CGC) and from what I'm told by the facilitator, Todd is notorious for signing in whatever ink color he feels in the moment and doesn't really pay any attention to requests for ink color preference. I sent my books in with an ask for Silver, but was told that on the actual day, midway through signing, Todd decided to switch and started using a blue Sharpie! My heart sank, as I think blue kills the look. Anyways, when I finally got my books back, I was relieved that mine made it in the silver batch. Facilitator told me I got lucky, as in the end no one can tell Todd what to do
That’s a bit concerning considering not all colors will look right on all covers. Some might just blend so much that you don’t even see the signature. Now I’m even more hesitant about sending any books in.

I was thinking this too. I have a Hulk 340 I was thinking about sending in, but its probably no higher than a 9.0 at best, and I know values will plummet once people start getting their books back from CGC in the short term. I’m actually now leaning towards finding a cleaner copy this weekend, or skipping the signing and checking ebay in a few months. So hard to decide though, the submitting and waiting for a grade is all part of the fun and I’m not really looking to sell anytime soon.
Do you think the values will come down significantly after this signing? Guess it would depend on which books. I’m thinking of submitting more for my PC.
Might consider waiting too if it will save a few $$$

I’m in. Hope I don’t disappoint. Thanks!

Just realized a thread has already been started with a lot of questions answered. If you’re still needing help.

Have questions I haven’t seen asked yet, will the post-office ship with the “TM” written on all sides of the box?
Thought the only writting permitted when shipping were the addresses.
And, does cgc accept money orders, cashier checks or electronic payments for direct submissions?
Thanks!
-
Hello folks! Sadly I must admit that I am not well versed in knowing how to fill out the cgc forms. I’d like to send books for the McFarlane signing and realized I’ve only done submissions at cons or via a facilitator so need some help.
Also, can you submit payment electronically or do you have to send a check/money order? I’ve got an account so not sure how to factor in the discount either.
Thanks in advance!

In making an offer to buy with the original owner of one...
The book came signed and it’s printed not actually signed.
1 hour ago, ygogolak said:Correct, that's printed in every copy.
Thanks for confirming. Thought the listing was odd to state that it was signed.

Thanks
I know print run is low 1500 silver 500 gold but they seem so readily available which made me question why there so expensive.
Though the THX variant is a give away and kinda reminds me of what they did with Spider-Man 1 Platinum and that really has my attention since that platinum is always in demand.
Speaking of the THX variant, I thought McFarlane was not signing these? There’s a copy on eBay stating that its signed on the inside. Pictures provided.
I don’t own a copy so wouldn’t know if they all have a printed signature. Can anyone confirm?

That's not the version with turd, is it...?
The only way to get the gold version was to purchase the turd baby. Whether folks are selling the golds with the turds varies from seller to seller.
I’d take a gold and turd.
just waiting for the prices to hopefully drop.
