  1. My theory here is that Heritage and CGC left absolutely no meat on the bone and redid CPR if there was even a shadow of a non-color breaking crease. Flippers may be trying to get some higher grades, and a few might succeed, but I do not think there is anything left to CPR. All the Promise in these books have been pressed out.
  2. That is crazy and really sad! You have to wonder just how many of these books are going to disintegrate 20 years from now due to the CPR to which they are subjected. May not happen but I will not be surprised if it does.
  3. No idea. Heritage definitely expected it to do better. It was a Featured book.
  4. Posting this everywhere because I am so thrilled to have it! Another one of those "grail" books off the list!
  5. Someone had a bunch of them at the Dallas Collector's Summit last weekend. I think it was the Buzzard Brothers, maybe? Fun to look through but I am pursuing enough runs; I do not need to start up another OCD compulsion!
  6. Some of those foreign Timely/Atlas covers are amazing. This one does not disappoint!
  7. Yes it was. Only copy of it I saw. The show was great. I got to meet some dealers I've only met through email and I saw a handful of boardies. My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. Mark Twain's typewriter blew me away. Love mark Twain.

  9. Had a great time at the Collector's Summit in Dallas this weekend. Picked up a new book.
  10. Nevermind. I found a good article on Carl Buettner. https://www.lambiek.net/artists/b/buettner_carl.htm#:~:text=Carl Von Buettner,in two vastly different genres.
  11. He is so good. For years I thought they were Barks' covers but I was corrected on these very boards. Is there anything that talks about who he was and what happened to him?
  12. Just cause its one of my favorite covers.
  13. I need to do more box hunting. I always pay way more attention to the wall books and almost never dig through the boxes. I'll try to do better in Dallas this weekend.
  14. Very nice! Thank you for posting these! I've never seen some of these later issues.
  15. I think very few people buy Duck books for investment. There might be a few like WDC&S #1 and FC #386 which. over a long time, have a good return but the rest are too market/buyer sensitive. I remember Overstreet's notations saying, "Prices vary widely on this book." Really that should be on all the Disney GA. Some dealers swear you cannot move them for guide and I know another one that will take every duck book you have, in nice shape, and swears he can sell them for a tidy profit. Many, most?, dealers do not bother bringing Duck books to shows because they just do not sell regardless of grade. However, the last Duck book I bought was from a major dealer at a small show. Figuring out Duck prices and sales trends is confusing.
