XMAS in May! Book was on the stands late Nov/Early Dec 1979 so I totally consider it Bronze. Only placed a low bid to keep track of it, I never expected to actually win. Had auction been in Oct-Dec I likley never would have won. It's now been re-united with some of its family from Vane's old DC Digest collection. Like most from Vanes old 9.8 collection it's 1/1, and in this case the only copy CGC has graded. I looked for one for nearly 2 decades that was decent all were in cat-toy type condition. Giving the material, target audience, print run, and no direct sale (IIRC) of the issue it makes sense.

I've recently re-united some of Vane's DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest Digests with their siblings in my collection. As small DC digests go, I'm a big fan. Thanks again to Vane for all his efforts!

Great book! Have fond memories as small child of the very day I purchased it The Graded populations are on the high side. Still, I do wonder if it was a Marvel book with same significance how much higher the $ amount of actual sales would be? 2x? 3x? 4x? Perhaps if Raven,Cyborg and Starfire and The Titans were actually on the cover (the ultra tiny inside cover facsimile does not count) it would be more desirable? Glad to have my 9.8 Newsstand even if its not worth anymore than it cost me 5 years ago!

You are correct regarding ComicConnect . I'm used to trading cards where almost every Auction house charge additional 15-20% premium. I believe the Comiclink 3% fee applies only if payment not received in 7 days.

Items I won on Monday shipped yesterday. I do know they had all mine in their possession from my phone convo on Tues, which means faster than Heritage to ship in this case.

Responding to a very old post I do agree that would be very nice! However, my guess is the only reason digests are graded is they fit into the standard footprint. Likely there is not enough demand to justify the overall custom slab size equipment and material expense from CGC 's perspective. I also feel no chance enough there would be enough demand for Digest size graded boxes or mylite sleeves to be made. Extending my thanks and appreciation to Vane for all his time, efforts and expense in gathering raw then slabbing his former digest collection. Thanks to him many of these beautiful but near zero demand books are in 9.8 slabs. I am the lucky current proud owner of a few of them, my favorites being the JSA issues, Perez Supergirl cover, and the 100 Power Pages Of Blistering Battle Action Haunted Tank issue. Speaking of the Haunted Tank issue, when I was a kid a buddy of mine had the issue and for a short time back then 100 Power Pages Of Blistering Battle Action became our catch phrase, actually still kind of is... P.S. I am seeking (offering top dollar) for 9.8 Best of DC Blue Ribbon Digest 03 Super-Friends - Vane sold it just a scant week or so before I first made contact with him.

Hi, Question: Until seeing this topic I considered pre-Crisis issues of Batman Bronze and Post Crisis Copper. Is that totally wrong? If so what is the estimate cut-off issue # speaking of Batman and Detective.

I won some items on CLINK Monday and called to arrange payment on Tues morning. In these times their physically present "shipping dept" is very small perhaps even 1 person. I was told they will ship FIFO based on time of payment. Seems fair and patience is key. I've dealt with them for about 15 years personally never had any issue and as auction houses go they are my preferred. Of course that is mostly due to no buyers Vig !

Thanks man! The reason I posted to this topic is I started to read through my old Joe's this past week . #2 has no Cobra, tight scripting, and overall is probably the most "realistic" of any of the issues in the series or at least the first 60 issues that constitute my "era". Too bad that back in the day #2 allegedly suffered from "low distribution". My opinion is more of case of #1 being printed in great numbers then many really liking the book and grabbing up #2. It was not until issue 4 that production caught up with the vast demand. As I recall #3 was somewhat also difficult to find in the 80's (was kid then so memories a bit hazy).

My random GI Joe thoughts: #2 is my favorite in the series, always has been. After all these years it's still a great read. Glad I picked up a 9.8 years back. I recall at a con I attended in the late 90's JHV had short box full of 1's for $2 each un-bagged. I picked up one of the copies I felt was in nicest condition. Had it slabbed in 2000, it received a 9.8 (old school label!) and have kicked myself in the arse ever since for not grabbing a few more that I thought were equal in grade to mine.

Dealt with Beck twice several years apart between. The first time like you I felt an anomaly, the next time was in person and after a bit of nonsense I simply (and literally) walked away. I'll leave you with this thought - never Trust ANY dealer.

Interesting and Fun topic! Found some of the Canadian Newsstand Price Variants RAW at a show that looked so nice that I had them graded. None were pressed! Annoying that when I created the invoices the Canadian editions were in the pull down list, all appeared correct on the invoice/forms and when checked in at CGC's booth i had them attach a note, but when I received them no Canadian notation on the slabs What really gets me is the Supergirl also shows "Canadian" under the price! Seriously CGC? Bottom cut off as the Slabs don't completely fit on my scanner. My apologies for the redacted bar codes and cert #'s but have had numbers "appropriated" by others for their registries in past.

Terrific page. On one of kind items my feeling is seriously why bother. It's not like there is a better one of the same piece. As for the authentication angle, OK I guess, but anyone who is not able determine if "real" on their own I feel is in the wrong hobby. Apologies if my comment comes off as harsh but this hobby, unlike comics books, at current prices is no longer a place for greenhorns

Also an admittedly small sampling. That said it allowed me to focus on published art from the earliest comic reading days of my youth which for me has been most rewarding.

Mother, father, and older sister dying. Mother dying and older sister pregnant. Older sister dying and mother pregnant. Younger sister pregnant and older sister dying. Here's an oldie but a goodie: Half of the family dying, other half pregnant. Got nearly the same excuse from an artist a while back. My opinion is shelling out money for commissions is significantly riskier than gambling given winning is rare . Which is why I no longer participate in the art commission game.

Thanks for the link! Buying one of them now. I see the original Thanos Copter art page with the image used on the new toy's box is in a gallery on the Comic Art website. Other than the Chuck Norris #1 cover this may very well be the coolest page of art in any of the gallery's.

Hello TheGirlHasNoName; Adventure Comics 459-466 From issues 459-466 Adventure Comics was a 68 page, $1 book. $1.00 was pretty much the price of 3 regular comic books combined back then, as result these did not sell in great numbers. The book's also have different front cover look which in addition to the page count and price I feel separates them nicely from the rest of the run, much as the later digests do. Issue #462 in my opinion is Bronze Age minor key, albeit a sad one, as it features the Death of the GA/Earth II Batman. Many thanks for your time, effort and consideration in fulfilling this request.
