  1. I don't buy incomplete books, so I'm not that familiar with how they're graded. Can an incomplete book get a numerical grade, or would it automatically receive an "NG?"
  2. True, but the book is incomplete. The grade on a trimmed book should be no higher than 1.0, in my humble opinion.
  3. Sports are virtually omnipresent in our culture now. Back in the '80s, college football killed off some of my favorite Saturday morning kids' shows, and it's only gotten worse since then. I enjoy participating in sports, but I have no interest in being a spectator.
  4. I only have one copy of Overstreet. I take it to flea markets and estate sales in case there's any disagreement about the value of a book.
  5. When did @ciorac pose for that comic book cover? Slightly hunched back to really hunched back.
  6. Even with what Promise books have been going for, that one surprises me, too. Maybe someone is going after a highest-graded run of that title. I would have predicted a hammer price around $2K. For some people $8,400 is nothing. Those people used to look down their noses at comic book collecting, but I guess the hobby is more socially acceptable now. (For many years I was ridiculed mercilessly by anyone who found out I collected comic books; people were outraged that a grown man would collect comic books. I'm sure some people still feel that way, but I don't get harassed the way I used to )
  7. Jann wielding a knife to Alani wielding a knife.
  8. There was a big push to add Trump's face to Mt. Rushmore, which would have made five presidents, so in the spirit of that venture I'll name five artists and go with Lou Fine, Alex Schomburg, Matt Baker, Graham Ingles, and Dan Zolnerowich. L. B. Cole would be the runner up.
  9. Detective Comics and Action Comics are probably the safest titles over that long of a timeframe. Captain America Comics isn't bad, either. Anything that isn't a DC or Timely superhero book is risky over that long of a timeframe.
  10. Yes, prices are all over the place. I've seen some PLODs sell for as little as 10% of what a universal copy would sell for. I'm sure it depends on the book.
  11. Robin got a new rope, huh? Maybe he won't have to spend quite so much time playing with Batman's rope.
  12. I don't think CGC has ever followed Overstreet, but I've seen books that looked NM knocked down to 7.5 for smaller spine splits than that one.
  13. Old man bound by the wrists to old man bound by the wrists.
  14. Painted Ziff-Davis necking to painted Ziff-Davis hand holding.
  15. I have yet to win anything on HA, but I did buy this one last night. It has MacArthur on the cover, and MacArthur ended up commanding the troops in Korea, where Junie was killed.
