Have you seen what they're calling off-white now? The page quality designations were relaxed around the end of '05, and I think they've been relaxed again. I no longer bid on books with off-white pages unless they're in old-label slabs.

The cover is clearly brittle, but I don't think that the cover factors into the page quality designation. The pages may not be brittle. (They do look awfully dark, though.)

I never knew that the Savannah pedigree included GA books. There can't be very many.

I don't get it either. I've had books knocked down to 9.2 for similar issues. I have seen comparable dust shadows on 9.4s—many of the Mile Highs have some dust shadows on the back covers—but on 9.8s? Not that I can recall. I have seen Larsons with pretty bad foxing get fairly high grades, but never above 9.4. It seems like the bar for 9.8 has been lowered, as has the bar for 9.6.

OCD is a real problem amongst collectors. I remember when the new CGG labels came out, some collectors sent in all of their old-label books to be re-holdered because they wanted the labels to match. I can't claim to be completely immune. I've passed on books that were on my want list because they were in magazine holders. I've heard that some collectors have OCD so severe that they have to include emoticons in every post.

The expression on the ghost's face isn't scary enough. He looks like he's going to ask the killer to go have beer with him. If not for that, it would be AAA-worthy.

I personally think that there's more shill bidding on CLink than on other venues. CLink is a small company and has no way of controlling it, so I would trust GPA data less if CLink were included.
