    Swamp Thing issue #50 Bissette & Totleben page *SOLD*

    In issue #50 of Swamp Thing, Etrigan was the first to enter the darkness of evil and get spit out. He was then followed by Dr. Fate, The Specter, and Swamp Thing. One of these pages just sold on HA for $6,600. I'm looking to sell this page for $5,500 or best offer. Will accept Zelle, or cashier check. Time payments are fine. Trade is doable.

    In 2011 James Jean did a signing at LACMA for his newly released book Rebus. My wife and I attended and he was kind enough to Remarque each of our copies. This armless bicycle rider he did for my wife (see here) JJ wife and this headless fairy for me (see here) JJ me . My wife had taken pictures of the event but they were lost many years ago. Or so we thought. While looking through the history of her pictures, It turned out they were still there along with a short video of him drawing. I've attached one picture of him drawing my headless fairy. There is a second one on my fairy post on CAFs. Have a look.

    Decided to Quit Commissions from Artists…

    I gave up on Art Adams. Many years ago I was at a Wonder-Con (I think it was Wonder-Con) and asked him what was the best way to get a commission. He asked if I was going to SDCC and when I told him yes he instructed me to be at his table first thing Wednesday. Myself and one other guy was there when he arrived and he told me he wouldn't have time for a commission. Before he even sat at his table in the very first hour of the very first day of SDCC he already had a list of 15 people. Before he even reached his table. That was it for me.

    For those few who thought I started this post with "Sal Buscema is a God!" just to ruffle feathers let me be clear, I didn't. This is the way I feel about this artist and I wanted to share my joy of winning this page of Sal's work. At no point did I ask for validation of my opinion or any blow back from you who don't appreciate what he did for comics. When I wrote "Why is he a God?' you will notice I only stayed within the parameters of how prolific he was. I did not venture into the fog of comparing his work to other artist as a measure of his talent. Many seem to enjoy wading through that swamp. If you wish to lay down your opinion of his technique please have at it. Just don't presume you have incite (possible misspelling) into my motivation of this post. (Insert emoji of tongue sticking out at you)

    He is the artist I associate with the Hulk more than any other. I just won this page that I remember vividly from my youth. The third panel has been etched in my mind for decades and it pops into my head whenever I watch The Avengers movie with the Hulk jumping onto a jet in mid flight. The scene looks like it was taken directly from this page. Right down to the pilot ejecting. Have a look. Sal

    Why is he a God? Between the years 1975 and 1985 Sal penciled 116 issues of The Incredible Hulk only missing 7 issues during his run. Within these same years he also penciled 57 issues of Rom Space Knight, 13 issues of Nova and the Defenders and was also doing filler issues of other various titles. If that isn't enough to impress you consider the fact that many of these comics were inked by Sal himself.

    The inked piece is the commission Lee Bermejo did for me at NYCC 2011. The color print is to be released soon. I think it's cool to have my piece inspire a print so many years later.
