Cool thread - Issue 176 comes to mind, not once but twice! 1. Avengers - Korvac saga..Avengers 177 was the big battle I believe but that doesn't work with my 176 theme - and the cover to 176 reflects the battle 2. But even more nostalgic, if not as epic, Impossible Man vs. FF in FF176 with the Marvel bullpen Read them! Mark

Are you knowledgeable on Uderzo adnd/or Franquin? Looking of ballpark value for the following I have inside inscribed comic albums 1. Good sized but quick Marker sketch by Uderzo of Obelix (6 by 7 inches or so) 2. Small pencil sketch by Franquin of Marsupilami (small 2 by 2 inches) I haven't scanned them yet...I am not selling but want to have a ballpark for my records - fifty? few hundred? a thousand? So, if you are familiar with the market on these, please reply or PM me...or perhaps you have an auction results account? Thanks! Mark

Can't remember where I saw this article but essentially it said the reason per-raphaelite / similar art 'died out' was that it took to long to create an artwork - with modern art you can churn out paintings faster so dealers said, I like to market and sell modern art - it is a better business model - actually quite awesome really from that perspective To me, art can be idea or craft or both - idea can be fast once the idea is conceptualized but art with craft can't be churned out the same way. If I can't have idea+craft, I prefer craft only to idea only Mark

Please don't do this I bought a Kaluta Shadow Movie Adaption page and the seller chopped off the Top 2" so it would be cheaper to ship from overseas - so annoying - and of course, not mentioned... Mark

The BWS cover lot wasn't so strong but the description of its use was a bit vague so not shocked - most of the other BWS pages were strong IMO

FF77 was my first 12 center - not sure how I came by it - but at the time I thought it was quite old - this was probably 1978 ish. The book also was visible through the handle of one of my long boxes for many years (it was a beat copy) so I have a soft spot for it but feels like it will go over $100K and the air is a bit thin for me up there Will plan on putting in a thrill bid for sure Mark

Any boardies planning to go to san diego comic con?
mtlevy1 replied to Panelfan1's topic in Comic Events
Also struck out on tix - the con needs to provide dealers tix to sell as a formal part of their booth fees so they can ensure their customers can get in! -
Pretty good estimate...

Have to say I watch some of these and they seem to close slowly, this one just shut down suddenly, not that I was bidding - do folk think this result is an outlier?
-
I'm planning on attending Sunday...

Wondercon - Art dealers? Hi, Does anyone know which art dealers will be in attendance? Any folk planning on going? Mark

This sucks - We are starting to lose the second wave of great comic artists - we have lost two of the Studio artists already. He left quite a great legacy of work - met him briefly at a few cons - very gracious gentleman. Condolences to the family Mark
