  1. HIya, folks: Got some more affordable artwork on consignment with Heritage. All auctions end Wednesday, Dec 6. 2. Even more goodies added recently Here's the Ditko ASM page...what a beauty Fraz Snake Bit painting Byrne X-Men 137 page. This is the 3rd Byrne X-Men page included in this auction. Rob Liefeld, are you paying attention? Miller DD 181 page. BULLSEYE! Byrne Captain America 254p1 splash Wrightson Chamber of Darkness cover. I think this one made the rounds a while back, but nice to see it in play again. Bachalo Death promo poster Campbell From Hell #4 cover Plus, the following items still being processed (no pics yet) Bolland Animal Man #1 cover Bagley ASM 370 cover Perez Crisis Handbook #1 cover
  3. Did you and the seller come to terms on the definition of a ‘key’ book for this abbreviated run? I mean, aside from ASM 361, there are numerous books that sell for more than surrounding issues 365, 374, 375, 400, 410, 416, 430, 431, 5, 20, 529, 544, 545, 550, 565, 568, etc. not to mention the J Scott Campbell covers, the numerous variants, anniversary issues, etc. Depending on your response, $3 per book may be a worthwhile purchase
  4. Last time I did business with clink was back in 2016 and they were charging $35 for the CVA sticker
  5. The premiums for CPV’s have been around for several years. Another well-known example of this is ASM 252
  6. There’s quite a difference in price for an ASM 238 direct vs newsstand copy, with the newsstand version usually selling for a significant premium. the Canadian Price Variant is scarcer than the newsstand version and commands a hefty premium over the newsstand version. All three versions of ASM 238 were included in the recent clink auction, ended Nov 28. here is a screen capture of the books along with final hammer price.
  7. Depends on the Copper book…I’d gladly pay $8.5K for a TMNT #1 or Bone #1 or even a Newsstand ASM 300.
  8. gawd it hurts me to say this, but I often agree with you Roy. 🤣. in this instance, I do not…The ASM 238 CPV in 9.8, white pages. A very uncommon book made moreso because very few of them in the wild. Definitely a top tier Copper Age book (or late Bronze or whatever era one wishes to categorize it), and definitely desirable. Sold in Sept this year for $8.5K. Sold on Clink this week for $5.1K. there are several similar examples and major price drops for Keys that continue to drop in price on clink, but I’ve got to get back to my Zoom meeting 😎
  9. I must have been watching a different auction because the Bronze and Copper Age stuff I tracked continued its downward trend
  10. You're pimping this one hard! is it yours or perhaps a friends?
  11. As a run collector, I think you’re part of a dying breed for various reasons: hop on/off points in a run, too costly, too many issues to collect, etc. might want to change your mindset a bit by keeping only the keys and selling off the non-keys. Should have enough money to purchase anything you want to read via affordable TPB reprints
  12. I called them via the phone number they provided on their Facebook page, and they are not quite the same Bargain Box Dean sold the business around 2010, and the current own dabbles in comics, it the focus of his business is Pokémon and video games. just wondering if anyone has Dean’s contact info that can share in a DM
  13. Nothing about comic books…not sure if it’s the same Bargain Box
  14. Recently, I was re-bagging some comics that I bought at a Motorcity Comicon several years ago. I came across several backing boards containing the name and address for Bargain Box in Zanesville, OH. as I mentioned previously, it’s been a while, but I think the owner had a mullet of some kind, perhaps missing a tooth, and his name was ‘Dean’? And again, my memory may not be the best, but he had a daughter named Cheyanne? anyone know if he still sets up at shows or still had a store?
  15. Ending today, Wed Nov 22nd John Romita Jr. and Scott Hanna Amazing Spider-Man V2#36 Sketch Cover - Signature Series Original Art (Marvel, 2001) CGC NM+ 9.6 White pages. This copy of the issue also known as Amazing Spider-Man #477 has a lovely illustrated tribute to the Twin Towers by Scott Hanna on the solid black cover alongside a portrait of Spidey by John Romita Jr. September 11th/World Trade Center story. The image of Spidey is much larger than the usual sketch image JR Jr illustrated and there are very, very few sketch covers of this issue that grade higher. Here's the link: John Romita Jr. and Scott Hanna Amazing Spider-Man V2#36 Sketch | Lot #49210 | Heritage Auctions
  16. 1. As much as I tried, I simply couldn’t find a decent cover at a price I was willing to pay. I should clarify by stating that I was offered several nice covers, but I wasn’t willing to mortgage my house in order to purchase one. A seller can ask whatever they want for their artwork, but I see a lot of them now as fisherman rather than sellers 2. So I was offered a McSpidey cover this year. It was a solid B+ cover from the adjectiveless run but the seller valued it far beyond rationality. I understand these covers are rarely available and I was just happy to have the seller reach out and offer it to me. 3. EPIC. FAIL! While I have been selling stuff throughout the year, I’ve actually accumulated 6 full portfolios of OA through purchase and trade. 4. Changed the format: small gatherings of 2-4 local collectors at restaurants, sharing artwork pickups/for sale stuff. Worked out much better than larger gatherings where you can’t really have a good chat with everyone
