  1. prior clink Ward auctions with similar quality pieces as the ones that closed yesterday sold for higher. youre correct about the Ward's on HA selling for higher, however they are nicer and more appealing and deserved the higher prices
  2. Just a few random thoughts regarding some pieces/prices that were interesting to me: Adams Tec 400 page = 9.4K. Seemed like a good purchase to me. Andru ASM pages = Lower end of FMV Brown Avengers 114p19 = $700. Kind of cheap perhaps, for 1st full Mantis issue. Byrne x-men 109= 17K. This is where Alpha Flight and Wolverine's mysterious origin begins. I would have thought a Canucklehead or two would have pushed this beyond $20K? Cho hulk/she hulk cover= 3.9K. I'm not a follower of Cho's art but it seems like prices for his work continue to decline. keown hulk page = 2.1K. This is only the second time that a Keown panel page has sold publicly for over $2K. The first time was earlier this year on HA. Interesting result for this page. Andy Kubert Wizard 175 cover = $1.4K. Cheap, I think. Jimenez Xmen Liberators #1 cover =2.9k. It's a nice looking cover, reminiscent of Mcfarlanes marvel tales cover, but I really made note of it because it's the most I've seen a Jimenez cover sell for. Ken Kelly Conan painting = $2K. Great image, size and published, too! All this for a measly $2K? Congrats to the buyer! maguire JLI page = $200. Yes, $200 for this awesome page from the very memorable giffen/dematteis/Maguire run! Bwah ha haa! Ploog planet of the apes half splash = $450. Well below FMV. No monkeying around at this auction, I guess. ? Sienk NM demon bear pages. Not surprised at the prices, but perhaps a bit surprised at the gap in price between the two pages Silvestri Avengers Assemble 1 variant cover (pencils only)=9.1K. This one seemed like a big number to me, but I really don't follow Silvestri's modern art prices so is this in line with current prices? starlin IM 55 Drax splash = 44.8k. Yowza! bill Ward art... prices definitely on the decline for his work. BWS machine man panel page = $7.5K. Mamma Mia!
  3. Huge spidey images? Black costume? Morbius? I can see how many people would be interested at this price point
  4. I wasn't concerned with their productivity nor volume of material they produced during their Image careers. That wasn't the content of your previous email.
  5. Wow, I think we're at opposite ends of the spectrum here, but as thee saying goes, Art is objective. to me, McFarlane was the best of the bunch, followed by Keown, then Portacio, Jae Lee, Jim Lee, Silvestri, and at the very armpit of the heap is Erik Larsen. alex Ross? Nice portrait painter. I own one, but seems that's all he does.
  6. Someone scored the Leonardi ASM page for half price! Nice page!
  7. Took a closer look at HA's offerings for today and tomorrow, and there's quite a few pieces tracking very low. I wouldn't necessarily say they are under people's radar's, but Byrne, Starlin, Kubert, Buscema and a bunch of Bronze and Copper Age Spidey pages are relative bargains. on the other hand, I'm a bit surprised at the current bid on the Leonardi Cloak and Dagger cover. ?
  8. This auction has already surpassed the $4M mark (including comics) ?
  9. Looks like a lot of us have been shut out of Platinum nite. Guess I'll be spending my money on their 'lowly' Fri and Sat auctions.
  10. NYX closing bid is nutz! ? congrats to the seller!
  11. I was the underbbidder on the Kane Conan 12 cover. Congrats to the winner!
  12. So did the Ditko ASM 23 page underperform?
  13. Just checked this morning and it's at $23K now. Yowza!
  14. Well, early predictions on the NYX 3 cover may prove true after all. It's at $13K now ?
  15. Felix, you and I are just about the same age and I happen to like the 90's art just as much as the 80's art. One thing that's been overlooked in this 80's vs 90's discussion is the rise of Valiant Comics and the huge leap forward in comics colouring by both Valiant and Image Comics. Comics have never been cheap fodder for newsprint ever since.
  16. And last, but certainly not least, is DD Man Without Fear #2p6. Young Matt Murdoch wins! Here's the link to the Heritage Auction: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-jr-and-al-williamson-daredevil-the-man-without-fear-2-page-6-original-art-marvel-1993-/a/7163-94688.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 And here's a scan of the page:
  17. We can make the same joke with more 90's Art...Adams. But let's not get carried away ?
  18. Geez, I like 80s art a lot, and 90's stuff. Not sure why people are so hung up on bashing 90's Art, but there was a lot of good with the bad, just like the 80's.
  19. Correct, it was ballpoint pen, and has always been a rather sloppy signature
