  1. Yeah, upon first glance I liked this page, too. However after giving it a closer look, and reading the page description, the condition issues are concerning.
  2. Looks like a dozen or so Kirby pieces were added over the past week, along with the gorgeous Gil Kane Conan cover.
  3. It's been posted several times on this board that Miller's artwork ain't the best, but his ability to tell a story (layouts, pacing, panel construction and constriction) were among the best.
  4. Thanks Nelson. franks current style is very hard on my eyes, too!
  5. Who are the two factions competing against each other to rep Miller for art sales?
  6. Reading all of the comments on this thread has made me realize how disassociated I've become from new comics and new characters and it's also made me feel kind of left out of the conversation. I will say this: goid luck to the seller and to all bidders
  7. If I remember correctly, these pieces were done durin the time where Jeff painted very few figures having eye/eyeballs. Sure, there was a darkened/shadowy area for the eye sockets, but take a closer look to see if there's any eyeballs. yes, I know I'm sounding a bit strange and this is something odd to point out, but if one's eyes are meant to be the pathway to get one's soul, then I find it very truly telling of Jeff's ability to render a complete figure with so much soul... Sans eyeballs
  8. May Heritage Auction Well, this one's already starting off well, with an Adams Batman cover, Byrne FF cover, Byrne X-Men 137 page, Perez JLA cover, McSpidey pages, and in the miscellaneous section there's a nice Kane Conan cover & splashes, Wrightson, and lots of Bronze Age Spidey art (Andru, Frenz, Leonardi, Romita Jr, Pollard).
  9. Hi, all; I've got some nice art on consignment at Comiclink, ending tomorrow nite. Here's the list of goodies: Jose Luis Garcia Lopez Wonder Woman watercolour illustration. Jose rarely has time to paint, but when he does, its always been very appealing Here's the link to the auction: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fallsub.asp%3FFocused%3D1%26id%3D1398%26Artist%3DJOSE%20GARCIA-LOPEZ%23Item_1163678&id=1163678 Dale Keown Future Imperfect #1 cover featuring The Hulk, Bruce Banner, The Maestro, and Dale's awesome attention to detail. Just take a look at the heap of discarded superhero and supervillain costumes, weapons, and armaments The Maestro is standing on and you'll know what I mean. Future Imperfect was a very popular and memorable storyline, and I think this covers nicely captures a lot of the context of the storyline. Here's the link to the auction: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fallsub.asp%3FFocused%3D1%26id%3D1398%26Artist%3DDALE%20KEOWN%23Item_1163674&id=1163674 Dale Keown Iron Man #14 cover. This issue has a lot going for it and Clink described it best "is the final issue of Iron Man to feature Tony Stark as Iron Man. The issue leads into the events of Civil War II #8 where Captain Marvel puts Tony into a permanent (for now at least) coma. Tony is being replaced as the star of by a brilliant young African-American teenage girl name Riri Williams, who is going by the name Ironheart. Doctor Doom has also taken on the mantle of Iron Man and is appearing in a new title, Infamous Iron Man." Whew! And if that wasn't enough, this cover was also part of a cross-company effort for 'beefcake month', an abandoned plan for Marvel to prominently feature, um, beefcake prominently on their covers. Here's the link to the auction: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fallsub.asp%3FFocused%3D1%26id%3D1398%26Artist%3DDALE%20KEOWN%23Item_1163675&id=1163675 Bill Sienkiewicz New Mutants #25p8, featuring Professor X, Cannonball, Magik, Mirage, Sunspot and Cloak (from Cloak & Dagger) Here's the link to the auction: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fallsub.asp%3FFocused%3D1%26id%3D1398%26Artist%3DBILL%20SIENKIEWICZ%23Item_1163673&id=1163673 Bill Sienkiewicz New Mutants #25p7, featuring Professor Charles Xavier, Cloak (From Cloak & Dagger) and Illyana (Magik) Rasputin Here's the link to the auction: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAuctions%2Fallsub.asp%3FFocused%3D1%26id%3D1398%26Artist%3DBILL%20SIENKIEWICZ%23Item_1163672&id=1163672 Thanks for looking, and good luck to all bidders!
  10. Yoram likes Romita Jr. art predominantly from 1978-1993, which includes his 1st run iron man, ASM (especially in collaboration with Roger Stern), 1st run xmen, DD, the 1st story arc of Punisher War Zone (dark n gritty art matched the mob storyline perfectly, IMHO), and the incredible DD Man Without Fear mini-series.
  11. Appreciate the info, Gene. i took another look at the listing and it indicates this is a "No Reserve" auction
  12. Yeah, there's definitely some rabid ROM collectors out there and that Miller cover is very striking
  13. It comes from crazy McFarlane/Venom/Spidey fans like me. So here it is in black and white: i am offering $90K for this splash + $10K finders fee leading to the purchase of this splash. That's $100K total offered for this splash.
  14. I hear you, however a couple things to keep in mind: Marvel Tales is not ASM in terms of collectibility/nostalgia and that does have an affect the valuations. also, this ASM splash features the 1st appearance of arguably the most significant Marvel villain created in the past 25-30 years and I suspect the premium for that distinction alone will elevate this splash to the six-figure valuation. thats my two cents, but I'm certain that im not alone in my thinking when it comes to this splash. never mind that this image has received a ton of exposure in comics publications nor the fact that Venom was the only modern Spidey villain to appear in an ASM movie (well, if you exclude jolly J.Jonah Jameson) ?
  15. Now that the Heritage auction is over, I just wanted to get some people's thoughts on a few items in the Clink Winter auction. the BWS #6 complete interiors seems interesting. It's at $42K right now and I'm just wondering where it will end up? Perhaps $100K? Thoughts? wrightson Swamp Thing page is also interesting. It's an origin recap which is something I've always appreciated, however, there's some Swampy on the page, but not a whole lot of him. finally, the Romita Sr DD page with lots of Spidey. I kind of like this early representation of Spidey and the page does have good content. Will it exceed $30K?
  16. The zeck spidey wrap-around cover looked interesting at $10K yesterday so I figured what the heck, might as well throw in a bid. Was surprised to see my bid of $19,375 ($24K with BP) topped withing a few hours! good luck to whomever wins it!
  17. Um, I'm still having difficulty trying to look at Kirby art. Never mind tryng to understand the 'brilliance' of his artwork when I can't even get past the blocky crudeness of it all. I've been trying to understand the appeal of Kirby for so long now with no progress. and don't get me started on his 70s and 80s work, cause I'd rather look at (gasp!) Erik Larsen dreck!
