Umm, scorn? derisive commentary? If that's what you got from my post, please read it again and give your head a shake. -

I don't t think anyone has mentioned the $53K result for the Starlin Marvel Fanfare 21 page, featuring a 3-panel battle between the Hulk and the Thing. Nice page, strong result. -

That Superman 259 cover seems as though it’s been on sale for the past 15 years, moving from one dealer/seller to the next. the price definitely reflects its a ‘stale to market’ piece. -

Well, I suppose the consignor would expect much higher prices for the JR Jr DD splash, but I felt it may have hit $30K, and no more than that. I think the results for pages from one specific DD issue (#261) has skewed valuations for DD artwork from other issues and as a result, skewed peoples' valuation of his DD work in general. $30K for a JR Jr DD splash is a large chunk of change. Consider the three Romita Jr ASM covers that sold for $29K-39K each over the past year. They were not the best JR Je ASM covers, but they are nice, and ASM is more highly collected than DD. -

I agree with what Bronty says, and furthermore, the plot (and possibly more than just the plot) was a collaborative effort between Claremont and Miller. There is a pretty good accounting of how the idea for the Wolverine limited series came to be in one of the comics-related interview mags or possibly, one of the TwoMorrows publications. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to look for it now, but the Wolvie limited series was/is so much more than giving praise to Miller’s DD material. unfortunately, I am not the most articulate person on the boards nor can I type at blazing speed (40 words per minute being the top end of my typing skills). However, this article, for me, sums up why the Wolvie Limited series deserves more credit than Felix would care to acknowledge: https://comicsalliance.com/wolverine-1982-mini-series-claremont-miller/ -

Hi, Ron: If you only collect OA, then perhaps your statement is a strong one. However, I collect both comics and OA and my income is somewhat limited. As comics back issue prices increased drastically (Silver/Bronze/Copper keys), I shifted my collecting focus to OA and nearly stopped collecting comics altogether. Since comics prices have/continue to drop, and OA prices are rising, I am buying more comics, and less OA. Given the above, I'd say there's more than just a passing correlation between the two -

Aside from OA, I suspect a decent % of us also collect cards (sports & non-sports) and comics. Cards spiked early during the onset of covid to historical highs and were amongst the first to drop from their lofty record high prices. Comics were next and followed a similar pattern. OA was/is late to the game wrt price increases. My personal opinion is that we are still in the midst of a price hike, although the rise in prices will be less volatile. Additionally, I think that OA prices won't crash and burn as badly as the aforementioned 'related' collectibles because OA is one of a kind whereas the others are mass produced. Your mileage may vary.
