15 to 18k for a blue 3.5 , sure that would be expected these days. "Upon closer inspection" here are the notes:

    Grader Notes

chip out right bottom of front cover
    readers crease
tear left bottom of front cover
large crease right top of front cover breaks color
small amount of color touch on full right & full left front cover
small amount of glue on bottom spine

So they are saying the entire left and right sides of the book have color touch? If so it seems like a large area to call it slight resto. And looking at the book it looks to me that most of the visible wear is on the left and right edges of the book , other than the corner chips. . A truly baffling mystery.

I mean as long as the resto falls within the guidelines according to CGC of what is deemed slight, then I guess so. I'd have to imagine the resto itself is maybe very small dots. So even though it takes up the full right and left side of the cover, it's still a very small overall amount in total. I'm just guessing of course though, no way to know without getting a good look at the book like CGC has.

I just saw the result. Jiminy Crickets. About twice as much as I would have guessed. A 4.5 A-3 sold for 4,560 a year ago. I see it's only a small amount of color touch but 15,600 is even a little high for a blue 3.5 I would have thought.

No I don't think $15,600 is high for a blue 3.5. A 4.5 recently sold for $20,400 and late last year a 2.0 sold for $12,600. I think an argument can be made this did sell a bit higher than one would expect, but considering the level of resto to the amount on the 4.5 that sold for $4,560, it's not a remotely close comparison. This 3.5 was somewhat close to an unrestored copy, the 4.5 may as well have been a .5 or 1.0 once unrestored. But I agree this sold solidly still.

Yes I think so too, But it would be good to have some precision such as stating brittleness on the spine such as your book where its localised (assuming CGC agrees with the assessment). Its also informative for any prospective buyer. I have seen some books where they have stated things like 'heavy damage to first 2 wraps'. Anyway, i think the aversion to brittle pages has cooled down a lot especially for mega keys such as yours.

I agree, with mega keys less of an issue now than years ago when it comes to brittle, and moreso slightly brittle. Considering the lack of availability with Action 1’s and Tec 27’s that come to market, I mean it’s really not that often, and especially more “affordable” copies like this. I think even if one comes along with any form of brittle pages you just take what you can get. I see where the slightly brittle designation came from with his photos, but they’re nicer than I expected them to be.

    Wow,,,

    Congratulations on your book!!

    I still like your estimate!!

Not to many of these around even coverless or near complete.
The front cover only missing a chunk sold for over 200K a while back! Incredible and probably worth it for long term investment.

Yours should do well. It’s a great copy and much more affordable than a complete copy. So should have a considerably bigger buyer base competing for it.

  5. Well if anyone ever had a shot at a solidly presenting partially coverless Tec 27 for a potentially decent price, this would be it. With the married centerfold/back cover and slightly brittle pages, may push some bidders away. I honestly have no problem whatsoever with any of those issues. Would be more than ecstatic to own this copy.

Will be interesting to see what it hammers at. I suspect still somewhere over $100K, but who knows. Maybe it sells for less.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it and I'm pretty close. I've already got 2 in an 8.0 and 7 in an 8.5. I'm working on 6, 8 and 10. Bought a 3 at a 6.5, had it cleaned and pressed, and it came back as an 8.5. I was really happy with that bump.

Oh yeah you for sure have the tough ones out of the way, and a 6.5 to an 8.5 is a great bump indeed for issue 3!

Everytime. See a interesting cover of Strange Adventure I want to read that issue to find out what happened ‼️👍

I have to imagine almost all Strange Adventures issues probably have some of the best stories.

Congrats on pulling that fantastic copy! You're going to love it.

I started collecting comics on Frank Miller/Klaus Janson's DD run in the late 70s. Ninjas were absolutely huge back then. I used to walk to Moondog's Comics when I would visit my grandparents' house and check out all the Daredevils. Moondog's is sadly gone now, but it won the inaugural Spirit of Retailer Eisner Award as a great comic shop.

I'm currently working on getting 2-10 in 8.0+. My #1 is a 5.0 signed by Stan the Man. Love that book.

2-10 in 8.0+ would be a solid mini run. Shouldn’t be too expensive either other than issues 2 and 7.
