  3. hi

i've been proposed these 2 pages, a ovi hondru penciled page (don't know if it's a commission, or a cover prelim), and a new FF page by (according to the seller) art adams (but it doens't look like art adams to me)

can someone tell me who did the FF page, and the price of these 2 pages (i would have said 100$ for the ovi hondru according to last heritage sales, but if it's a cover prelim, it's maybe more....and i don't have a clue abou the FF one)

also, the FF page is on a DC paper, and i don't recognize the signature on the lower right corner

    thanks

  4. well, i didn't want to judge who's a good collector, and who's a bad one....but IMO, i think that many guys that are serial flippers may also be tasteful collectors....i have a friend of mine who reminded me of glenbru in his story

he sometimes (often) flips, but the benefits only allows him to buy artwork he likes, and he has very nice pages.....that he wouldn't have been able to buy only with his salary

i even bought from a flipper, because for some reason, i don't like buying on heritage (too much good stuff, i never know where to put my money), and i was happy to see a werewolf by night painting by leonardo manco on CAF after a heritage auction (i knew it was listed in this auction, but i bought it several days after for only 150$ more, so well, it wasn't that much, and i was really happy to get it)

  5. sometimes i wonder : you all dislike people like erik essington, or some other, anyone who flips, but when it comes down to other people doing exactly the same thing, you all applaude and praise him :

    see this post :

and tell me how different it is : he bought and re sold the same day, to rebuy art that he resold again (i think essingto n does the same)

you'll tell me that glenbru is a real collector, but to me, it's exactly the same thing, i'm pretty sure essington, or even the donnelly's for what i know are real collectors, and they keep a lot of the art they buy for themselves

again, you'll probably find a lot of arguments, but to stay simple, buying 10k, and reselling 17.5k the same day, that pretty looks like flipping to me.......but congrats glenbru, you made 7500$ that day, you're th best.....and shame to essington who makes a hundred bucks on a page, he should be burned like witches back in the old days...boooo !!

  6. i don't think there's really FMV you can estimate.....if we take the case of SGM, the prices are what they are because he knows some people are ready to pay that price (and he sold some, or else, he would have lowered the prices)

and the same goes for every artist, alex ross, campbell, anyone

We talked a lot about SGM, but to me, he didn't do anything wrong, and all artists are doing the same thing, trying to get the best price from their art....but people talked a lot about SGM because  i guess they're frustated  about not being able to buy a batman page anymore (i was frustated too, i was so ready to buy a page, but when i saw the prices, it was too much for me)

the only one who i think is over exagerating is capullo, i don't think his batman run was that good (it was just average, and he still doesn't know how to draw a human figure), and he charges his page the double of a frank miller page (at least)

  7. i didn't read the issues yet, but i still think SGM's art is wonderful.....prices are what they are, but i like it a lot when people say the story isn't as good as miller's or snyder's art....i mean, are you saying that snyder's run is that good?

the court of owls reveals bruce's hidden brother??? OMG, that reminded me of old TV shows from the 80's, with the bad evil hidden twin

death in the famiily??? joker has never been so lame, he wasn't a threat at all, and the story was unuseful

year zero was over exagerated, and i don't want to go to the bat-rabbit armor, with batman being good old 2 pack smoking gordon

IMO, snyder's run was at best average, and in batman's history, i've seen a lot of better run's that this one....robinson did better, moench did better, a lot of writers did better tha that, but for some (marketing) reason, it is considered as an historic run

as i said, i didn't read white knight yet, but it can't be worse than snyder

  8. hi everyone,

i was looking for some neal adams original art , and i found his personal store site (i didn't even know he had one) : http://www.nealadamsstore.com/Pages-and-Covers_c_41.html

he sells many pages, but i find the prices very (too) high, especially the cover recreations (about 25 000 - 40 000$) and the recent batman odyssey pages (about 15 000 - 20 000$ each)

i don't really know if the price is correct (i don't think so, but i'm not a specialist, and when i see what capullo sells his batman pages, well, i don't know what to think anymore as neal adams is much more iconic - to me, and i'm only 40 - than capullo)
